Seeing the Machine wars at the beginning was amazing I was always fascinated by that part of the Dune stories I hope we get rt to see more of it and more flashbacks to Butlerian Jihad

One of the great things about shows and movies on an IP like Dune is that all of the incredibly intelligent channels come out with reviews and perspectives. It’s great. So many different ideas I never would’ve known about it’s like having a full length inside look. This was a fantastic review of the episode but for about the 3rd or 4th time I hear that the scene at the club was not necessary, etc.. why??? I thought it was cool. A little cosmic sex to break up the monotony is always fun especially some good old fashion sex(with the exception of spice being involved)
Theory: Hart is a ghola. It makes sense the Tleilaxu would try to mess up the influence of both Richese from Ix and the "soothsayer sisters". Would explain is fire powers. However it still doesn't make sense (for the universe) that he could burn Kasha in another place in the galaxy. Unless it's a type of slow-acting poison...
A really great video. I haven't seen any of this but I love all the movie versions. During lockdown I got into audiobooks and the first Dune novel is the only Frank Herbert one I have listened to so far. I did listen to the Brian Herbert Atredies novel and wasn't impressed. I watched your Butlerian Jihad video and was enthralled by your storytelling. I went on to give the first Butlerian Jihad a chance and really liked it. I love lore and being able to get my teeth around the origins of something is really important.
Hail Niyat, God Emperor of UA-cam! 😅 Love ya buddy. I think I'm more high on this series (for now) than some other streamers who's opinions I'm generally in line with. Look forward to more thanks dude🤙
6:55 She didn't establish the school on Wallach IX. The school was initially on Rossak. This school was closed by Emperor Roderick Corrino. Afterwards, The Sisterhood secretly took refuge on the abandoned planet, Wallach IX, to reestablish themselves. This is in "Sisterhood of Dune".
The ghola Hayt was the first ghola that the Tleilaxu successfully unlocked genetic memories in when they were able to unlock the memories of Duncan Idaho in Dune Messiah.
Episode 1 of Warhammer 10K was pretty good - I enjoyed it. I liked when Ragnar showed up, but I don't really understand how he has such unfettered access to the Kingsman, Merlin.
Imagine how much valia would freak out if vorian comes back to troll her; she assumes he's dead, but it would be hilarious if he came because of the serum he got, he ages really slowly. Doubt it would happen but it would be great.
As a fan of the extended universe I'm all for this. If the people watching this are confused because they only read Frank Herbert's books. You got some research to do. Enjoy the ride!
I wonder if we will got another big budget Dune movie trilogy set after Paul Atreides and about his future children. To me it makes more sense to continue going with big movies or even shows set after Paul. But I’d also like to see a new big 200-250 million $ movie or trilogy showing the battles of humanity vs thinking machines.
We do know that several hundred years go by after Children of Dune and Puals son becomes the immortal god emperor who is a animorphic sandworm. The Empire is stable but under a harsh regime and DUNE itself has been terraformed to the extent that the great worms have become an endangered species. Think a rebellion happens. In all the books Duncan Idaho is a important character a ghoula that is one of the few that is able to constantly retain his originals host memories essentially being a perfect clone. This is very important in the last books. I think anyone would love to see a trilogy of the DUNE Sage set during the war between humanity and the thinking machines.
So there’s also the constant refrence to those mysterious glowing eyes and unintelligible voice. I personally think it could be Ominous. Also how the burning began seems like it’s meant to burn the victim inside out
She says Tyrant, Leto II was called the tyrant. The wide glowing blue eyes could be him as the worm. He took over the sisterhoods breeding program, giving immunity to domination by prescient rulers for humanity.
@@spencers4121 oh yes I have no doubt about Leto II being the one reference in conversation. However based on how gargled and almost metallic the voice sounds suggests otherwise. The Jihad just ended and they already have The Voice? I thought it would take generations of honing. And how did they travel after the machines were gone without the guild?
Regarding A.I. I believe we could for sure use it to help aid things on earth and definitely when it comes to space travel. I don’t like the idea of using AI in war and definitely don’t want to see it be used with humanoid machines to take over doing the jobs we don’t like doing. I feel it could definitely be used to help with government efficiency and discovering new Medication to heal or cure disease. And most importantly for space travel
Frank Herbert wrote next to nothing on AI or the butlerian jihad. What we do know was it wasn't so much AI, it was other people using AI to enslave humanity. It was Brian and Kevin, that wrote the fan fiction about the AI. Plenty of core Dune fans, would argue they never followed his fathers notes like they claim. As his son has never released the outline / notes for the last book.
