    THERE IS A 9th SCREW HE DIDN'T MENTION
    After talking the plate off the top case off there is screw in between the backspace and insert key. I almost broke my board trying to take the plate out with that screw in so I hope this helps someone. Other than that this was a great vid and helped a lot, thanks man.

    Great tutorial! I just did the same mods on my Keychron C2 (full-size version of C1, MX Cherry Browns) and it worked out great - much quieter and deeper thock-y sound.
    My only additional advise to those doing the "ghetto lubing" is that it takes about a day of typing for the lube to fully coat the switch, so wait at least a day before adding more lube if you think you put too little.

      did you add the MX browns yourself? If not, they're gaterons, just so you know.

    Thanks I just foamed my c1 with the help of your video. For others that are going to do the foam mod. BE CAREFUL with the plastic surrounding. I broke some plastic hooks when I forced it out haha it still works fine but just be careful. Also when you put the pcb back make sure the switch(windows/mac) is aligned so the switch actually work.

      ive seen that too yeah but its quite a hassle because it goes everywhere which also means in between every crack which can make it leak to the outside, i think the way you did it with the foam from the box is a perfect balance between effort:results, ofc it can be done more precise and more foam might fit for better isolation but i thats a bit overkill for this keyboard imo

    Ghetto lubing seems like the way to go lol. Does it help with the sound too? Or is that just the foam

    • @Dakun
      @Dakun  3 роки тому +2

      I'd say the lubing does a lot more for the sound than the foam. lubing helps make the sound less clicky, foam just removes a tiny bit of hollowness from the board, but idk if I could tell the difference with just foam

    • @zehousewife
      @zehousewife 3 роки тому

      @@Dakun Foam doesn't just remove the hollowness, it makes the keyboard quieter and a bit thockier. For me the ghetto lubing just doesn't come up to the standards of traditional lubing since you can lube evener with the brush. The gateron browns don't help in that regards that much either, as they are notorious for being SCRATCHY. The sound test of yours hilights it perfectly, it makes them "quieter" and less annoying (in a sense).
      Hope my opinion isn't the annoying one here O vO)b
      Good Luck on your path of custom keyboards.

    FYI the stock Keychron Brown switches are most likely made by Huano. They have very high tolerances, and as such they have a great deal of stem and housing wobble. While the Gaterons aren't as bad in this regard, switch films are also very helpful in this regard should you stick with the stock switches.

    • @SaulMaddox
      @SaulMaddox 3 роки тому +1

      Hello, lubing the sides of the switches will help, and as long as you dont get the lube on the legs, it it will keep the tactile feel. The way the switches are lubed in the video may or may not get lube on the legs because it might run down the switch in that direction. If you are able to get a keycap switch opener, that is the safest way to ensure you are lubing properly. If you do lube the legs, it will remove a little of the tactile feel but I personally like how it feels I have some browns that are fully lubed and I really enjoy those switches. Best of luck and in the end, you can always experiment with a key you never use ;)

    So apparently the method of lubing switches used in this video might potentially stop the keys from working if the lube gets on the leaf contacts and prevents the flow of electricity between the two parts of the contact.

    • @Dakun
      @Dakun  3 роки тому +1

      I just used the foam that came in the box, it wasnt too dense so hopefully it wouldnt stop the pcb board going in either way
