Quack yeah it’s a pretty easy song on acoustic except for the final riff... the final riff is hard on an electric, but it’s next level on an acoustic, trying to learn the final riff on acoustic myself right now
The Suspicious Doge yeah it’s tough, I’ve been practising that riff alone for like hours on my acoustic... alternating picking instead of just down picking helps and keeping your index finger on the 1st fret during the 2 - 1 - 2 -1 helps as well but it’s still very tough
This comment makes me feel good about myself as I play all the Slipknot songs on my acoustic (except the solos of course becz the action is too damn high) as I can't afford an electric :)
U guys may not realize it, but mick thompson actually tuned 1/4 a step higher than drop b in his tracks for many songs in the album. This video sounds detuned for that reason. But this guy is playing it just fine. Check it out if u dont believe me, use a tuner and see if it matches up with the original recording, ull notice that its a bit higher pitched in one ear.
2:21 i've played guitar for 3 more years and that riff still fucking hurts. My pinky isn't strong enough to bar, so i just use my ring, index, and middle finger, and it's nearly impossible for me
Haha, thanks man! ) Yeah, it did take some time to learn until my wrist stop giving up, especially at the end of the song )) Did you cover this track? Will be nice to hear bass version )
i sounds like the guitar is out of tune, but really it isn't. somehow they used something between a drop C and drop B tuning on the selftitled album. when my guitar is tuned to drop B, it sound right for all the slipknot song except for those of the selftitled album. there the tuning always sounds a bit off. anyone else noticed the same?
+Sicklehead88 Yeah think you're right there, the whole first album is drop-B but pitched up slightly somewhere between B and C. Machine Head use the same tuning I think and Pantera use to do something similar with their tunings. If you have a tuner where you can change the cents if you set it somewhere around 430-435hz and tune to it as normal it should sound right. Or just listen out to the recording and tune to that I guess...
slipknot used b for their whole first album, did a few in a during Iowa and then started to do more and more in a. the nameless, vendetta and sarcastrophe are all in a
I'm looking into learning metal songs and I'm investing in thicker strings, does anyone know what kind of pick would be better? I used fender medium ones now for my strings
+Stardust_456 I always use heavy picks. Lately I've been using Dunlop .88 nylons when I practice. I also have Fender Heavy celluloids. I find that this article also gives some good insight for what you might be looking for: www.premierguitar.com/articles/How_to_Pick_your_Pick
Match your strings with the pick. Thick strings, thick pick. No matter what strings you use, do not use flimsy crap picks when playing faster songs. Those picks are for campfire songs.
been playing this song for about 4 years now and that outro riff still reduces my left hand to shit, do you feel the same and do you have any tips for doing it?
jacob v you ask what is wrong with the Nazis? They attacked my country, my grandfather shot and you ask me about this? You're a jerk in this case! (No offense)
Mi sueño de mocoso era tocar en una banda, pero nunca conocí amigos con el mismo sueño. Acá estoy 10 años después, con el mismo sueño y con el mismo problema.
Some kid in guitar class did this cover with an acoustic guitar and I have ton of respect for him.

@@erect4e369 final riff is a BITCH to play it's hard enough as it is and only gets harder with power chords.

I've been playing SIC on guitar for about 5 years now and still my hands are shattered by the end of that last riff.
I thought it was just me experiencing wrist pains from playing that riff, now I see that a lot of people feel it as well lol.
Yep that one is a fucker, I got short fingers too... guessing Mick and Jim don't lol
Just how your hands should be! ;)
ive been playing for 6 months and ive only done that riff for half as long as it is
i can do it but my hand starts to feel reeeally weird at the end lol

well what is the tuning?
guitars are tuned on dropp C , or dropp B
Led Zeppelin Fan, he was in the right tuning, he just didn’t calibrate his tuner properly as Slipknot tunes very slightly sharp in pitch.
So I'd guess drop c 432hz tuning ?
Neztlac drop b*
2:21 is so hurt this part.
Best Slipknot outro riff ever
Just came here to hear that part 2:00 and not disappointed!

it could be b sharp tuning a.k.a c flat
tho I don't think that's what it is on the album
cameron clark
it isn't, i also tried that...it sounds like something between B and B#
+Sicklehead88 hm Idk that's all I could think of :)

+Stardust_456 buy dunlop 12-54 or 12-60 pick 1,5 mm.

The Anarchist Thanks! I actually bought a pack of Dunlop heavy gell picks before reading this and I like them a lot
