I'm just posting a new comment here to hopefully revive this thread so that some new folks will hear how wonderful this song and this lady are. Pure heartfelt emotion.
Jonell has been a longtime friend and she is still performing all over and especially in Nashville for over 30 years. But, she rarely sings this song in concerts or at events...unless you request it. Then she effortlessly slays it. She is a sweet, humble and talented lady...love you Jo. She would be happy you are giving this exposure for all these years.
my grandad always plays this song, whenever i go over to his. i think it is my favourite, and it may be his also. is there anything more beautiful than song? perhaps not
Love, love, love this version of this song. It's hard to improve on most Motown hits, but this is haunting! This version of this song absolutely breaks my heart - great job Ms. Mosser - that's exactly what a sad song is supposed to do. Very different, but another cool remake of an awesome old Motown song is the Stones version of Just My Imagination.
@@BuffaloKelly711 Just took your advice, and wow; her voice is beautiful:) I'll be checking out more of her stuff for sure - thank you! I'll volley...check out Daniela Andrade's cover of Crazy in Love, or La Vie en Rose. She is another vocalist/guitarist with a beautiful voice.
Oh Boy! I love this woman's voice. Tearing the Internet apart for more tracks! Saw a Video track. What a great live performer. Not seen a woman singer with this kind of juice since Julie London, Crystal Gale, with just a hint of Janis Joplin! Not for many years! Jazz or C&W this woman can do it all!
way late to this but heard about it from CKUA radio in Alberta. It played on Wide Cut Country on Easter weekend 2024 - long time from when it was sung/produced. As we drove up to visit some family my wife pulled it from UA-cam and played it out loud and clear on the car stereo - stopped me up and held me dear. Absolutely lush, gorgeous, and so filled with longing and love. Thank you Jonell Mosser for reinterpreting this great song. You not only dusted it off I put it beside Jimi Hendrix' version of the Dylan's song All Along the Watchtower. Like him, you wove another story out of it. Thank you.
Stunning! Once in a great while somebody Takes a great song and makes it there own And that is what has transpired here. My wife was watching hope floats and the song was Playing in the background. I new the words but wasn't sure Of the song at first such a different groove. But it's in the pocket (AMAZING)!!!
Donnie Maghoney same here. Watching hope floats now and I was thinking wait a minute I know that song but I never really listened to the words. Brilliant rendition.
Nashville percussionist and writer Cathey Stamps did this arrangement for Yo' Mama - a band she, Mosser and Kathy Mac performed in since the 80s. Sounds as good as ever!
Nashville percussionist and songwriter Cathey Stamps did this uncredited arrangement when she , Mosser and Kathy Mac performed in Yo' Mama. Jonell still nails it!
Please tell her there is an English bass man in Spain wanting to say, excuse me I think you broke my heart to! Maybe she will say hi one the Thunder Road?
I never believed this song comming from Diana Ross, maybe because she *was* the other woman in real life, also because there just isn't any emotion in her singing. This song needs to have a singer who can express that vulnerability. Jonell carries it off. The arrangement helps. The DC based singer Mary Ann Redmond did a similar version on one of her albums.

I didn't know how painful it is before, until I heard it again..😥
Jonell's version allows you to really feel the words. A good song raised to perfection!
By far, the absolute best rendition of this song - so moving!
Donna Hill I so agree, it’s got more emotion to it

If you love this like I do, listen to Liz Longley's version of "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch"...same level.

Give Don Was credit as producer. To see that Jonell would be so perfect for this and to arrange it this was. Genius. And typical for him
My FAV version of this song!!! Her voice is unbelievable 🖤

@ProudScotsmanRex There is a lot of country music like this!!! :) I don't like that new stuff but this is amazing.
Is this when you were "cream of corn"
Is there an instrumental version to so I can learn for open mic?
Hello ... Good for you .... Goodbye ... How are you ....
Please tell her there is an English bass man in Spain wanting to say, excuse me I think you broke my heart to! Maybe she will say hi one the Thunder Road?
I like the way she sings it than the supremes. The slower beat is better.
