Worth mentioning as well is that as far as I know the church(es) Judith went to implied that she had done something which justified what happened. Maynard was obviously not impressed by that.
basically his mum a devote believer never questioned why she was given such suffering so he asks those questions for her and any god having given us a questioning mind would want us to ask why.
After talking to the church Maynard's mother, Judith, asked the church why she was the way she was and they said it was because she wasn't a good enough Christian. aaaaaaand, the song is angry. Yep. I would be too.
She spent 10,000 days like that, broken and paralyzed and never wavered in her faith that God would see her through it. The frustration is palpable, especially for me whose mother has become a born-again cultist...
We as Christians often talk about blessings. We don't talk about some of the more distressing promises from God. One of those promises is that we will suffer. Another is that people will hate us for loving God, even our families. I never met the woman but if her faith evoked this reaction I believe she is blessed for the rest of eternity.
"God" never promised anything. What you're saying it's what's being translated from some religious embellishments in a book that was written by guys who, several generations later, wrote things that have heard from other guys who met guys who said that they knew other guys who heard stories from guys who could have possibly've met a guy who (never really) said he could have being divinely insipred.
Here's what's even more interesting. In the bible Christ says that all manner of sins may be forgiven if one asks for forgiveness and accepts him as their savior. But he says there is only 1 sin that shall never be forgiven. And that is blasphemy against the holy spirit. Which is exactly what Maynard does in the 3rd sentence. Btw that was the only curse word on the entire album. They were only allowed one and Maynard put it here. "Fuck your God". Maynard is well read. So he definitely knows that this sin is unforgivable in the eyes of God and not only did he curse God but he decided to use his only available f-bomb to do it. Really a deep way of saying "I've chosen my path and I'm confident in it"
No one likes their fictitious super hero’s dissed. I had a teddy bear when I was younger, he could always destroy my siblings teddy bears in a fight, his super ted powers were always better no matter what was thrown at him. No one dare say bad things about him.
I'm really impressed on your open mindness to at least listen to the song. I reference to Jimmy is good because that was a per cur serer for Judith. I honestly wish more Christians were like you two are but most are fake. I was baptisted Greek Orthodox Catholic. The real deal christian before roman So I figure I'm covered because my religion is forgiving.
I know this is old, but.. bringing up "Job" (a fictional character from the Bible), blaming it on Satan (when it was YHWH that did everything to him), and comparing that to the lyrics of the song just makes me wonder if you really understand it. (It's much easier to relate to if you're an atheist with Christian parents.)
awesome song that sheds the light on the self righteous bleeding deacons that go on the witch hunt when they know they themselves are guilty of all those thoughts yet have not a single mustard seed of honesty to admit it. plus you liked the song dont lie
Most people, including clergy and Christian leaders just don't understand what's in the Bible which is what breeds this anger. All they have to do is look at the story of Job for an example. The devil claims Job is only faithful because he gets a lot of blessings and favor from God. So he tells God that if takes those things away Job will curse God to his face. And God says fine. Wanna test that out YOU take his blessings away and make him suffer. Because he's been faithful and I'm not touching him. This shows a couple of things. One, when stuff happens to good people it is not God that's responsible for it. He is not stealing our loved ones back to Heaven when they die or killing them in wars and such. Bad stuff happens to good people because the devil is an asshole. Not God. If you're gonna believe in one, you gotta believe in the other. Two, after Job went through all he went through, because he did keep his faith, he was rewarded double. Which is what Judith was likely counting on and why she could keep her faith. God doesn't do any bad things to anybody and he has no need to prematurely kill good people. And he rewards if you persevere. This is not what a lot of so called religions teach, but it's right there in the Bible they claim to follow. This is just one example.
The lead singer is struggling for meaning or closesure through his music 🎶! That's how creative people deal with or handle their pain in life! 5:03 Your superman analogy has no basis in fact, even if it is a fictional character. FFS, think harder. What you suggest that he can't allow or prevent is just reaching.
@@aipaloovik We aren’t having a fact based discussion in general Because We are speaking about something people believe in and not something that is factual. That being said I’m not speaking in facts, I’m speaking in hypotheticals. So my Superman analogy works just fine with those things in mind. Any person who can effortlessly save a life and chooses not to save a life should feel some level of guilt. Hypothetically, A human who saved 9 out of 10 possible lives during a catastrophic event would likely still feel guilty that they weren’t able to save everyone even though it wasn’t within their power to save everyone. The reason why a human would feel guilt in that situation is because we have love in our hearts for our fellow man. She spent 10,000 days like that, broken and paralyzed and never wavered in her faith that God would see her through it. The frustration is palpable, especially for me whose mother has become a born-again cultist...
Great and what a way to explain it to your daughter. Very smart girl too. I do the same with mine, just not on UA-cam. Cheers and God Bless from Texas
Thank you for taking the time to comment such nice things. She is actually my sister btw. You're not the first to think that though :) Cheers
@@omy785 Stop thinking. They don't like it when you do that.
