Yip there was a gap Giz put his car there Hill pulled down into him and took himself out he could have been second if he held his line and not turned down into shane.

Guys, you need to get your facts right.
1. At COTA, Hill bump n runs SVG and then when SVG gets back on him, Hill brake checks SVG causing the contact. There’s video of this. SVG then gets a track limits penalty and finishes the race 30th after having to defend the lead in two overtime restarts. I say Hill got off lightly at Sonoma.
2. The rugby ball was not inflated.
They don't care about facts. They just trying to protect their murican brothers as they see the New Zealanders are coming for them... Same as Indycar... 3 kiwi drivers getting podiums and another 3 in the build up junior series.
Muricans aren't even the best drivers over quarter mile any more and they all upset by it rather than try learn and get better
I’m sure there are videos of SVG taking people out, but let’s remember how many clean passes he’s made in comparison to anyone else in the supercars paddock. As a fan, overtake action is what we want to see and SVG is one of the best I’ve seen in my life time. I’m a little bit shocked that Denny thinks SVG should have been more patient in the move on Hill. I’m new to watching NASCAR, but if you don’t take that opportunity that Hill presented you shouldn’t deserve a to drive a NASCAR in my eyes.
What ive noticed from following nascar this year is that nascar drivers just arent as agressive and talented at hard racing and overtaking as supercars drivers are. And because people view nascar as being very agressive theyre struggling to comprehend the driving style of supercars drivers. That move on Austin hill is completely normal in supercars but all these nascar people are shitting their pants about it.

Russell had them all bluffed but he couldnt bluff SVG ..... and he didnt like it.
SVG is a hard racer but not a cheat.
If he sees half a gap and you are blocking, he will go for it and push you out the way if need be, and sometimes get tangled in a wreck.
The answer is simple. ...dont block, dont cheat .
Anyone can cheat like a Verstapen or a Schumaker or a Prost, even if they dont have a top drivers skills .
Up to the officials to penalise the blocking and stop the cheating.

Ya can't have a racing series with basically no rules about hitting other drivers and then complain when it happens. It's like not setting track limits and expecting them to stay on the track? Drivers are going to push the limits to win. If your not happy about it change the rules.

Looked like Austin Hill didn't leave enough room to me. He seemed to turn in on SVG, but also SVG did dive bomb him. I chalk it up to hard racing personally.
As a Kiwi and huge SVG fan for his entire career, I can say with certainty he has had a perception of being an overly aggressive driver, who sometimes punts people off. But if you look back at every race in the last 5 years that has definitely not been the case. I'd ask all the haters to show me an example of where he has done that in Supercars, since 2016, when he started at Redbull. Most of the egregious contacts have been against him, like when Anton spun him. But I do 100% agree with Denny's trepidation going forward. I would like Shane to dial it back a bit. He made a bad (incredibly rare in his career) mistake in Portland tagging Sam Meyer in turn 1. He has shown in supercars that he can race incredibly hard, fast and clean, and I hope that he does so in America. He's smart enough not to be this aggressive in Cup. I think he's taking liberties in Xfinity because ultimately he won't be here long.

He had the rep amongst fans of being too aggressive on overtakes, but would then win drivers driver at the awards Gala.. so I guess the other drivers loved the challenge.

If more than half the car is up the inside at the apex of the corner its fair game. If Austin had let him through and held the outside line he would have had a chance for the inside line at the next left up the hill, but he didnt think that far ahead

You only need to look back to the end of the Xfinity race at COTA to see exactly when and where SVG learned it’s perfectly fine to move another driver for the win. And guess who it was that taught him that lesson! I will say though, the drifting victory taunt behind Hill was as epic as it was awesome!😂😂👍

He tried the same thing at Sonoma on Saturday. Hill slams in the brakes and wrecks the entire field when he feels like someone looks at him funny. He needs to be banned before he hurts someone.

I know a lot of people complain about the cup car not being very good on road courses, but I guarantee you that if you have SVG, Cam Waters and Will Brown in those cars they can overtake on those road courses. It just takes a little bit of technique.

Austin was on the outside, and should of at least left enough room on the inside - that's the case in all other forms of road racing at least. SVG was on his inside, Hill squeezed it, SVG was having none of it, and the aerial shot showed that Hill had a ton of room on the outside and could well have made the corner had he not got greedy on the 97. Basically, Hill needs to learn how to drive a road course. It was what is commonly termed, a racing incident. It appears that the ball was semi flat.
Hill lost me when he wrecked Custer. That was a clown move and he tried to play victim. Hill moved Shane at COTA, Shane didn't even come close to overstepping.

Hitting your mark is the game.. just need to change your mark when a car is coming up the inside. Inboard clearly shows Austin cutting the corner instead of driving the outer line.

Hill was going backwards, it was only a matter of time before SVG went past, which had nearly happed a few times in the last few laps.
Hill should have known they both would be going for the same piece of track, and should have left a bit of racing room, but because he knew his car wouldn't have come out in front, he tried to muscle SVG.
When you fight for track position like that, you win some, you lose some, unfortunately for Hill he lost that one.
But he would have only lost one spot if he didn't try to win or die on that corner.
Austin Hill needs to watch some old SVG footage and learn some different race craft.

If you look up SVG in his Australian V8 super cars days, he's got lots of form for bump and run and not getting penalised he's really good at it.

Shane is a master at exploiting the rules here in Aus , look bk as some bumps his made for example, a move on Chaz mostart in new castle I think it was , no bump and run is aloud in Supercars , another rule is have to allow each other racing room so if a car has over lap on another car that car has to allow him space , so Shane got onto the right side of Chaz on a left turn , Chaz come across his nose unsettled his own car and Shane went down the inside it was one of the best and smartest moves I’ve seen In racing , and the are so many more like this , we are crying out for the rules to be relaxed if not caned her In Aus let the drivers sort it out on track it gets old when the umpires are handing out 20 5 second penalty’s every bloody race
remember austin hill turned down and tried to shut the giz out he left over a car width on the corner then turned down to try and block the giz so all bets are off if it was hill on the inside he would have punted the giz right off track with out beating a heart beat don't poke a sleeping bear cause he will give you a smack down to remember and i'm a ford guy
