Yeah it's honestly crazy school either didn't want to take actions on that or didn't have any means to do so. Cause I live in Europe and here if like teachers or school admin sees that kids don't wanna go home and there are major problems at home they will involve the social services and police pretty much immediately.
@@user-mb3dx5fl9f The teachers reported it, they helped the little girl as much as they could,, social services are the ones that took a while to investigate.
@@terector1 Nah. Teachers reported only when she started missing the school. That they did. Though in theory they should have notified the soc services kinda immediately after it was clear that the kid doesnt wanna go back home and tries to stay at school as much as possible. And that started going on like years before the actual active phase of this tragedy, as I understand
As an aunt, there is NO WAY I’m letting them go anywhere with anyone I haven’t met. idc what the parent says. Disney on ice? I’ll be there. Sleepover? Cool ..I’ll bring the snacks. I trust no one when it comes to children.
Yes, I totally feel you. I have two nieces and I am not letting them hangout alone with some older guy whom I have never met, no matter how charming he is said to be.
I felt the same way. My niece is with us week on week off. And my other niece comes whenever she wants. They are never going with anyone they do not know. This story broke me. So many people failed her including her own mother. 😢💔😭
Absolutely my Queen. As an uncle to an 8 year old and a 6 year old, ain’t nobody coming close to my babies. The only people I will trust with my own kids (when I have my own) will be my parents and siblings, I ain’t trusting none of my cousins either. We need to protect our children.
Yes, fucking sick. I believe that her mother sold her into human trafficking. She may be dead, she may not be, either way, she's likely gone for good :(
@@jdlt6273 I don't think she ever was charged with anything. I think a grand jury didn't prosecute and simple said "nope". She SHOULD serve time for misleading police in her own daughter's dissapearance. She's hiding something...something big. IMO
@@AnnCooper33 I think so too. My cousins had a similar childhood and their mother sold the eldest into sex trafficing for drugs. Luckily she was found within a few days and is too young to remember any of it 😬😬
The mother and Tatum both had something to do with it. He was grooming her and probably giving her mother some type of allowance or drugs. Which leads to why he killed his wife and himself!
Ugh, this is such a sad case. Relisha’s mother needs to be locked up. She neglected, abused and essentially allowed her daughter to be groomed by a predator and likely abducted/sold. It’s absolutely disgusting. She completely failed her daughter. I feel sympathy for her struggling with systemic poverty and likely abuse herself but that doesn’t justify what happened here.
Yeah it's sad for her mother to a point, but I'm so glad that Kendall doesn't go overboard with that. Giving people like this any kind of pass just takes away from parents who do everything possible to give their children a better life. Her mom had a choice with her condition in life, at least to a point, but this baby had no options.
@@nohely3325 tell me about it. I’m from Houston area which was mind blowing when I found out that this was a very hot spot for it. 😖 Last October I joined a awareness event and it was amazing. When I left I realized not many know about it at all.
the fact that her half brothers’ dad was more concerned about her than her own mother is so disgusting. hell, everybody is more concerned than the mother. i hope the mother does time because she clearly knows something and is hiding things.
what breaks my heart the most is Relisha probably enjoyed spending time with him and first because he was the first adult in her life giving her attention and spending time with her. so many people failed her.
I agree with this so much. He spent time with her, took her to do things. She was probably happier with him more then anyone... and he knew it, he took advantage of that trust. Ih makes my heart hurt so much. That poor baby.
So true... like in a way it was such a manipulative bribe. This poor girl loved being with him for a reason but obviously he wasn’t responsible enough to take healthy care of her.
I hate everyone involved in this case. I hate every one of her family members, I hate anyone involved from CPS who absolutely failed this little girl, knowing full well she was in significant danger. This is one of the most infuriating cases I've ever heard. It's not about simple neglect, it's not about poverty, it's not about cyclical abuse. This was malice and evil at work.
I definitely agree!! I hate everyone being involved in her case too! I also hate every one of her family members, the cops, CPS, every single person that absolutely failed that little girl 😡 they knew damn well she was in danger and she needed to be in a safe stable place and she needed love and care!!!
her mom literally sold her. no child has to go through that, she was supposed to trust her mom and be nurtured but at the end she gets this in return. this breaks my heart. :(
To varying degrees, I think this happens a lot. It's really terrible and shouldn't exist. It shouldn't even be a possibility. Grown men (or anyone, really) should not be attracted to children... their minds shouldn't work that way. It's just disgusting.
@@kyleechristensen2217 i definitely agree, they are children who shouldn't go through this or even know about this but for her case, to be exposed to this things when she had a bright future up ahead breaks my heart. everyone failed her, they should've taken the children away sooner
She didn´t get a proper upbringing, so she has no idea what good parenthood is like. If you didn´t have a normal childhood and life, you tend to not care about anything, really, you go numb. It´s a defense system. Also, this guy was totally grooming them and everybody falls for that because it is careful manipulation.
I am a black woman that has been watching Kendall before she started doing true crimes while she was in college doing storytimes. I appreciate how she includes cases with people of color in a respectful manner (even though they often receive less views than her average). I see her as an amazing ally to the black community and a genuine person.
Can we talk about how her teachers actually cared enough to make sure that she was cared for and loved? If she hadn't died, could you imagine how much of an impact that could have made on her? Her teacher might have been one of the only people that cared enough to make sure that she was okay aside from her grandma and her sister's aunt. Such a sad story.
I am from Washington DC and I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH for featuring Relisha Rudd today. She does not get enough coverage and my heart breaks for her every day. I’ve been following the story since the day she was announced missing and I am praying that someone somewhere will come with an answer. Thank you thank you 🙏🏽 from the bottom of my heart for giving this beautiful little black girl a voice.
I have the most hard core chills I’ve ever experienced reading this.... very strange considering the things that usually trigger chills for me. Praying for this little girl
im frm DC too ive always thought and knew that Khalil who is the janitor took her killed his wife her and then himself. she sold her to the janitor smdh
I think Tatum was paying the mom to gained access to her daughter... I think the mom was just happy to not worry about Relisha anymore. I’m convinced that the mother is involved because she went along with the “Doctor’s excuse” and she would know that Tatum was the janitor at the homeless shelter to begin with.
Thank you Kendall for pointing out how young black girls are unprotected by the system and the media. You are such an incredible being. I feel so bad for Relisha
I've actually seen this case but more recently and it was only though a YT video. I doubt this case got much coverage/exposure when she first went missing considering how we are all just hearing it, 7 years later (it was probably brought into Kendall's attention more recently too, otherwise she would've covered it years ago). Who knows, if Relisha was sold to sex traffickers maybe she could've been saved right away. The media def needs to start covering POC cases because it's sad when YT videos are doing the ONLY service to missing POC. I'm so tired of this missing white woman syndrome.
I find it so interesting that when Casey Anthony did not report her daughter missing for 31 days she becomes the subject of a national media frenzy, but when Shamika Young (Relisha's mother) never reports Relisha missing even after she was missing for more than 20 days and yet nobody knows about Shamika and the woman was never even named a suspect.
The news kinda cherry picks what stories to cover it’s still fucked up how both relishas mom and Casey Anthony walk free like at least give them 5 years or something fuck