@@spencers4121 seeing all the lies and powers struggle among the great House. I wonder if actually they just creating a lie that the AI try to enslave human but in reality they fear that AI will decentralize all government and render the ruling class obsolete.
The worms just produce the spice, the Fremen consider them God. The spice is what gives humans the ability to see the future, and past. More then likely the glowing blue eyes she sees on her death bed, and calls him tyrant,. Is the God Emperor Leto II Paul's son, who takes over the sisterhoods breeding program. And introduces the gene to stop prescience.
Great visuals but if he can kill ppl remotely from another planet couldn't he just burn all of the Sisterhood and be done with it lol like why let them live amd give them an opportunity to develop countermeasures? Guess it's just a plothole but it's pretty big and hard to overlook. Let's see if they can make this more sensible in episode 2

I mean these are suppose to be women who have access to their entire maternal line of genetic memory back to the beginning of humanity...not just some women who use religion and sex to game ppl
and then I remember this is brought to you by the same people who changed the ending of Dune II to erase the spacing guild, alia, the ending of the spice production via the fremen cisterns, and made a bene gessirt an emotional wreck I guess because she's a woman...even tho she would have been taught from birth to harness and control her emotions as BG to the point where she literally can choose the sex of her babies via her hormone release hence ..Paul..... Oh and they deleted Leto II..and made Chani into whatever that character was...strong female moron ? i dont know she's suppose to be his first disiciple like Mary to Jesus instead they have her pulling a full Thomas and being a cunt like Paul
I'm a fan of the Dune films, including Dune (1984), but the idea of a family vendetta, because of what someone said 10,000 years ago, is absurd. To put that into perspective, 10,000 years is equivalent to 500 generations, taking us back to the end of the last glacial period, when much of the northern hemisphere was covered in vast ice-sheets, and Pleistocene megafauna roamed the landscape. To put it into further context, the War of the Roses, fought between 1455 and 1487, devastated the two dynasties involved, yet within the lifetimes of those involved, peace and reconciliation was achieved. The idea that the House of Lancaster, and the House of York would still be fighting in 10,000 years time is truly ridiculous, and undermines what I've always been told is great storytelling by Frank Herbert. Individuals might be stupid, and bear a personal grudge, but their stupidity usually dies with them. Vendettas, or blood feuds might be a thing within primitive tribes, but the clue is in the word 'primitive'. The Great Houses of the Landsraad are not primitive tribes, but part of a highly sophisticated space faring civilisation. If anything, it shows that Frank Herbert fundamentally does not understand human nature, and our extraordinary capacity to forgive, compromise, and move on. Frank Herbert clearly didn't understand the meaning of love, in its broadest definition, and I now understand why he was unable to finish the story. He didn't know how to finish the story...
Finally, I find this comment. I must agree - generational strife and recalcitrant animosity can only go on so long: peaks beget troughs beget peaks, over the vastness of time. I try to allow for it, and find some way to suspend my disbelief so that I can buy into the vast narrative. (And I do see that Herbert's story expresses well how a given group or family is never quite all 'good' or 'bad' - but rather, unknowably complex and dynamic, as in George R.R. Martin's reflection of humanity.) But in no universe, no reality, no fathomed narrative of humanity, can ANY extreme remain for so, SO long. Pendulum arms do not suspend themselves indefinitely, high up on one side. The gravity of the situation eventually moves them the other way. And a multi-generational conflict eventually metamorphosizes into a different reality- as surely as it begins in the first place. By the way: I do suspect that EVERYONE who gets into the Dune story, whatsoever, is faced with their own reflexive internal skepticism, when they must first confront what they're being told in this story - that these two great houses have been so entrenched, for so long - it just doesn't make fundamental SENSE to a grown human reader, possessing decent intelligence, that this is a plausible plot point.
Good point tho if i was to find a reason for 10000yrs war would be since its between different planets probably different galaxies so having on big war amongst them would lead to a long time on no contact and misinformation plus its the future its easy to spread a narrative and have everyone believe in it
@@josephnarvaez9507 Many years, yes - THAT'S established. As is many generations - But not 10,000+ years. The casting and acting of the Sisterhood is god awful especially compared to how incredible the Bene Gesserit were in the movies.
