I love how none of them even question Scout's suggestion. There's one braincell between them all and 99% of the time Engi has it. 1% to give Heavy some credit.
I like to imagine that for each merc that tried to kill Heavy and Engie, they themselves end up busting their knee which makes them a target for the remaining mercs until all of them are sprawled out on the ground with busted knees crying out for salvation
I have no freaking clue how this video was only around two minutes. It felt so full and cinematic I genuinely thought it was five, although I was pausing and laughing my ass off a lot during it. Every merc has such a distinct way of carrying themselves, that attention to detail is amazing. SFM has never been more golden - man, this is just great
I love how medic implies that he can’t do anything, but then immediately pulls out an amputator (which heals people when played) I like to think that medic knew that he could’ve easily saved engie and heavy but would’ve rather mercy killed them
It would take quite some time to kill both of them with an amputator. In fact, if you do the damage math, you'll find both of their broken legs would have naturally healed before the medic could have come anywhere close to killing them, providing he went for the heavy first which is what was implied. Kinda defeats the point of a mercy killing. Also, heavy can still fight back, as his weapon are his fists, which are pretty much the same range if not longer than anything besides soldiers shotgun. He could easily take care of the melee targets. All he'd have to do is disarm he soldier somehow, perhaps take him by surprise first.
When Heavy pulled out his sandvich, I thought he was just gonna "mercy-kill" Engi by beating the ever-loving shit out of him with said sandvich, but him being an actual reliable friend made me smile, even if he immediately failed.
The inclusion of the "Loop end" theme from Outer Wilds really just triggered some flashbacks for me, unexpected but completely fitting. Brilliant, I enjoyed that
What's ironic about this is that Medic is using the Amputator. The weapon that, when Medic taunts, heals nearby teammates with an AOE healing effect. This means Medic had the full means of healing both Engineer and Heavy, but resorted to murdering them anyway, fitting for his personality.
1:53 - I'm fascinated by this series of shots in particular. For those who don't know, this is referred to as a Dolly zoom. Originally pioneered by Alfred Hitchcock for the movie Vertigo, a Dolly zoom involves zooming the camera out from the scene while also moving the camera to keep the focus of the shot in the same position throughout. If you've ever seen Jaws, it's also used in that scene where the police chief realizes that there's a shark lurking in the water. I never expected to see professional-level cinematography in a 2 minute-long SFM animation, but it is Winglet so I guess I should've expected that lol