CORRECTION: Casey Anthony NEVER reported her daughter missing. It was Casey's Mom, Cindy, who called the police after tracking Casey down at her boyfriend's house. When she finally found Casey and realized Caylee wasn't with her, she basically dragged Casey out to the car and called 911. She forced Casey to talk to the operator, and Casey lied about everything and seemed very annoyed and uninterested in talking with them.
@@imanamatullah2378 that is true. I was mainly referring to the adults in her family. Specifically her mother who basically handed her off to someone she barely knew.
This is how groomers work. They don't just attack straight out, they don't just groom the children, they work slowly and over time to create a trusting relationship with the family to get what they want.
Man it breaks my heart for Relisha. He was somebody in her life, that she thought really cared about her. Imagine how scared and betrayed she probably felt when that all came to an end :(
Thank you, it's so true. Especially with there being mild mental illness, those are are the very people that would not know they were being groomed. They don't have the social skills to catch or react to that type of person.
Yes! It reminded me of the Gabriel Fernandez case. These people don't do anything until it's way too late, especially with POC. It's so sad and they just do not care
You can’t shame the parents when they’ve been in generations of systematic poverty dumbass. You need to blame the gov for not raising the min wage and giving universal healthcare and childcare. Ask your senator, mayor for higher min wage. Look for ways to speak up on it. Start fighting when others cant.
@@2468whodoweappreciate As a dumbass, I will gladly shame parents who willingly let their daughter go alone with a strange man. That has nothing to do with “systematic poverty.” I usually don’t respond to ignorant comments but the government has absolutely nothing to do with this level of poor parenting and carelessness.
It's def so hard. We try our best with providing food clothes education where help can be given. But ultimately unfortunately a lot of the time those things are up to parents 😕 reporting neglect/abuse is anther difficult situation. You can report
I remember when this story happened here in DC. Everybody knew the mother was guilty of something. Last I heard, she works in Oxon Hill right near the red roof inn, ironically. It's safe to say people around here can't stand her. I'm so glad you covered this story and I'm so so so grateful for you pointing out that her race does play a huge part in why this story did not go national. This sweet girl did not deserve this. Literally EVERYONE failed her. Her stepdad is still advocating for her to this day. It's incredibly heartbreaking
@@ashleyoreilly5327 I agree. He was either paying (Relisha’s mum) or supplying her with drugs, probably a bit of both. I know that her mum is said to have mild learning difficulties, but surely she knows the difference between right and wrong. And letting her baby girl go off with this vile man to HOTELS?!! She may not be the person who killed that poor child, but she has her daughters blood on her hands, same as her grandmother. I hope ALL her other kids have been removed from her “care”, as clearly she can’t look after herself, let alone her kids. Poor Relisha, lessons need to be learned from this awful story...
What a horrible mother. Hard to justify her actions for any reason, really. There are plenty of poor people who are still good parents and protective of their children. She clearly just didn’t care about her daughter.
I briefly thought perhaps the mother wanted her daughter to have things she couldn't give her (the nails, food, gifts) and time away from the shelter but its the lying about who he was (the doctor and neurology stuff) that makes it clear she knew something was wrong and she shouldn't have been allowing her to go with him. That and not going to pick the kids up from school show a lack of care.
I agree! Just because someone may not be in an ideal circumstance when they have kids doesn’t mean they can’t be great parents. There’s no excuse for relishas mother at all and there is no justification for this woman’s actions. She definitely didn’t care about her poor daughter 💔
@@humannamedhannah Kendall isn’t trying to make excuses she’s pointing out that if you want to hold the mother responsible you have to acknowledge WHY she allowed it to happen. The mother is a victim of intergenerational poverty herself. She is a homeless, intellectually disabled, woman of color living in a country which systematically oppresses minorities and provides little help to poor people (which is how the generational poverty cycle continues). Sure, the mother did EVERYTHING wrong, but we also have to hold other people accountable; the cps workers who continuously allowed the mother to have custody, shelter employees who did not uphold the no fraternizing rule and turned a blind eye to Khalil’s relationship with Relisha, the school employees who did little investigating into a month of absence and strange doctor’s notes.... EVERYONE failed this little girl. Not just 1 person
The mother knew and there is no excuse that can be made for her. Yes she had a rough life but there are so many who have hard lives and there are many who suffer from mental health problems but they don’t sell their kids!!!!! Yes EVERYONE failed her this I agree with. I would like to ask though has anyone heard the term “it starts at home” ? The one most responsible for keeping this beautiful young lady safe was her mother! She neglected her plain and simple then the other adults tried to step in and care for her and some may have called cps however you can’t always rely on them to step up and do their jobs to protect the innocent. Therefore this little girl was either sold or lost her life due to negligence of the ones who should have kept her safe. HER MOTHER and CPS. So while yes the predator is to blame he is NOT the only one.
Oh yea, her mama definitely sold her off! The biggest clue was that “Dr.Tatum” was the janitor and the mama had to have known or seen him at the shelter. Disgusting parents 🤢
100%...I’m a teacher in a large city and it breaks my heart to have all these children “distance learning” in the name of Covid. Teachers report abuse. Who is protecting many of our children right now? 🙏🏼
My grandma is a teacher at a low income school in my town, and she has these two kids in her class that she bathes every day, washes their clothes, and brings them a packed lunch. These kids live in a meth house, and that was confirmed.. my grandma is the only hope these kids have and it’s so sad.
@@Emilylarson4404 and child services knows all this ??? America is so backwards ... this system only cares once that child is harmed severely or worse.. killed. And they don’t take anything into accountability
@@symonelop3z you have to cut the social workers at child services a little slack. They care A LOT but they have to meet GOVERNMENT qualifications and standards to take children away from parents. If you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at the people who are in control of the standards that need to be met to protect children. Kendall Rae even said the social worker DID report a lot of the things that happened, but there wasn't enough proof to legally do anything about it :(
I’m sorry to her family but this is all on the mom. She neglected her and let her go with a guy who was obviously a predator. I just hope that Relisha gets the justice she deserves.
And the dad and stepfather too. Nobody talks about them, they are all blaming the mom (who is to blame) but everyone is forgetting that it takes two to create a child
I definitely think she was trafficked. That man worked in a homeless shelter as a janitor with a bunch of money and expensive shoes?? He took advantage of where he worked finding families of poverty and neglect. Hoping she’s okay wherever she is..
Its breaks my heart and it sickens me to say this but a homeless shelter full of minority children and young people is like the perfect breeding ground for predators or traffickers. No one’s going to sound the alarm if a homeless black/brown child goes missing from a homeless shelter , smh
I like to imagine in an alternative universe, Relisha's young intelligence got attention and was actually swept away by secret services to begin her training and new secret life. But alas, nope.
i know it’s complicated and we don’t know all the details, but how in good faith could her aunt or grandma force her to go back home when she was clearly terrified of it
The fact that her mother was just okay with her hanging out with some 50-something dude is just so incredibly sad and wrong. There's no way to justify that at all. He took advantage of a little girl that nobody was looking out for, which is exactly what predators do. He bought her nice things and took her places and gained her trust. She didn't deserve what happened to her or the situation she was put in. I hope we get justice for her.

