@@pchris More coasting is less fuel burned. Less fuel burned means lower engine heating. Lower engine heating means you can get by with less air flowing through the radiator and still not blow up the engine. That's where the extra tape can be used. Too much tape will mean you burn up your engine.

I started in the mid 90s with Papyrus Indyacr Racing and then shortly after Papyrus NASCAR Racing using the first mass.produced wheel.and pedals, the Thrustmaster Formula T1 with no FFB and bungie cord tension. But that system was build solid and when I upgraded in 2000 to a Logitech Wingman Formula Force, it felt like cheap plastic versus the amount of steel components on the TH. I still own physical copies of all the NASCAR games from the first until 2004, which is about the time I stopped. Disappointingly I never used the online racing option at the time. It took until 3 years ago to get back into sim racing, and unfortunately, I do not get the amount of seat time I would prefer.
I really enjoyed this video and im not a huge Nascar fan. Well done Bob, you come across as a really nice guy and i bet if you've got kids you're an awesome Dad 👍🏼 The video and narrration was really smooth and i could easily listen to you all day.
I think of it like any other subscription. If I use it enough to justify the price then I think it’s totally fine to spend the money. The minute I stop using it though in a month’s span I’m axing it. I think the racing experience I get is worth it though. It’s really fun too.
I remember playing NASCAR 98 on PSone. It was fun because you could make your car, invincible or nearly invincible drive backwards around the track and crush all the other cars head on and it had impressive damage and particle effects for a PlayStation one game
could you elaborate on who the hidden boss is of smash bros i dont know anything about the scene but thats an interesting concept to explore in other games as well

I've been running a G27 for almost 10 years and still don't see any reason to upgrade. Modern wheels rarely come with three pedals and an H shifter, and IF they're available, they're expensive AF
I used to race Nascar with a keyboard and mouse and I even completed races with a joystick xD I never got into early sim racing as my dad wouldn't let me do league racing due to the age of everyone in those leagues, but I got my chance to learn racing in the mid 2000s when G-Force Karts had a IndyCar program where young drivers had the chance to slowly work their way up into open wheel racing. It was a fun experience, but I came in 2nd and only the winner could move on. It was cool being able to wear the same race suits and gear as the real drivers did.
I ran in a league for a few years with Donny Lia on iracing but never knew he was in that league. I started on Nascar 2003, but we didn't have internet where I grew up 😅
I had no idea sim racing not only has been around for so long but that actual nascar drivers have been involved with the community for most of that time as well.
I had something similar that ended in a epic fail i was proud of. GTA San Andreas 100 cab missions in a row at a friends house i ended the 100th on my roof crossing the line with a epic fail, the friend jinxed me and said slow down 5 second before i crossed the line. we were also drinking. he was pissed but me and his wife found it hilarious.
Played the old school Nascar games as a kid(my stepdad was into it heavy) glad to see its still around...although I couldn't play now I don't have the understanding of cars or racing games and honestly hate having to go in depth(If I had a team to setup the car and coach me idk rofl I do love driving) 😂

