Took me More than 15 Hours to Do both types of Modding. Wanted to Show the people that you can either spend small and still get a great experience or Go All in!
Fantastic walkthrough of your process!! Nice job! Just got my C2 and think I'm feeling like after watching your video that the process will be worth my time, even with the extra switches to lube and film.
Glad to know this video helped you out! And yes, Modding such boards find and absolutely worth it. It feels like fixing something and gaming it even better than the manufacturer intended upon!
It is one of the best mod videos I have seen for keychron c1... Can you also mention in the description the links for the products (lube, switches) that you have used for the modding....
To fix the warp stabilizer issues, Bro you just have to nest it and use the nested clip. Or, you can export the footage and use the exported section to speed up or stabilize as you wish.
My keychron C1 sounds uneven. The middle columns sounded more deeper than the side columns. I did pe foam mod, boba U4T filmed and lubed, and tape mod.
I just put foam and switched out my Gateron Blues with Akko Cream blues and it already sounds better and feels better. at first when I had a issue with the [ and F1 keys when I hot-swapped my switches so I needed fix those by pulling the hot swap sockets back into place and I was like screw it Ill do a foam mod >:) and here we are with a thocky keyboard :3.
Thanks for making this video. I recently purchased my first mechanical keyboard, the C1 model having a white backlight. I presume your choice of keycaps did not permit shine-through. I'd appreciate your comment on how it looks with the backlight. Very elegant look of those Ducky keycaps in blue. Did you keep this build?
I haven't faced any issues so far as I have been using OEM Profile keycaps. Some cherry profile Keycaps these days like the ones from akko don't cause interference even with the north facing switch orientation
No idea whats causing that sort of hollow ping on the spacebar, I can see hear even at the final version yours have it too. It's driving me nuts that my CIY tester68 spacebar sounds fuller than this
It's quite a old video man and I think I was still quite novice back then in editing videos. But yeah , the besf solution for this think is to just add spacebar foam!
@@SamBoga did that, even tried a nuphy ghost bar. Not sure if its from your editing tbh i think its just a natural case resonance. I find when I make the case fit tighter near the spacebar it goes away, probably just from the build we have tbh
does C1 has interference if using cherry profile keycaps? can you confirm this issue? how the stock stabs are they good? is it worth it if i replace it with durock plate mount stabs? how many switch do i need for C1? i also planning to change the switch
Depends upon switches and keycaps. Cherry Keycaps like the ones from akko doesn't have this sort of issues even at North facing orientation. Stock stabs are meh . For better experience, I would say replacing should be the way to go. You will need 87 switches to cover a TKL like this.
@@SamBoga i planning use boba u4t for the switchs and leopold keycaps (i believe its cherry profile) , now im not sure it will have the interference issue or not on C1
Well the thockiness depends upon not only switches but also on board material, dampening used, plate material etc. Since C1 has a stainless steel frame , reproducing thoccky sound would be near impossible.
Well, It's a pretty tough call on my part since I am yet to try them out extensively. Judging for the discussions and other coverages, I have seen that the rose pink is a pretty good smooth Switch. But so far I have understood, the Gateron Milky yellows with black bottom and milky top is the best sounding and feeling one.
Well They board is really nice for starters. Main Gripe is the Stock Switches. These days, at this price u can get some nice pre builts that are better than this in stock form
Well , what I meant is that if you can actually spend a tad more for what you would spend for Budget modding of C1, you can get the kt87 with better Keycaps , dampening and working software.
Comparing the stock C1 to the ducky one 2, which one is better pre-modded? And, how about after modding? After modding, the C1 seems to be in the same price range as the ducky.
Did you have any issues putting the stabilizers into the board? I have a C1 and it seems like the Durock stabilizers are just a little bit too big to fit in the holes in the plates.
they are easy to do, just folloe the guide to dissassemble and add foam, you will need to lube the stabs like he did but you can also ghetto lube the switches to save time and ease
Sam, great video! Just placed an order for a C1 and am excited to mod :) Just clarifying, by my math it sounds like you were able to fit 8mm worth of foam under the PCB in the initial mod? a 4mm foam from packaging and then 2x 2mm EVA sheets? I have what looks like a good deal for an 8mm sheet of EVA but wouldn't want to get a thicker piece than i actually have space for. Let me know if you have a chance!
8mm Eva only probably won't be possible as it wouldn't compress. I would also suggest combine Eva foam with neoprene as well. It seems like Eva foam works great with combos.
@@SamBoga ah, that makes a lot of sense, thank you! So if I use the packing foam from the case I should pair it with no more than 4mm of EVA, basically? Should the packing foam go above the EVA so the more compressive foam is close to/against the PCB?
Hey! Do you think it is possible to put a POM plate on this keyboard? Seeing as you have already removed the actual stock plate off, do you think it would be possible?
Great video! Do you think the stock stabs are good enough or would you recommend to get a different stabs instead? Im thinking of replacing the stock stabs with JWK Panda stabs but I'm not sure if it's worth doing. p/s:does non-backlit keycaps block out the lights entirely? sorry for asking so many questions
I would recommend going for aftermarket stabs. I think the stock stabs aren't that Great. And yes non backlit keycaps will give sort of an underglow effect beneath the Keycaps. And thank you for the support

I want to change the switches to holy pandas, but how do I know how many pins the switch needs so I can put in it