@@isabelberger9441 I truly think the social worker involved in her case cared about her. The social worker's hands were legally tied, and that's extremely unfortunate.
nah. there are many things that are suspicious about her mother's behaviour but that's not one of them. she could've not wanted to participate in that part of the show because she had concerns that the lie detector would give false results for a number of reasons, including her addiction. afaik drug use can affect your heart rate and can make you twitchy which can really mess with polygraph test results, as can anxiety issues. refusing a polygraph =/= an admission of guilt and pushing the narrative that anyone who doesn't want to take one has something to hide can jeopardise cases. they're not admissible in court for good reason.
"He picked me up and I didn't get a weird feeling", PLEASE REMEMBER: predators can often turn on the charm, and child predators infiltrate families to gain trust because as sad as it is, adults can be mislead by the suave and the charm, so that they feel comfortable with their child when under "normal" circumstances this would be a different story
Even if he’s the most charming man on the face of the earth and she didn’t feel uncomfortable and , it really bothers me that no one in that family thought it was strange that he only took interest in Relisha. No one in that shelter thought it was strange that he only showed interest in the little girls and the teenage girls.

@@mekeiawatson The minute I heard this scenario I was like hell no. There's no way her family didn't realize what was going on. Her mother at least must have known and just didn't do shit
The “mother” sold her. To hell with her and the rest of the adults that failed her. This story always makes me so sad for this baby girl. She had the potential not to be a loser like the rest of her adult family.
I think it’s a little more complex than that (not to say the mother did anything right at all lol) intergenerational poverty played a huge role here I don’t think all the members of her adult family are losers, especially not Antonio and Melissa. They were literally born into a cycle of poverty which is nearly impossible to end....

