Tool wise its very simple, a 4mm allen key, a long flat head screwdriver and an elastic band/hair band

Thanks for this, proved very useful when fitting mine today. I ended up using some long string for the drivers side to pull the latch, was a bit of a pig though. Got there in the end!

One year on and your video is still useful! Used the trusty hair bobble hack on the drivers door. Snapped at the very moment it engaged, at least I didn't have to dig it back out 👍

Can the LEDs be replaced without buying a whole new handle? If so what bulb is it? I've literally searched everywhere and all I find is that the whole handle needs to be replaced!

@@tweedbean I took the handle off either way to get a look at the connection and whoever changed the handles before I owned the car, seeing as I only owned it for a week, hadn't put the wire in fully so it didn't clip in, therefore resulting in it either flickering or not working working at all. Thanks again for you're help with this video made it a lot easier for me.

Great video. Hopefully I will be able to replace mine fairly easily. When removing the keyhole cover, do you just lightly pry it off from the back?

Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking about removing my handle bars to paint them black. Perhaps I'll strip the chrome on them if it's safe for handle material before painting them black. Do you think it's a good idea or should I just wrap them in black?

Mine are painted, I would hand them to a body shop to allow them to prep them correctly based on their experience.

Where did you get those grey handles that match the white silver so well?! I can't find them anywhere. Have the black ones ready to fit but these look even better - I have the same colour car as you.

I had the chrome ones painted by a local
Body shop.

It was hard to remove the chrome part to paint it? I want to do the same, color matched the doot handles but o don't know if the chrome part is removable from the handle

Hi thanks for watching, it’s not too bad, from memory there’s a screw and a clip on the back. The hard bit is the fact there is also glue under there which is tricky to split but it is possible. I used plastic trim tools to get between the chrome and handle from memory. It’s not the simplest of jobs but is worth it

cooper sd 2012 and i dont have the bung hole to get to the bolt anyone else have this problem? what do i do thankyou

Hi this video covers the 3rd gen Mini 2014 onwards. As yours is an earlier model the door handles are very different and cannot be removed using this method. Yours are much more tricky to remove. You have to remove yours by removing the door cards and a lot of faffing in a very tight space. I don’t have any videos covering that model just yet but I may in the future

Well I needed to know how they come off, but I hate it when people pull stuff apart that isn't broken. Sometimes you are better off leaving things that work alone. Somebody who has the skills of a monkey will try this and 1 scratch the door and 2 make it not work and 3 hate their car afterwards and buy an E-bike!

So many parts to that comment lol. I removed mine as I wanted them a different colour, people can use these instructions to do that but also replace if theirs doesnt work etc. And who wants an E-bike :)
