one of the issues i have is that…what does a grown woman have in common with a 15 year old boy? why do they call and text each other and hang out regularly like that? she’s like twice his age and she hangs out with him like they’re besties. then i was like oh maybe he wanted to hang out with Summer but she’s five years old. a 15 year old and a 5 year old wouldn’t have anything in common either. the relationships don’t add up at all.

Ehhh, I sort of got the vibe that Candice and Hunter had more of an "aunt and nephew" type of relationship. They are close family friends, and she still wanted to keep that relationship even though she had fallen out with his mother because she considered Hunter as a son. This is honestly pretty normal, at least in small town country settings.

I have a friend who lives about a mile from Don & Candus, and this is what she is saying.
    1. Candus is a known drug addict and her drugs of choice are heroin and meth, but crack will suffice if meth isn't available.
    2. The 'true' reason that Candus, Summer, and all 3 boys had their heads shaved is because they had lice so badly, but were so uncared for, that they chose to shave their heads. Apparently Summer was devastated to have her head shaved, worried that she couldn't wear bows and clips in her hair if it was shaved, but Don kept shaving it to prevent a reoccurrence.
    3. Don was accused of rape (incest) by his sister who alleges that it happened her entire childhood. He denies this. However, Summer would do certain things when she was around other men that was wildly inappropriate for a 5 year old girl to do. These actions are typical of small children that are being sexually assaulted by a man, and he fits the profile.
    4. Don is a very aggressive, violent man. He would beat his children when they did anything he didn't like, and it was known by everyone who knew this family. That is part of the reason the boys were taken by Child Protective Services. Another reason was...
    5. Their house was filthy. You see how nasty it was during an interview? Apparently that is immaculate compared to how filthy it was prior to this happening. The police department is the one who reported the state of the house to CPS and they acted immediately.
This is just some of what I've been told, and it really paints a picture. I feel confident that they are 100% responsible for what happened to Summer. They are pathetic and disgusting.

As someone who grew up with an alcoholic father and an physically impaired mother, I can say this with absolute certainty. Even if they truly *tried* to be the best parents possible to their four kids while being addicts (which I seriously doubt), those children would end up being neglected in one way or another, if not abused. These parents are 100% being dishonest about what life was like before Summer’s disappearance, which makes it all the more likely they’re lying about what happened *during* her disappearance. I feel awful for those poor kids, and I really don’t trust either of them. It’s all just pretty damn shady.

I find it extremely odd how the mother swears her daughter was abducted but she thought it was a good idea to send her three sons (WHO ARE MINORS) to the woods alone when, according to her, there’s a person abducting children nearby. Like what kind of mother feels comfortable leaving her other children alone immediately after one of them gets abducted? A mother wouldn’t let them out of her sight.

She was just on the phone with Don, how on earth was she on her own phone if it doesn't get service there? This story just doesn't add up at all. I think it's extremely concerning that the parents in all interviews are speaking about Summer in past tense. On top of other factors it can be neglect, especially because it's hard to get lice out of a dirty home so chronic lice can be compounding evidence for poor hygiene.

Paranoid neighbors who don't want land searched. Typical. If you got more than a dozen dogs, one will always be barking so you become earblind to it. But the drug activity around the area is troubling. Not sure if I trust the 15 year old entirely but who knows. I need more information. I’m definitely suspicious of Hunter. The way he behaves during this video is so odd. If Summer is like a little sister to him, how is he so happy and humorous in the interview about her missing? He teases his mom giving her a hard time about answering his call finally, he brags about being a “tech guy”, and is able to laugh. I also think it’s weird no one is more focused on Hunter lying about the phone call Candace had- it seems to me like he is trying to make a suspect for people to look at. Why didn’t they ask him why his version of the phone call doesn’t match Candace or Dons? He also suggests her lungs are injured by the water after getting out of it. The way he talks in his interview is giving “its cool to be so close to this famous event” or like he’s trying to make candus seem super involved. Especially the part where he talks about what he overheard on the phone call to Don. Saying that “there was a guy on their property walking around and wanting to touch the kids” and when the reporter asks him to clarify what touch means he plays dumb and says “idk to hug them?” Something about that struck me as very odd. I just want to point something out because I had a FAMILY member go “MISSING” once. My BROTHER. He’s special needs/nonverbal autistic and mentally disabled. I was watching him one early Saturday morning. We were out front on the porch. I had to go to the bathroom which was about 20 feet away from the front door. I left the front door open and the bathroom door open so I can listen to him. I was in the bathroom not more than 60 seconds. I go back outside and he’s gone. I search the sides of the house, the back yard, inside the house. Nothing. I’m seriously panicking. I run down to one end of the street then the other, looking everywhere in case he wandered off. 20 minutes later I called the cops. I then called my mom sobbing telling her what’s happening and she says “what are you talking about? His part time Saturday caretaker picked him up. She said she popped her head in and yelled that she was there and took him” I was livid. The caretaker either lied about announcing herself or I simply didn’t hear her. So it is entirely possible to be in close proximity and not hear a dang thing.