That guy absolutely killed Relisha. Lye, trash bags, and a shovel? Yeah. She's gone. More than that, it sounds like he confessed to his wife, who clearly didn't give the response he liked, because he killed her, too.
I'm so angry with him. Before he decided to commit suicide he should have at the very least put in a note what happened to her and where she could be found.
@@ieshaanderson2498 There’s something kind of strange about the circumstances of his death. The police publicly stated that he died from an apparent suicide from A gunshot wound to the head. But when Shameka appeared on the Steve Wilkos show, she said that she doesn’t believe that Khalil‘s death was a suicide because according to her, you can’t shoot yourself two times in the head. The police never mentioned anything about there being two gunshot wound‘s. It’s pretty suspicious when somebody in a case knows information that the police didn’t publicly disclose. That’s often a sign that they could be a viable suspect. And incidentally, this is why people say that you should never speak to the police without first consulting with an attorney. Because you could end up accidentally saying stuff that could incriminate you.
@@ieshaanderson2498 I looked at a video of a case. The police chief who was chief of police at the time that Tatum was found dead, a new police chief has since taken over, stated that his death appeared to be a suicide. But they didn’t confirm at the time because of death.
How did Relisha’s mom stay chill about not talking/seeing her child for three whole weeks?! She definitely had something to do with this. Poor baby deserved better 💔

