    Andy, I really like what you do with those old mustangs. I Built and painted two 1964-1/2, and two 1966 mustangs with my dad and brother growing up in the 90’s. Best time of my life learning from our dad how to complete the whole car from scratch. Me and my brother still have our cars and I’m in a position this year to do that 347 upgrade myself along with the T-5 transmission and Wilwood disc brakes. I love my car the way it is too but those upgrades really do add great power as well as stopping power and control. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work for all of us who still have these stallions. Ive been taking notes on what I need to do for each project you post. Many thanks my friend.

    I spent about the same amount this past summer rebuilding my 289 in my Fastback. I kept the 289, had it machined, bored and essentially did the same where I upgraded almost everything to include aluminum heads, cam, pistons and rods. The car screams now so I can only imagine having over 50 more CI on a roller block. One thing I'd recommend is a billet MSD ready to run distributor. It was pricey but it's an important piece to maximize power. Enjoy the car!

    Definitely hold on to that 289 block. Something that was pointed out to me by the Machinists I work with is that the 289/early 302 blocks do not have the issues with cracking down the middle that the 85 and later 302 blocks have. There's no exact number at what the horsepower the later 302s can handle, from what I've heard and read it is between 500 to 600. The vast majority of us are not building motors to put down 500 horsepower. Just thought I'd share that with you although I'm pretty sure you knew this. I mean come on you're "The Andy Kruse", . Sweet looking engine Andy. What was the reason for the vacuum secondaries? Is he claiming compatability with camshaft/compression? Usually, if manual transmission, then mechanical secondaries for peak performance. If it was me, looking at your numbers, I would be tempted to go with a Holley dual feed double pumper, mechanical secondaries, 650 or 700 cfm model. But that is because you are going with a manual transmission. Vacuum secondaries will save a little fuel, maybe in street conditions and depending on camshaft/compression radicality, which with the price of fuel is something to consider. Looking good. This is getting exciting. Keep going brother!

      @AndyKruseChannel  4 місяці тому +1

      You may be able to find someone to build your 302 into a monster for less than the cost of a crate engine, like I did, but it comes at the cost of time. You could buy a crate engine today and have it in your car by next week, but getting your engine built could take a month or more. 🙂

      It will last as long as I don't do 5k clutch drops. Even doing some spirited driving this trans will be fine, it's just when you throw over 300 ftlbs at it in a split second is when parts will begin to break. We can say the same thing for that 8" rear. I don't know how many burnouts I can get out of this setup before she breaks, but the bright side would mean it's time for an upgrade. :)

    Your engine builder knows. You can put a domiinator on that motor or smaller displacements as well. Use the most cfm you can afford.
    I have a 67 Fadtback and I spent waaaay more. Billet scat crankshaft to start. Same type of oil pan but Milodon. Go road racing and then that pan is worth every penny. I drive my car but dont push it to win so go have fun. 2006 Boss 302 block, h-beams, titanium valves in John Kasse canted valve heads. Novi 1500 supercharge keeps it breathing into the 8000 rpm redline. Sickness. And then my buddy build his 10K reving sb chevy...extra sickness. Lol