Agreed. I live in the woods and I am not sure I would register the sounds someone would make moving through the woods. There is so much natural noise in nature it would drown out a human walking. I lost my dog once and tried to listen for her and you don't realize how deafening nature is until you try to hear through it. I wanted to yell at the wind and rustling trees to SHUT UP!

I was thinking this as well. There is a case that happened recently in Australia where a little girl was abducted from a camp site. The perpetrator unzipped the tent and lifted the child out in a sleeping bag without anyone waking up. At first my mind couldn’t make sense of it, but the more I think about it the more I realise that the child’s parents weren’t expecting her to go missing. I reckon we pass abnormal things off ALL the time without even realising it.

The one statement that dispatch makes of “the mother went for a walk”, is easily explainable, in my opinion. Candice actually says in a few other interviews “I walked back over to my mom’s trailer” after walking Summer to their house when she wanted to go inside. I think it was just a miscommunication in the 911 call between Candice and the dispatcher or between 2 dispatchers when relaying the information. So, not suspicious or conflicting accounts from Candice to me.

As someone who has a family member who neglects to properly care for her children, I fully believe they shaved her head because of lice and not wanting to properly treat her hair with medicated shampoos. My cousin has done this to her little girls on multiple occasions and it is sad. For some girls, their hair is their livelihood and taking it away can be like a form of mental abuse. Including his claim that the phone call in the pharmacy was about a 'strange man lurking the property, touching the kids' despite the fact that both parents ever denied this convo. It puts spotlight on 'someone else', which is very convenient. He could have easily lured her out her house, as she knew and trusted him. He should be looked into.

He keeps trying to make everyone close to Summer look bad (parents included) whilst distancing himself as much as possible. Two things that stood out in this case: the parents refer to their daughter in the past tense in the interview at the beginning, which could be a red flag. Also, they report her missing, within 10 minutes of discovering that she isn't in the basement. Wouldn't they search for awhile first. Also, they immediately jump to the conclusion that she was abducted. This seems unlikely, because how would the abductor know that she was in the basement? Also, it's an isolated property, that isn't easily accessible. If I was the police, I would verify the timelines, by looking at CCTV in the stores, or talking to the employees. Then I would look at the cell phone records to figure out when the calls were made, and what text messages were sent and when. Once you have a verified timeline, then you can confront the inconsistencies in the stories. The family is key to this case...that's my gut instinct.

No one truly knows how they would react to their child being missing. I don't think we should judge these parents just because they may parent differently or live differently than another family. The fact that it's been a year and they haven't found her, leads me to believe she was taken.

    • @dadscold
      @dadscold Рік тому

while I partially agree with you, these parents are clearly drug addicts. i've seen several people theorize that Summer was possibly abducted by the mother's drug dealer. and possibly BECAUSE of the mother (i.e. sex trafficking, selling her for more drug money, or because of debt from the drug use). Just a possibility, and one I feel should definitely be considered. Another piece of information that I didn't hear mentioned in Kendall's video is that the mother (Candace) has ANOTHER member of her family that mysteriously disappeared without a trace. It was her younger sister, who disappeared over a decade ago in another state. I don't know how likely that is for somebody to have TWO missing people from their family, that have practically vanished from the Earth without a trace.
