This seems wrong to say because I don’t know you but I feel so proud of you both. You looked a million dollars Han and Affie was an absolute angel, you remembered 2 tests (something i couldn’t do)! Both were soooo lovely, 2 correct canter leads and very obedient! So chuffed for you both and love seeing you out enjoying your pony! ❤️
Hi Han I thought I would pop over from Meg Elphicks channel to see what you do as you seem to be so helpful to her. Can i say that I am so glad I did pop over as its been a joy to watch you and I have to say you seem a different person to the one I see on Megs videos. You're so humble and kind, and quieter lol - it was joyful watching your happiness at the dressage test results and placings and its clear you have a heart of gold. Its nice to see you being helped too, lovely ladies and I look forward to seeing you enjoy your summer months competing hopefully ...
Hello Hannah from Australia ! I love watching your Affie ! She is so lovely, and you have done so well in a short time ! Good on Ariat for some lovely products - I love Ariat products also. Good on you for all you do for others - that's quite a juggling act. Keep on going - you're fantastic !
Good job Han and Affie! I am so glad things are coming together for you two! Definitely jeep up with the lessons with Rich, I think he is helping you guys a lot.
She looks STUNNING Han!!! Watching your journey with her since I saw megs video on free jumping her and she has come along way! Even with all the issues it’s so inspiring how you just keep pushing through it no matter what your love for affie is so clear and it really shines so proud of you both 🎉
Huge congratulations. I was told to get rid of my mare, but like you i carried on and we ended up winning championship. Love , kindness and patience go along way xx
i also got told to get rid of my gelding as he was just "a starter pony" and he wouldnt get anywhere. yesterday i won a championship and was told hes a "winning pony" 😅
Han YOU look SO amassing in that OUT fit ,AND SO good to see you and affie at a show . 👍👍💖 that WAS amassing for the first-time OUT, AND thank you for sharing your journey. From sue in coventry. 😊😊😊💖💖👍👍 and a thank you to the friends with you .
Ah Han bless your friends they were so sweet & supportive spotting your internalised nerves & tension in the second warm up. Well done!! An amazing comeback feeling after all you’ve been through with Affie 😊
CONGRATS! To start with, you looked FABULOUS in your Ariat kit! And it never hurts to look fabulous if you can. 🙂 Aff was a very good girl! She just looks green, which she is, but fairly relaxed and moving rhythmically, which is what you want at this stage. Lots more of this so she continues to feel relaxed in new places is the key! Two thoughts: (1) Have you had the bit guy out? There's that guy Lucy used. I am wondering if a similar bit would help Aff's contact issues--a Myler comfort snaffle. It is a very stable bit that a lot of horses really appreciate, with little movement and easy on the palate. (2) I am wondering if you are cantering enough. She reminds me a lot of my OTTB, Peregrine, for whom canter was his best gait and his happy place. Like him, she has a good canter and seems to relax more there than in trot. I warmed up in the canter almost exclusively, really--once Per had cantered for a while, THEN he was able to relax in the trot and walk, and get to work. I think you get nervous in canter and don't do it enough, so it's all "whoo hoo" for her, whereas if you did it more, you could both relax into it. And you tend to tip forwards in the canter as well, which throws her on her forehand (why she is falling into the trot). Anyway, that's what I'm seeing! Overall a really good day, it seems to me! And it's SO GREAT to see you guys out doing this stuff! So proud of you both!
I’d had a bitting and bridle expert out before this video but unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time. I agree that the bridle and bitting situation wasn’t working. Thankfully she seems to be going better in the new set up. I think you’re right!!! If she’s going to have a little silly moment she’ll usually do it in the canter so I think I put off cantering her. Will definitely make a conscious effort to canter her a lot more next time. I didn’t even canter before her intro 🥴. If I canter her and she’s not then worn out. She’s constantly go into canter in the trot which is why I don’t canter before the intro test. But actually I should be cantering but cantering more, getting her more settled x
@@Nohorsehan I really think that if she canters more, it will make the trot better and help her settle down. Right now it's a big thrill LOL--doing it more will make it less of one. 🙂
@@magicaltrailsYes but it really depends! I have a pony who I ride who isnt green but has been off work, and behaves quite like Affie. But she will be doing good and after canter suddenly get even more strong and just wanna go go go! I also have a young ottb who I cant speak for as shes still learning and I havent cantered her a whole lot but its either all or nothing for her at the moment. Almost one year with her :)
