Got to say that is the first Peugeot in over 25 years I have wanted to own. Not since I was 17 when I lusted after a 205 GTI have I ever wanted to own one.
Oh god yes I'm German, I have a trusty German car, but with the cutie I would cheat permanently. So far I've only been interested in French planes, but they're even more expensive. ^^
Dear Peugeot, please do a two door coupe with the roof line of the E-Legend concept car. With the 504 coupe and 406 coupe you made some of the most beautiful cars ever. Please do it again.
Could've done with the 260 bhp setup from the 308 GTi for about 420 bhp in combined output, and then it may actually hit that 5.2s 0-62 time (I've not seen a single video where it's managed it, yet). Also, I know it's expensive, but hearing consumers (and some reviewers) complain about it being "too expensive for a Peugeot" sounds like they'd happily pay that money if the badge was the only thing that was changed.
because people don't trust the brand, from previews issues, cheap electronics, cheap quality! yes this car looks great but will it give any serious trouble in 3-5 years, will it be reliable.. there are few questions marks about it. and instead of building trust and increase the asking price slowly Peugeot wants consumers to pay high price straight away 60-75K€ is a lot of money for a unproved car.
Stunning to look at, probably great to drive, just a bit too expensive for a Peugeot. Even if they don’t reduce the price, probably adding more equipment, such as a high-end audio system, would make it more appealing
Worth looking into the GT line of the base car. Same interior near enough and upgraded sound system. Only 225bhp but will go further on the battery. Plus it's only about 36k

If you think 56k is too much... just remember a VW Golf GTE with far less power, slower, options and spec is £45k. Let that sink in, you get a smaller car, no massaging seats, no premium audio, no physical buttons... I could go on. £45K. I'd rather pay the extra and go for this and actually feel like I am driving a premium car. A BMW 330e starts from £45k for the poverty spec that is still, somehow slower than the 508. I reckon this is competitively priced.
It looks great from outside (especially the saloon), but inside it's depressingly gray (208 is the same). But which is the view that the driver sees...
Silly price for what it is. They don’t have the history, service or reliability to compete against other main competitors cars in the class for very similar money. Depreciation no doubt will be huge on it to making it even worse.
It's the best looking sedan on the market with one of the best interiors. And a lot more reliable than german cars. Peugeot do great in reliability surveys and have won many reliability awards.do your research before you say something you embarrass your self
In many manufacturer's ranges these days to only way to get decent performance if you want to avoid the black pump, is to go for the PHEV version (e.g. Volvo, the Peugeot 3008, Mercedes C/E without going full AMG etc.). So no, putting performance and economy together is hardly new or unusual.
Copied the off road design package from the Cross Turismo Taycan! What happens when the battery runs out, you then have a 1.6 ltd engine having to pull everything plus batteries on its own - that's where hybrids fall down I feel
Agreed if you took the two electric motors and the 1.6 engine that's in the 508 and put I the 308 it would be a winner. With the 508 you could have the 1.6 as an entry version and with PSA now part of Stellaris which so owns Vauxhall bolt their electric motors to the 2.0 litre on the Insignia onto the 508 PSE it could shake things up.
The sedan form matches this powerplant better. I don’t understand the obsession with extreme fast estates in the UK and Europe in general, seriously. Like the RS4, RS6, Arteon R, and this…the Arteon and this has sedan forms, but almost every review promote the estate form. Why?
i assume there would be a drop in power, if you didn't charge it regularly. and i bet its quite heavy. my RCZ R is only 30hp down on this, but i bet it feels alot quicker
Loved the review, but come back and review it in five years and see what its like and talk to the owner who's a shaking wreck after being rinsed to get all the fault codes read every other month.
@@entlim a friend of mine has got a 2012 Peugeot 5008. Full of all the latest technology at that time. It’s done 90,000 miles and it’s basically scrap. Full of error codes and egr faults sending it into lump mode. We told him to buy a Toyota and he got seduced by the heads up display (not working). The big infotainment screen (not working). The individual climate control (you guessed it). They basically look good in the showroom and that’s it. This one though at £60,000 is on another level depreciation wise. £3500 after 6 years???? Must come back to this in 2027 and rewatch it. Put your guesses in below as to it’s value in 2027.
The USA is still the aint no replacement for displacement mind set. Some Americans do like small efficient vehicles, but when everyone else is ploughing around in an F250 or Chevy Silverado you may feel too small on the road. Cheap US gas prices also mean expensove smallncapaciry hybrids are pointless.
Nice one Nicola an err... intriguing review. At least Peugeot can't be taken to the trading standards over the size of the glove box as it does look like you can at a push fit a single glove in it so I guess that 's OK for golfers then. The design looks good even in wagon form but unfortunately I don't think they provided the best colour for this car being the sporty shouty version that, well, blends into the road (I winder if they term the colour "Parisian patio slab". The innards look good (apart from the fact I don't play golf so can't use the glove box), nice switch play with the piano keys (with functions on top so harder to see by the driver) and decent load carrying. I think you summed it up rather well with the 'big juicy but' given the price and other options available from other brands it may well be that fabled unicorn. Oh! did you remember the milk?

Whilst a great looking car realistically this will only be “bought” by company car drivers for the tax benefits vs diesel. If you are a private buyer the number of people willing to pay £56k for one is very, very small.
Outstanding looks but a 1.6ltr Peugeot for £55k with limited rear passenger space! 2022 is the release of Kia's EV9 SUV. Same money, more space, better resale values! So it's a no from me....

Plus in 5 years time... It will be worthless as everything will start to be banned. Full EV is the only future-proof way to go. And I'm not really a fan of that, but "Jo Public" has no say when Government has enforced its will.
Why even bother having the electric motors?? With a range of 26 miles, they’re useless. Just make it all out petrol or diesel, not a tiny petrol engine and electric motors that do nothing.

@@pap_chr5063 The reviewers final comment is the same as my opinion, “it’s just too expensive!” I’m sure it’s a great car but Peugeot’s do not and never have held their resale value. Therefore if you PCP one, your monthly payment will be astronomical and there will be no equity at the end. If you buy one outright you will lose almost all your money over three or four years. That’s not badge snobbery, that’s economics! I recently came out of a three year PCP agreement from BMW with £10k equity. That I’m afraid would never happen with this car. Putting all that aside, I respect your opinion but mine is different. I don’t think it’s the best car in this segment at all when you consider everything and not just the way it looks. BTW I don’t drive in this segment, I just have an interest in cars 👍🏻

A bmw g20 has worse resale value than the peugeot 508.And it is the best ij the segment. It has the best interior, it's so premium, and technology is superior than the rivals. Take a look at the audi a4s interior, is so boring ans miles behind than the 508, the quality isn't great either. Here in my country it starts from 74.000€,that's a lot for 360hp 60k isn't. Dont forget that peugeots only makes it premium cars these years and we can't see it from fhe sales and awards

The small low steering wheels in Peugeots are a highlight design feature of the brand, I love them. I had a 208 gti and now gave a 308 gti fwiw.
