As someone who uses their GPU for Gaming and Compute, AMDs drivers are hands down the best for ease of use when trying to get the best performance out of your card simply.... That is asking as it's a CGN Based Card, which really most people should be using. Can't wait for these to hit the used market in about 3 Years, they usually come out at a rock bottom price too.
*GCN They are not intended for gaming at all PCI-e is only x8 They are designed only to store and compute graphical info, but without focus on frames per second performance So their input/output(in PCI-e) is slow
Overall though as a gaming solution in a few years, they shoud be a more compelling option than they are now. Purely cause of how many companies will end up selling thee in bulk
R9 380 is just barely better or worse than a 1050, and consumes too much power for it too be compelling for its performance. A 970 is only $150 and offers near 1060 like performance
This is a single-slot half-height card though, thus suitable for some space-constrained build. The fan placement also allows the use of another shorter PCIe card, like a mPCIe adapter for wireless card, right next to it without blocking its airflow.
i was thinking the same for a workstation video card its great tho feel it would have been better if it was a 4gb model tho as i use a r9 290x 8gb in my workstation due to memory as im useing 3dmax , gimp , maya so they are very memory hungry programs
I wished the cards retailed for that much too. On the other hand, for 2D CAD at least even the RX550 is plenty decent already considering I got those off a warehouse sale.
+Ryff bullshit. The WX5100 is single slot as well and looks basically the same. And that's a RX480 8GB, so about as powerful as a 1060 6GB. The reason for dual-slot designs of consumer grade cards have to do with a different fan concept (top blower vs rear exhaust) and the fact, that you can fit more ports on it while maintaining space for exhaust. This card only has 1HDMI + 2 miniDP ports, while consumer cards often got 3 full size DP and maybe even a chunky old DVI port.

This a relieving video to watch because my friend bought a "RX 550" off of eBay and I think it's a Radeon WX3100 after I did extensive research on the numbers, and display output ports
I've spent the day trying my hardest to find a test exactly like this one for the WX5100 or the newest W5500 Radeon Pro cards, as I still intend to play overwatch and Skyrim on my workstation PC built for editing video. Your results with the much weaker WX2100 tell me exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so very much.
You can squeeze a bit more performance flashing it with a graphics card of the same chipset from the gaming line, but it will remove many features meant for workstations. Most likely disabling double precision, which renders more accurately at a cost to performance.
As someone who has just seen this on the used market for 250 DKK (about 30 £), I am so glad this video exists. My budget machine is currently running on HD 7770 xD
I got a hold of one for about 40 bucks, here in Denmark. While I have not been able to make it work with my old Lenovo m71e, it worked fine with my Athlon 200ge build. I had an HD7770 installed already and didn't bother to uninstall the drivers, prior to plugging in the WX2100, because when I tested the HD7770 on a different rig, that already had an RX590, the drivers only needed the computer to reboot once, after the first boot with the other GPU and it all worked fine. What amazed me was that not only did the computer see the wx2100, the drivers automatically switched over to the blue theme, even though I hadn't installed those. I haven't given it a testing yet, though I plan to over this weekend. My idea is to have two budget gaming desktops at home, one for me and one for my roommate. Build 1 is i5-2400 w/ HD7770 and 8 GB RAM, running on a 120GB SSD +1 TB HDD - though this is to be upgraded with a GTX660 very soon. Build 2 is Athlon 200ge w/ WX2100 and 8 GB RAM, running on a 240GB SSD +1 TB HDD
That's mean that the card has reached 100% in utilization and that make the cpu sending an amount of information that fits with gpu capability that's why you see cpu 30% or 40% utilization of the cpu and gpu 100% I hope this helps
Thanks to your video I ordered the WX2100 for $20 on ebay I just got a dell optiplex 5060 i5 8500 16gb on Amazon. I was impressed with the Intel 630 graphics but I wanted to play Crysis and your video convinced me to upgrade. I play mostly older games and thought the 630 igp might not hold up to titles like Far Cry and Crysis
As someone who has suffered corrupt game saves as well, I urge you to turn on file history. If only for the save files of any troublesome games like CCD has been for you. I mean realistically, this kind of performance is honestly impressive considering the fact that this card wasn't even remotely designed with this use in mind.
Workstation graphics card will generally perform identically to their consumer counterparts with similar specs. Take the original Titan X and the Quadro M6000 for example. Linus tech tips actually compared the gaming performence and found that they were pretty similar.
This "Radeon Pro" card in the U.S. sells right now on ebay for a minimum of $100 + $15 shipping. I would rather own the RX 550 w/ 2gb memory that you mentioned which you can buy new starting at $95usd. The GTX 750 Ti is very close to the RX 550 in the specs department and from AliExpress you can get a used Asus GTX 750 Ti with 2gb memory which includes free shipping for less than $60usd. Avoid buying the cheap Chinese ebay graphics cards because they are not what they are advertised to be. Unfortunately I found this out and my Chinese card barely runs less than a year later. Praise The Lord and Godspeed to you all - Psalm 27:1!!
Thanks. I built a SFF Ryzen 3600 workstation with a WX 3200 in the summer of 2020. Mini Vega Frontier Card
"Mini" would be rather a single-slot card. Thus this one is a Micro Vega Frontier Card ;).
TheUglydandy Wait, I thought micro was smaller than mini...
Yes. So WX 7100 or 5100 are Mini-s, this one - Micro.