"I didn't have the speed, i never had the speed" - iRacing's Hidden Boss on why he retired
Hidden boss refers to his status in the community throughout the years, not to his status in the coke series. Besides, everyone in that series is a boss to even get there
@@DJYeeJay it's all good, wasn't meant in a negative way. Just thought it was funny to me
Great video as always! Small request, could you or anyone in the know do a deep dive on why Atlanta still to this day has never had functioning lights for night racing? It’s a very perplexing unsolved mystery that the devs never address.
Wherever you get all this B-Roll from is just as impressive as the story itself. Keep at it!
TLDR-
FINAL BOSS: fuel gauge.
I had no idea this was something to consider.
Shout out to Parker for Picking Bob up like that, no particular reason.
Some of the best iRacing content on youtube, great work!
I had a nice sim and played iRacing for many years, i sold my setup a few years back and left sim racing, your videos are giving me a serious itch to come back, i use to hold a A road license 😅
Beware the old man in a young man's game! An extremely intelligent driver and crew.
Dude I love these iracing lore stories you do so fucking much
I'm loving this series of showcasing legends and underdogs of the sim racing world, great videos like always!
This is Speed Network level quality content, thank you for making it
I race on console but this is exactly why I go from mid pack to dangerous in long races at the right tracks. RIP Auto Club
I used to be one of the best on PS3. Hung up my helmet back in 2017. This just inspired me. Look for me in the next few years boys.
I mean his first name is Bob. You already know he's gonna demolished everyone
It took until 3 years ago to get back into sim racing, and unfortunately, I do not get the amount of seat time I would prefer.
great job on the vid, i dont watch nascar but your thumbnail and title drew me in and the rest of the vid kept me in nice work
Love these videos bro, there are so many interesting stories that I would never hear about if it wasn’t for you
I really enjoyed this video and im not a huge Nascar fan.
Well done Bob, you come across as a really nice guy and i bet if you've got kids you're an awesome Dad 👍🏼
The video and narrration was really smooth and i could easily listen to you all day.
Bro that graphic showing the racetrack at the start was all I needed to subscribe, bro got better production then marvel movies
@@Uzuua- sorry to break it to you but I took that from the iracing broadcast 🤣🤣
wish i could afford iracing
Same. Doesn't stop me from playing it all the time.
There's always NR2003. It still has a thriving online community. It's not Iracing, but it's very fun & competitive
I think of it like any other subscription. If I use it enough to justify the price then I think it’s totally fine to spend the money. The minute I stop using it though in a month’s span I’m axing it. I think the racing experience I get is worth it though. It’s really fun too.
Use your wishes as motivation, brother
I suggest canceling your TV subscription(or streaming service like Netflix or whatever) to afford iRacing. Totally worth it. 👍
I remember playing NASCAR 98 on PSone. It was fun because you could make your car, invincible or nearly invincible drive backwards around the track and crush all the other cars head on and it had impressive damage and particle effects for a PlayStation one game
Hey at 7.28 that picture of that kid in the truck drivers seat is ME!!! That's crazy 😭💀🤣
Ferrari's F1 team really needs to hire bob so we dont have to hear "we are checking"
could you elaborate on who the hidden boss is of smash bros i dont know anything about the scene but thats an interesting concept to explore in other games as well
On nascar being last is best qualifying position bc you get to enjoy passing and working for it
you should do a video essay on parker retzlaff i did a b open race with him earlier and checked his stats afterwards he went from like 200 irating all the way up to 9k and now he races full time in xfinity lol
I used to run with Bob all the time on nr2003! Amazing days. DMP was where it was at
i love these documentaries you're doing! great stuff
I've been running a G27 for almost 10 years and still don't see any reason to upgrade. Modern wheels rarely come with three pedals and an H shifter, and IF they're available, they're expensive AF
I used to race Nascar with a keyboard and mouse and I even completed races with a joystick xD
I never got into early sim racing as my dad wouldn't let me do league racing due to the age of everyone in those leagues, but I got my chance to learn racing in the mid 2000s when G-Force Karts had a IndyCar program where young drivers had the chance to slowly work their way up into open wheel racing. It was a fun experience, but I came in 2nd and only the winner could move on. It was cool being able to wear the same race suits and gear as the real drivers did.
Been waiting for another vid like this. Awesome content!
Where can we find those historical DMP Pro Series standings? And am I reading correctly that drivers were winning millions of real dollars from this?
I ran in a league for a few years with Donny Lia on iracing but never knew he was in that league. I started on Nascar 2003, but we didn't have internet where I grew up 😅
I had no idea sim racing not only has been around for so long but that actual nascar drivers have been involved with the community for most of that time as well.
You are literaly a Wirtual of NASCAR universe! Love it.
Amazing strategy concept that paid off! What a skilled driver to hold that lead!
I had something similar that ended in a epic fail i was proud of. GTA San Andreas 100 cab missions in a row at a friends house i ended the 100th on my roof crossing the line with a epic fail, the friend jinxed me and said slow down 5 second before i crossed the line. we were also drinking. he was pissed but me and his wife found it hilarious.
keep making these they are truly amazing great work!!
Man, I pre-date his racing game career. Holy moly, I'm old. My first racing Sim was Nascar Racing 1999 edition
It doesn’t matter who is in front at the start. It only matters who is in front at the end.
This is an esports documentary! Cheers Bob!
NR2003 was a ton of fun. It was also full of physics holes and exploits.
Our former eSports driver :D We love Bob!!
Played the old school Nascar games as a kid(my stepdad was into it heavy) glad to see its still around...although I couldn't play now I don't have the understanding of cars or racing games and honestly hate having to go in depth(If I had a team to setup the car and coach me idk rofl I do love driving) 😂
Great story, really enjoyed it. Must see tv for me when these minidocs drop
Love the epic stories of sim racing man. Keep them up!
love this video format from you!
I've been video game racing since Atari's Pole Position...
In 1998 I was Nebraska state champ in NASCAR Sim racing.
I completed Gran Tourismo 3 and 4's career mode.
I was a top 20 modder and racer in Microsoft's Monster Truck Madness, and a beta tester for MTM2...
On top of that, I've been involved in some form or fashion with most real world motorsports, from sprint cars to drag cars...
I only wish I had the time and money for an IRacing rig.
Put me in one. Please
Are they earnings on that sheet actual or virtual?
please tell me whats the music that starts at 14:50
Love the content. How is drivesmart with dgm going?
ive been loving these videos
this was a very entertaining documentary, you get my sub good sir
Sounds like the "certain incident" that ended Kyle Larson esports needs to have a video made.
i love these stories, sim racing needs more of them
what a video dude, you killed it again 🔥🔥🔥
are there no such storys for road racing?
There are but it’s less accessible to me but I have a couple stories I’m trying to cover
Where do I join? Train ? Join ? I’d like to reach with people who don’t slam you into the wall fist turn lap one . Experience on games in arcades and elsewhere in PlayStation …..the tape strategy , wow I had no idea the game had such details …. That’s what’s so cool about gran tursimo , the minutia of details and Chang ability
beautiful bit of strategy, coupled with some serious skill in the last quarter
Me and my buddy Dave joined the league first season. We played Links, NASCAR and Ghost Recon.
Never even knew this exsisted! I always thought competitive e- racing was an in-person thing.
Great vid, great story! Loved it.
Could almost swear this is just the first half of the gran turismo movie... (Turned out to be a GREAT movie in actuality MUCH to my surprise.)
I'm not in on racing. Can someone explain what he means by "I'm not the guy on speed"? Is it a matter of his reaction speed and precision not being suitable for higher speeds?
"Why is there such an ominous aura coming out of that slow-ass car behind me??"
Thank you for this well made video and great story to highlight.
12:28 does anyone have context on this "incident"
The Kyle Larson incident? He dropped a slur / racist comment while sim racing over the open voice communication channel so everyone heard it.
Kyle Larson said the N-word
Ohhh one of my college buddies was a big dirt track guy and we'd run the old sim up in the dorm. Pretty sure it was Papyrus.
With the inconsistency of the team we can kiss goodbye a tittle this year... I hope yamamoto and muncy comeback... Helps the team! We need pitcher that can go 5+ inings and batters getting in base!
The next NASCAR game should have Bob Bryant as an unlockable