Your baby has grown up Hannah. You both looked fabulous and both did fabulous for your first competition back. More success to come. affie no baby no more. ❤
Yall did great! More riding and more competitions will give you both more confidence. Wonderful work for both. I love to hear it is worth it. The horses are always worth it.
Great video Han. Keep up the lessons and practice. You did it! Affie was good, and nothing bad happened. You can do it Han! I think you need a bit change. I don't think the loose ring snaffle works for her. You're doing great Han.
Thank you! Should have mentioned in the video that I had actually had a bridle and bitting expert out before this but it didn’t arrive in time. We’re now in a totally new set up x
Blimey, thought you'd hired Charlotte duJardin to ride Affie!! Well done, it's amazing to see you out and competing after all the issues with her last year 💖💖
You both have come along so well, so happy for you❤. AND I must say your friends are the sweetest with supporting you/encouraging you. Such sweet girls 😊
Well done great results Aff was so committed to doing her best for you - judges don’t need to comment with scores of 7 or above - your contact issues will improve as you have more lessons an eggbut snaffle is more stable and might help and try to hold the rein tighter to keep your hands from drifting it takes practice but you have only just started a very exciting journey well done
Eggbutts and bauchers are both good for this! Depending on what your horse likes and what shows youre doing you can use either, my mare likes bauchers, i think because of the fact they reduce poll pressure when engaged! x
Well done. After all the health issues you must be very chuffed with her now.......she looks great and ready to do her job. I noticed all the marks and comments were very consistent. Now you know what to work on. The halts were very good, just don't be so quick to salute. Make sure she is stopped and relaxed. As for the collecting ring, there was a lot of space. You should be concentrating on Affie and her warm up. That second time was not as good as you were so caught up with seeing where the other riders were. You both looked very smart. Well done.
Congratulations you and Affie did fab!!! Rich would be so proud! Would Y food help you stay energized and hydrated during travels when you don’t have time to eat?
Judges must give comments if the score is 6.5 or below that's why there are often no comments for 7's and above although ideally should still offer comments. A 7 is still only considered "fairly good" and deducts -30% of points off the maximum available for the move after all! It's so hard to get all the comments written in so often if the writer needs to catch up the judge may leave a 7 as just a score too to help them catch up and capture everything required x once the contact is more consistent she will get much more consistent 7's I'm sure
Now don’t turn into a “Negative Nancy” after every round you do. Will admit, seeing & hearing you “act & talk” like another rider vs being your upbeat, positive, calm, have fun mindset & personality. This attitude change(s) is a turnoff to viewers who’ve seen you on others YT vids. You know you enjoy riding & you are paying for the pleasure of riding & owning your own horse. No one is paying you to hack out, nor to compete. So have fun! Enjoy competing or don’t compete IF Ur going to fret over every word a judge says. Like w/your clicking.. if all a judge can do is point that out, then ya did fine. LAUGH!Comments about Affie needing to bend, be more subtle to elascity to other remarks.. which are a Judge’s way of letting you know where you & your horse appear weak, thus you should work on. However, U know WHY You & Affie aren’t 100% yet or even close eh!😂😉 BUT..😡OMG Hannah.. Affie could of been DEAD vs competing in her 1st DRESSAGE test in almost a year!!!! 🥲 Oops gotta go Stay yourself & you WILL succeed as you desire and work for.
Can we stop blaming a horses excitement in new places on being an Arabian you know the breed well known for going 100 miles in a new place without issue

A triumph! Such a good, sweet girl. Keep those thoughts positive, habit is obviously everything. 👍👍
They were lovely plaits! Well done :D
Smashed it! Huge well done, you both look beautiful, you in your new get up and Affs all plaited ❤

Thank you! Yes I do actually always notice I salute very quickly. I think I’m so keen to get it over and done with I don’t actually think 😂
The Ariat coat looks great. I suddenly want one.
Isn’t it lush!!! I’m trying very hard to keep it as ‘smart’ rather than everyday x

This is such a lovely vid, you both looked so good and she definitely looked very happy to be out and about ♥️

She wasn’t excited? She was extremely well behaved. I’m not even sure we mentioned her being an Arab in this vlog?
She NEVER blames Affie for ANYTHING.
