Well done Tish a lovely review and what a striking car Peugeot are certainly at the cutting edge these days it’s one of the best looking cars out there Peugeot have always made good and capable family saloons and estates which can munch the miles well in comfort My wife has recently upgraded to a new 208 and the i cockpit is a great idea and love the small steering wheel it doesn’t take long to get a driving position which works and it’s quite sporty isn’t it I can’t understand the bad press it gets anyway look forward to the next one keep up all your hard work Daniel
Another great video. I have never seen this beautiful car on the road. It sounds quite quiet but I agree the cabin looks quite dark like most Audi’s which I really don’t like but in saying that I do like the shape of the dashboard and of course the small steering wheel.
If I’m honest, I prefer the styling of the facelifted 508 over the pre-facelift. The front of the regular facelifted 508 reminds me a bit of the Haval H6 HEV.
Enjoyed the video. Performance Peugeots are always fun, years ago had an Mi16, great apart from the electrics. Seems as if the 508 PSE dips on the fun when you've used the rear engine up, think 23 miles range is inadequate and the lack of poke when the rear engine is spent detracts from its appeal.
Still great - and if it's true that the slow UI is fixed then that may be just what the car needed. The actual face lift doesn't do anything for me, but never mind still looks good.
12:10 Quick note from a heavy user of PSA/Peugeot hybrid systems! Although you would think running out of battery would mean having no more electric power, it's actually not the case ! If you want to overtake or put pedal to the metal at a motorway toll, you can and the engine will provide power to the electrical motors so that you still have sort of 360bhp ! Of course if you send it around a track though, this technique will quickly find its limitations ! You have a good example of this on "L'argus" video of this car around the Nurburgring. Other than that, this is a very nice video ! Keep up the good work !
Clearly physics isn't your strong point. If the battery is dead the only power is coming from the 1.6 and its max power is fixed whether it goes through a gearbox or via a generator to power the motors so you won't "sort of" get 360bhp, you'll get 200. Whether the hybrid system keeps a small amount of charge in the battery for overtakes even when it claims to be empty is another matter.
@@neilrobertson811 well, I guess the tests everyone made of it (including mine) and Peugeot claims were magic ✨✨ Like many other PHEVs, PSA system is very “clever”. If you need power, even with an empty battery, you will have it, because the engine always recharge the batteries a bit. That’s why it will work for everyone in a normal situation (because again, this isn’t a sports car) ; however it will not for l’Argus, after 2,5 laps on the Nurburgring (so almost 65 kilometres on full send), the engine can’t keep up and only delivers 200 hp. That’s physics, as you said, and maybe you should study yours to learn how a PHEV system works : when the battery is empty, they almost all work as normal hybrids.
@@BLADYT If the batteries are charged even a little bit then they're not empty but if you keep using it faster than it can be recharged then you'll eventually run out of charge as per the nurburgring as you said. Regarding charging I can 't find any info on engine charging on stellantasis PHEVs and I suspect there's no seperate generator (more weight) but instead it uses the motors to charge it when the car is moving which means anyone who's hoping the battery can be recharged by the engine in traffic will be disappointed.
@@BLADYT Thanks for demonstrating you don't have a clue. Newsflash - if the engine is going to charge the battery when stationary the car will need an actual electric generator mated to the engine (or did you think the electrickery jumped off the spinning crankshaft into the battery cuz its like "Magic" init?) and if the car doesn't have one then it won't be charging anything stationary. A standard alternator isn't anywhere close to being powerful enough.
While not really a Peugeot fan, I love fast wagons in preference to SUVs and this is very stylish, although not quite so keen on the Allegro style steering wheel.
I built one of these on the configurator a couple of months ago and managed to get it up to £68k with options! £68k! 😂 I mean it’s decent but that’s M3/C43/RS4 money. Great review as always though Tish, i will now refer to wheels I like as “cracking alloy wheels” 😂
Hello I hope you doing well. I have a question for this Peugeot 508. Is the door locking sound the New one or the same one as from the Prefacelift model. Greetings.