According to some accounts Jesus Christ himself said some version of, "Why Me, Why's it have to be me?"
My goodness I recommend you check the community on this song. You two will learn something. God love you for trying.
Wings for Marie and 10,000 days is much less angry of a song, that should be next.
Its coming out today!
Psst, Superman isn't real...
Really a deep way of saying "I've chosen my path and I'm confident in it"
I also love how he substitutes "dog" for "dogma" in live performance
Superman = Truth as God = Truth
Comic books = Bible
His mother died from cancer, and she was very religious
In all honesty, if there is a God, a challenge or two is probably accepted. And could be taken. Thats what this song does
Watch Jim Jefferies talk about religon he explains it plain & simple, would love to see your reactions to it
Most people, including clergy and Christian leaders just don't understand what's in the Bible which is what breeds this anger.
Most people turn against or even blame God when they don't understand what's going on! I can feel the "anger" through the music 🎶" Art disturbs the comfortable and comforts the disturb."/Take care
Many of us ex christians would rather burn than bow to tyranny
The official video is lit.
I hate this reaction there is no emotions in these kids. When I heard this song it made me feel something.
Imagine being over 6 years old and believing fairytales are real..
It doesn’t make sense to analyse it in a vacuum. It’s one song and won’t cover his full spectrum of experience. It’s like judging someone on a conversation you over heard.
Not liking the song lyrical wise? Because the song itself is powerful and awesome!! IMO
Tool - Jimmy, A Perfect Circle _ Judith , Tool - Patient, Tool Wings for Marie (pt 1) , Tool _ 10000 Days ( Wings for Marie pt 2) to get the whole story of how Maynard deals with his feelings about his mothers affliction suffering and death IMO
.
Maynard's Mind = Tool, Maynard's Heart = A Perfect Circle, Maynard's Genitals = Puscifer
All the way from Srilanka, can you do something by Angie aparo, he IS such a story teller.
leading the witness your honor...
Oh God you remind me of the defense lawyers from Law and order svu
“ objection leading the witness”
@@krnwilldoit still humbled that you were so impressed...
@@scottballard5575 what do you mean?
Rewatch the video closely- Maynard can't bring himself to sing ' F your God'. That line is sung by the lead guitarist, not Maynard...
very deep story in this song
You see a baby falling from a high place and he gets caught saved and its good but millions of children die of hunger and diarrhea every day?
She knew Christ was with her , and the devil is the one at fault .
lmao
These two have real good heads on their shoulders.
I've been in a binge watching reactions and dissertations about this song and this far not one got it right, not even Cristian pastors, Occam's razor would point that I am the one who didn't get it, but I believe it's not the case, maybe I'll make a vid about it
He did this all for you...is another tell to ponder
Watching this 5 years later… I can almost guarantee the daughter is definitely secular now. If not atheist. You can see the logical innate reasoning on her face.
@@nunchucktaylor3488 you would be correct. She did it on her own as well.
Were we created to be mindless. She believed in her faith. He saw his mother suffering. What would your reaction be????
Just my own personal comment..
Smart kid 👌🏼
Some people are more defensive for their loved ones then themselves. Good point.

Pastor Rob There is a metallica song called Fallow The God That Failed. it strongly ingluenced alot off young people. in the 90s Please Check it out !!! its the metallic's black album I would really like to Know What They WAS TRYING to say???
The problem is you are taking the lyrics and in many cases applying ideas to them that were never intended in the way you are taking them. There are videos where the singer talks about this song a little bit /watch?v=YU0BrwlWNTk Your views might change.
Nice story, God chose to curse his faithful believer to prove a point on his little esoteric chessboard with "Satan". Sounds like a divinity of pure love to me.
we are never good enough
It’s unfair to assume God wouldn’t have equal if not superior love in his heart for his children wouldn’t you say?
Theodicy if you want to be all theological, a good question everyone must answer to themselves
Im familiar with theodicy. If I am not mistaken a pastor who reacted to this same song brought theodicy up and spoke on it.
@@CampSiteVlogs yea probably, pastors and priests all know about that kind of stuff. the song is deeper without realising it, it scratches the surface of the epicurus riddle and the theodicy debate. i dont know if the singer realises this- but its a fascinating topic
Im sure he does. Maynard, even if didnt know a thing about it before writing this song does his research on things before hand so that his art isn't robbed of possible greatness. @@maynardyorke
You just can't always understand why, but Maynard would not be who he is (a prodigy) if it weren't for it all.
Here's the deal, I've read the Torah, The Bible, The Quran, Zoroastrian text, The Vedas, The Seven Songs of Wisdom, etc etc. It's all nonsense. Now I'm not saying that there isn't a deity or deitys. I'm not saying there isn't an afterlife. There might be all those things. All I'm saying is that all the holy books I've ever read are assinine horse pucky, fit only for people to terrified to live with uncertainty.
About the story at the end, so God made a bet with Satan, so he destroyed his life by killing his wife and children and lively hood...that's where his morales r at