I knew how this story was going to go as soon as Kendall started talking about the gifts and outings. That’s exactly what my step-father was like. I’m heartbroken and probably not going to sleep tonight.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. I did social work for almost 15 years and saw so many cases like this. I ended up almost having a nervous breakdown and had to leave the work. I am infertile and seeing these children broke my heart. And it was SO FRUSTRATING because you could only go so far with the case. Just awful. Abuse, neglect, EVIL! Makes me ill.
Totally understand you. I did social work with children and adolescents. Predominantly with underprivileged communities. I loved it, but 17 years later really took a toll on me. I had to give it up. I haven't been the same since. I myself developed anxiety. It really is tough out there. Thanks for your service. 👍
I will never understand how monsters like this always have perfectly healthy children, yet loving people that actually want kids and would take care of them can’t.
Idk which kind of cases break my heart more: those where the cps and the system fails the kids or the ones where they are doing all they possibly can but the parents are preventing kids from being helped...
I believe you and the overload of cases Social Services every year get has to stop. Either they have to hire more Social Workers or assistants to you all. The Justice system needs to take missing and neglected children more seriously.
I'm from Maryland and worked in SE, DC. Relisha's disappearance was headline news in my area when it first happened. The system truly failed her and I was hoping her case would get more national coverage. You actually uncovered so many details I hadn't previously heard. Thank you so much for covering this story, Kendall.
This case infuriates me. Bless her coach and teachers for being the only people in her life that cared. That poor baby girl was let down by all her family members. I can’t imagine a mother just not caring.
Caring for my son, dressing him, taking care of his hair, helping with his homework is the best part of my day every day. I know it’s not this gratifying for everyone but I can’t fathom these people who neglect their babies. Like every instinct in your body should be to care for your child. Poor Relisha 💔
Proud of Kendall for staying concrete when talking about Black Girls and People Of Color instead of fumbling around terminology like most youtubers - Kendall know wtf she's saying and how to say it to empower POC and be bold about it. Loudly talking about Black Girls not getting the same attention as white girls is so MF IMPORTANT and Kendall crushes it every time. Her representation is on point, and representation MATTERS.
If her mom wasn’t involved in her daughter’s disappearance, she would be doing everything she could to help the media and get exposure for this case. I feel so awful for this poor baby.
Can you please cover the case of Arianna Fitts? It is about a little African-American girl (toddler) who went missing after her mother was found murdered in a park. There is suspicion that a volunteer from a homeless shelter committed these crimes. Not many people know about this case. Could you please cover it?

