@@MarekDrivesENG I want to have more balanced opinion and watch videos by other reviewers when it comes to qualities of this car. Im not intetested in just praising one brand and bashing others. Not a glue who you are but boy are you a moaner!! I have the same 508 and I just didn’t recognise your description of it, as it’s a lovely car and very easy to drive, with a very smooth automatic gearbox and good brakes. I’ve never suffered with under steer but then again I’m not driving like an idiot. I’m 180cm and have no trouble with the seat height and find the controls easy to use. Not sure why you bothered test driving the 508 or having done so not injected what seemed like your personal prejudices.
Same here , I am 191 cm tall and have no issues with the seating position and somehow he's 176 cm tall and struggling. You clearly sense that he likes the style of the car but is just looking for reasons to moan about everything else ....
The 508 is such a pretty car. I took a bog standard 508 SW 1.6 turbo petrol for a test drive a couple of years back. It looked great inside and out, but with the steering wheel as high as it will go I couldn't see the gauges due to their silly attempt to reinvent the dashboard. And yes, I move the steering wheel as high as it will go in almost every car because my legs need all the space they can get. When I got out of the car I realized how low it was. Too low. It made me want a crane of some sort. I think Peugeot realized people looking for practicality will buy a 3008 or 5008 anyway, so they took the opportunity to make the 508 into a sporty and low low-slung work of art.
I used to own 2 x 405s 1.6 GR 93K&1.9TD GLX 95N and 2 x 406s 2.1TDs & 2.0 HDi 54. All car's were driver's car's with great Ride&handling but Left Peugeot after 407.
Hi Marek - once again a very nice review-video. As I have mentioned some time ago in another video's comment: Nobody buys a Peugeot because he (or she) thinks it to be the best value for money nor the most sportiest, the safest or most reliable car you can get. You buy a Peugeot because you you like the style and *want* it. So the 508 PSE will find it's buyers. Personally I think, Peugeot has built nicer cars before. But as I need cars with recognizable more head- and kneeroom, I am out of market.
Shed 20k and it gets interesting. Good to have alternatives to the usual suspects, but please give a goos reason to extend the suspect. It is also time for a larger battery, to keep up with competition. Lovely review Marek 👏
MAREK please tell me if i should buy a PSE cause i found one for 47000 euros and 14000 kilometrs right from the peugeot representative firm (it was mainly used for advertisement in car reviews ). should i get one ? i drive and aydi q3 sportback 1,5 tfsi
Was it a press car or a dealer demo? Either way, this is a car that was likely abused, so I'd be careful. Unless there's some warranty left on it. And they do a thorough service free, before they sell it to you.
@@MarekDrivesENG it was both , they told me that the firm owner drove it and i saw the car in various reviews in Greece( plate numbers match ) .it has 3 years warranty left and 6 years for the battery.
I have an idea for your channel: Reviewing cars not officially sold in Poland. I have seen some cars imported from America to Poland like the Nissan Sentra, Acura MDX and the Ford Bronco Sport.
I happened to learn this on a prius. Do not brake immediately using the pedal! You let the recuperation kick in, and only then you start breaking. This way you are not experiencing the sudden breaking on a hybrid. But also peugeot is not known for their hybrids, let‘s be honest. This thing will sell purely because of the way it looks.
OK, this is NOT a Prius :) It's theoretically a sport(ish) car, and therefore it should drive like one. If I need to slow down before a sharp corner, I'm not going to worry about recuperation. I need to slam the brakes. That being said, I'm currently driving the EV6, where the recuperation/ABS/suspension cannot cope with slight bumps. An imperfection in the road next to a crossing can send a car into emergency braking, when one wheel loses traction for a split second.
Marek Drives I remember that there was some pushback when I said cars now remind me of the 80s with bits of trim falling off. Add questionable driving dynamics to the list. Then, these are all first generation systems for each manufacturer, and hopefully things will improve in the second gen.
3:15 I’m 184cm and like a low seating position, but at the lowest position the seat was too low for me ! That’s because taller drivers will seat further back and the seat go down as it goers back in most cars.
Peugeot in my country retired the entire new 508 lineup after a year of dismal sales, understandably so, given the high price this model commands, specially when compared to Peugeot SUVs, that offer more space and sometimes, even better fuel economy. The 508 simply doesn't have an sporty feel or any differentiating feature that can compete against SUVs, or other sedans that shines for their sporty handling, like the Mazda 6.
The standard 508 has the best handling in its class, in fact one class higher than the competition, look for stability and moose test of this car. Its handling is almost supercar level while the Arteon is at the bottom of the pile. In fact the PSE has been praised for its almost perfect handling despite being a hybrid, this is in contrast with the Passat GTE which failed miserably. You need to check your sources of information.
this is what the Irish examiner observed on the Pse "In fact, its on-road characteristics are all the more impressive because this is a near 2,000 kg beast and yet the stuff you expect from such a heavy family car - persistent understeer, lack of traction and an inability to cope with an unexpectedly tightening apex - are non-existent. The engineers earned their crust with this one."
Wonder why i choose the PSE version over the ordinary one Several times you mentioned the ordinary version is better.... The car i like it so much But the price is always the enemy of the cars
In that price range you can get a top specification, comfortable and sorted Kia Sorento hybrid. Not so powerful and fast but who wants either of these cars for track racing. Nobody.
@@carbonara2144 I'm not sure what you're talking about, but if it's reliability, Peugeot has been replacing entire engines on 3008s here in Singapore due to timing belt breakage, while my friends' Octavias and Kodiaqs have all been running flawlessly. French cars will be French cars.
@@cubular3000 Did those peugeots have those "prince" engines that were made in co-operation with BMW? Its similar tech with Minis engine, which are known to be poor. Only marketing bribes keep VW cars selling.
@@carbonara2144 No. They're 1.2 PureTech, and that's a very new engine. TSI and DSG are no longer what they were a decade ago - the clutch and mechatronic issues have been ironed out. Meh, it's a press car- they're bound to get thrashed at some stage. And cars really don't need to be run in these days, an early oil change is probably sensible to dispose of any metallic residue but aside from that you just drive them as per normal. That is, only give it the beans once the engine is at an ideal operating temp.
@Commentator541 This was my second or third Stellantis press car that I had problems with. So they were nice enough to give me a brand new one, so I had no choice.