Lore B. Yes. And this didn’t require input from any of you. As a black woman from the area this case took place in, I have an added interest in this case. This could have easily been my goddaughter or a member of my church. That’s it. It wasn’t a diss to whatever you identify as. Stop taking it that way. It says more about you all than me.
Foster to adopt. It's cheap or sometimes free. You can choose age, sex and many other factors about which child(ren) you are willing or able to foster.
When I was being abused I'd stay at every afterschool program and help at the church for as many hours as possible. I feel for that little girl and I know she was trying her best with what she had.
Grooming needs to be spoken about more. So many people think that predators are these outwardly monsterous people but it's the Tatum types that need to be spoken about more. The type that gain your trust and become apart of your life so much so that it's difficult to see them as predators at all.
Yeah he also acted like most groomers do. He selected a child that wasnt well protected by it s family. They also look for children who dont have anyone to turn to when the abuse happened. They also often select families who have financial problems so they can buy their way in. They often turn away when they see that the relationship with a parent or another adult is close.
This is so incredibly disturbing and makes me so upset that she just fell through SO many cracks! I hope we eventually get some answers on this case. Praying for Ralisha.
I’ve only seen brief information on this story I just knew she vanished if it was for Kendall I wouldn’t even know what happened other than she vanished
My theory: the mom was tired of having so many kids, that she decided to leave one behind with a stranger, a suspicious man at that, knowing he'd love to have her and hang around her. Little girls are easy bait and thus the daughter was the easiest one to get rid off, one less burden for the mom. Sorry for writing it in such a cynical way, but people are cruel like this sometimes.
I honestly feel it was more Sinister than this because yes I'm sure she was overwhelmed and when the opportunity presented itself she had no quarrels with straight up selling her child. I don't think she left her with someone because it would be easier on her, because then she's losing whatever benefits she probably got from that child! the only way she's going to make something out of it is if she straight-up sells her poor baby and makes a profit which it looks like she did😢
I will never understand why people have children when they clearly don’t have the means to take care of them. Whether financial or otherwise. And more than one kid too?! Gtfo. People think having children is a game
As a mother, I cannot understand parents that don't protect and take care of their kids! Whatever socioeconomic background you have, it doesn't cost ANYTHING to love your child, to brush their hair, to wash their clothes, to spend time with them and make sure they're not left alone to fend for themselves in a world full of people who may take advantage of them. But when it's the parent that is victimizing their own child, that is a whole other level of evil that I will never be able to wrap my head and heart around. My heart breaks for this little girl. She never had a chance. 💔🙏💔
There's a lot about this situation that I don't understand. I don't want to come across as judgmental or harsh given Relisha's disappearance, which is the focus of this video, and truly children from all walks of life vanish also.
@@roseandrews8523 Absolutely! It's not judgmental to say that parents should be the ones protecting and taking care of their own child! But I have no remorse for parents like this because she put her own child in harm's way! My heart breaks for Relisha. SHE is the victim.
As a non-mother, I will never understand “mothers” who neglect / abuse their kids. I never wanted children, for a myriad of reasons, and that’s just fine. However, I’ve had many babies and older children in my care (friends and family’s) and I cannot fathom turning any child over to someone potentially dangerous, or doing anything less than loving them. I never once let a child in my care out of my sight for a second. I also would never let a strange man (or women) cozy up to them. Shamika not only severely neglected her daughter and handed her straight into the arms of evil... but failed to simply love her. However, everyone else in the family, in my opinion, is just as horrid. That grandmother KNEW better... they all did! If anyone in my life treated their child this way, and I knew about it, even if I only slightly suspected, it would be up to me to follow through with necessary measures to ensure that child gets the love and protection they need. I would fight the most for a child like Relisha! The poor little girl didn’t even want to leave school, but had nowhere to go. Heartbreaking! I’m so beyond angry with the so-called “mother.” As a side note: Don’t these “mothers” ask themselves how would THEY feel if they were their own children and neglected / abused? I’ve been waiting for you to cover this one Kendall! Her mom wouldn’t take a polygraph test on Steve wilkos show and when Steve confronted her about her shadiness and Khalil’s “suicide”, her response was “my prints aren’t on anything”. I don’t trust the mother one bit.

love that you make videos on 'unpopular' cases to bring awareness. Especially issues within society and the system, there is a huge lack of attention to cases involving basically anyone not white and wealthy. This reminds me a bit of the Gabriel Fernandez case, just a complete lack of motivation from the police and child protective services to do what they need to do.
When Kendall said the man was “coming to get Relisha” I got so creeped out. That is just so strange and I wish her grandmother wouldn’t have let her go...
Mother also had fuck up childhood and i bet her mental health too, its where this careless coming from, she doesn’t know what is bad or good , abuse is fine for her
i'm really suspicious about the mother. there's almost no way she didn't straight up sell her daughter. why else would she refuse to take the lie detector test AND leave her daughter with a random man that wasn't even related to any of them?
i agree other than the lie detector part. those get stuff wrong all the time and they're not admissible in court anyway. any good lawyer would have told her not to take it.
Why was the mom in foster care when the grandmother was still around, obviously that family has been dysfunctional for generations, no wonder the mom didn't know how to take care of her children, she probably wasn't taken care of as a child either and went on and continued that cycle. Even when Relisha had adults in her life that did care like her teachers and at herafter-school activities it wasn't enough, this problem runs deep.
Kendall does so much charity for so many organizations! Meanwhile there are these greedy UA-camrs unnecessarily spending it all on useless and multiple designer bags, clothes, shoes...
@@Xforeverlove21 I agree! I’m sure a lot of them also live outside of their means. Whereas Kendall seems to really be mindful of where her $$ is going while also making an financial impact when she can. All the meanwhile, she does what she loves while bringing so much attention to these often tragic cases with an empathetic heart and, sometimes, light hearted humour. True champ in my books! Many other UA-camrs who do similar material really do it in poor taste and aren’t mindful of how their message can affect people. What a solid good heart. Huge fan!
It would seem the mother “sold” her daughter to the janitor and I’m guessing for drug money. He either sold her or something happened and she died. Either way everyone failed this poor sweet girl and it’s so heartbreaking. This sweet baby deserved so much more!
Dear Kendall, I wanted to thank you for talking about Relisha. We've seen national episode after national episode about Madelyn McCann, Jon Bennet Ramsey, Natalee Holloway, and Holli Bobo. Yet, I have never seen a 20/20 on Relisha's disappearance. No one's child is more valuable than another, yet clearly in America that is not the case. I'm devastated. Thank you again.
Finally! This is exactly what I felt immediately. It felt obvious with the facts stated. No mother would allow her daughter to be with a strange person. I knew then, she was letting him butter her up so she would go with him willingly.
I'm 13 years old while watching this. Let's just say this video has made me SO grateful for my great parents even though I sometimes tell myself I wish I had different parents I realise how AMAZING my parents really are. I can't imagine being Reliaha. I can't imagine not having a parent's love.😥
Put more pressure on the mothers you mean. To look after them and keep them safe. You can be poor and living in a shelter but thats not an excuse to not love, nurture and keep your child safe. Many other mothers do it everyday.
Absolutely disgusting that her "mother" just handed her over to a man she didnt even really know and they weren't related to. This beautiful child deserved so much more, so incredibly sad. I hope this case is solved and this sweet girl can be brought home.
Why didn't the mother get arrested? This is putting the wrong idea out there that you can give your child to some random weird person, the child come up missing, and there will be no consequences towards the person responsible for the child. This is ridiculous.
Because she mentioned that she's been knowing the janitor for awhile and there's no proof that she' let her child be with him, for the exchange of drugs or money. I'm just stating facts and how the law works. My instinct says that she sold her child to the janitor and other people feel this as well but the fact still remains that there's no actual proof that this took place
This case breaks my heart. When you talked about how she was so active in school and always wanted to stay with the teachers, I teared up, because I have been that child.
He was probably paying her some money and she knew what was going on. He was grooming a child.
Why do I feel like this was the only was she felt she could he supplied with drugs

Right!!👏
Exactly. She's just an egg donar
Pretty sure that can be said for all the children that came out of her.
God. Every adult in that child's life failed her. Poor girl.
I know right. The only adults that seemed to care for her were her cheerleading coach and her teachers. 😭 But they were limited in what they could do...
I feel like the aunt (Ashley) was the only family member who at least tried to do right by her. Those teachers are angels.
@@isabelberger9441 I truly think the social worker involved in her case cared about her. The social worker wrote in the report about what they saw, but they have to meet goverment standards to intervene and take a child out of a home. The fact that THE MOTHER refused a lie detector speaks volumes. Regardless is it’s admissible or not
nah. there are many things that are suspicious about her mother's behaviour but that's not one of them. she could've not wanted to participate in that part of the show because she had concerns that the lie detector would give false results for a number of reasons, including her addiction. afaik drug use can affect your heart rate and can make you twitchy which can really mess with polygraph test results, as can anxiety issues. refusing a polygraph =/= an admission of guilt and pushing the narrative that anyone who doesn't want to take one has something to hide can jeopardise cases. they're not admissible in court for good reason.
@@paige3805 Thank you.
A judge used his test in court 💯 i watched that episode & followed the case
The family going on a trash talk show is what speaks volumes.

I want everyone arrested! The shelter workers, social workers, her mom, her aunt. This makes me so sad smh
The mother is the main person responsible. She did not care for her little girl at all.
@@KalvinGarrah just because you’re poor doesn’t mean you have to be a horrible person. I know poor people who are still good parents. I even know drug addicts who are still protective of their children.
To further Queen A's point, a lot of the time abuse is apparent in poverty stricken communities but the mothers, the aunts, the grandmothers (and a lot of the men too) have experienced it so they are that much more protective of kids being around shady characters... good people, no matter their "class" protect children, period.
Exactly she didn't even want to be around them she probably rather be around a man who was most likely grooming her and or abusing her than to be with her family smfh

How did Relisha’s mom stay chill about not talking/seeing her child for three whole weeks?! She definitely had something to do with this. Poor baby deserved better 💔

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed, it’s that a lot of people who don’t want kids of their own are the same people who would make incredible parents, and the people popping them out left and right are usually absolutely awful parents.
I wish it was the other way around
@@zknight4481 mostly bc ppl who don’t want kids are usually more focused on their futures, this naturally would make them good parents as they are prepared and are for the future, meanwhile the ones “popping them out” are usually living in the moment, a terrible environment for the kids.
I TOTALLY AGREE !!! There are so many neglected children that just need a guardian who cares and will protect them. It hurts my heart knowing that so many children have left this world without ever feeling safe or truly loved, and usually because the system just lets them fall through the cracks :(
That is a beautiful dream. I get miserable thinking about how much sickness there is in the world. I really hope you can do that one day, we need more good people to spread goodness into the world

My theory: the mom was tired of having so many kids, that she decided to leave one behind with a stranger, a suspicious man at that, knowing he'd love to have her and hang around her. Little girls are easy bait and thus the daughter was the easiest one to get rid off, one less burden for the mom.
Sorry for writing it in such a cynical way, but people are cruel like this sometimes.
this is exactly what i thought too. Free solution to her ''problem''. Poor excuse of a human, much less a mother.

I don't think she left her with someone because it would be easier on her, because then she's losing whatever benefits she probably got from that child! the only way she's going to make something out of it is if she straight-up sells her poor baby and makes a profit which it looks like she did😢

I’m so beyond angry with the so-called “mother.”
As a side note: Don’t these “mothers” ask themselves how would THEY feel if they were their own children and neglected / abused? Don’t they see their kids are helpless? Apparently they have brains they size of a pea, so they are incapable of such thought.. and hearts even smaller, on a microscopic level.

i'm really suspicious about the mother. there's almost no way she didn't straight up sell her daughter. why else would she refuse to take the lie detector test AND leave her daughter with a random man that wasn't even related to any of them?
Exactly, didn't report or bat an eye when her 8 year old daughter was missing for days/weeks at a time, she 100% knew what was going on.
i agree other than the lie detector part. those get stuff wrong all the time and they're not admissible in court anyway. any good lawyer would have told her not to take it.
Why wasn’t the mother further investigated, charged with child neglect or anything?!

There’s no reason things should go unsolved. Especially in the NATIONS CAPITAL. the president lives here for crying out loud. But i guess that doesn’t matter when the world is corrupt
Same I’m from here too and this case hasn’t stopped haunting me yet
Yup!!! I was born there. Not pretty. I feel so bad for this poor baby girl 😢😢💔💔
How hasn't the mother been arrested for neglect, for not seeing her child for three weeks, for not ensuring she goes to school (unexcused absences), for STILL claiming she was with "Dr. Tatum" knowing good and well that he was the janitor in the very same shelter, for pretending she was there during role call?.... Why? I'm so sorry Sweet Relisha, may the Lord be with you and guard you wherever you are.
There was an indictment and a grand jury voted on whether to hold the mother criminally responsible for misleading police.... grand jury voted no to indictment. Really makes you wonder what police know that we don’t 🤷🏻♂️
@@CalmAfterTheStormPodcast oh my God!! Thank you so much for your reply