Would I buy this car new with that sticker price - NO. Would I buy one used with 10-30k km after initial depreciation - MOST DEFINITELY. To my eyes this is one of the most good looking sedans/wagons currently on sale. The French are smashing it out of the park at the moment when it comes to design.
It depends on your height/size. I have driven the new 308 and previous 308 and I had no problem at all and found my seating postion very quickly in both. I am 6"3
I’ve not had an issue in any of the Peugeots I’ve driven - the idea is you have the small steering wheel down so you can look at the dials instead of them being obscured by the wheel it’s not took me long to get comfortable and I like the sporty small steering wheel
Good. The more of them out there the more distinctive we'll look. Merc, Audi, BMW everywhere round us. All men with beards in joggers with baseball caps and surly attitude. Funny.
Be careful when comparing price... with the PSE, it has pretty much everything included, whereas its German rivals generally don't. Also, since the PSE was originally launched, the price hasn't actually changed, despite practically everything getting more expensive in that time. Finally, that BMW is going to run out of charge as well, even if it takes a little longer.
I prefer the pre-revamp 508. It looked more cohesive a neither. The grill on this one just looks too big and empty like It is missing something. Still a great car do. I think it coukd be colour sensitive too and white at the front with all that black really does it no favours at all.
It is awkward and takes some getting used to, you have to sit with the wheel very low. Some people love it like that but for some it is too awkward to see
I simply don't understand why it is taking Peugeot SO long to role out a fully electric 308, 408 and 508 range with decent range. Meanwhile Tesla, Proton, Kia, MG, Hyundai, even Mercedes etc etc are making a killing.. What's the problem Stellantis?
This is my next car. I have the 330E M-sport X-drive touring, and it's a shitcunt. I love the car, but the suspension can't handle the weight and has all but shit itself after only 2 years.
The problem I have with the styling is that the previous model looked super elegant whereas this is too shouty & aggressive.still a gorgeous car however you flip it
Great looking car, but it needs decent 150-200hp diesel engine. Until few years ago 95% of all cars in this class were diesels...at least in UK/EU market.
I own the 2.0 HDi 163 hp diesel version and indeed this is what the car needs, with its 400 Nm of torque. I came from 2x the previous 508 SW 1.6 HDi company car, 2nd with the EAT6 gearbox, which was already very good. I'm retired now and this 2.0 HDi EAT8 will hopefully be my last car, an electric or hybrid car would not be my favorite.
Diesel has been operating for years and no one’s had a problem with it, all of a sudden government and environmentalists have put a bad spin on it that’s all. In 20 years the same will be placing a bad spin on batteries and their damage to the environment, especially when disposing.
@@vijaymistry4169 Couldn't agree more the latest diesels with particulate filters are probably as clean as a petrol car, I'm sad that a lot of people in the future will not be able to afford to drive as electric cars are unaffordable for many I have nowhere to charge so will end up paying twice as much to get around using public chargers, at least diesel and petrol costs the same for all.
Really 😂 nice car 🚗🚙🏎️ and great 👌 interior design and beautiful 😍 flat buttom steering, but I have to say all this technology would have been better in an SUV or a modern truck which is the future of all the automotive industry. More attention should have been given to their SUV and developing of a proper truck line. I said it once before, who drives a stationwagon in this modern time?
I'm sorry but I stopped watching when you said 55 thousand. I remember buying a new 308gti 5 years ago for less than 25 grand I mean come on 55 grand imagine what that would buy you if you were prepared to wait a year or so, A45 AMG Porsche Cayman the list goes on need I say more, nice review though will keep looking out for your posts.

I like it because it's different
Well done Peugeot ❤
I like the New Generation 508 particularly the New Front Fascia and the Interior design as well 😊
They’re very pretty cars!!
The new Peugeot 508 PSE is like the Audi for 100000 DM in the late eighties.

Coming from a girl, who loves the fastest estate, that’s high praise!

Havals really pull their design from the Peugeots so
Great review and in the heat! Lovely car good looking and a bit different to your usual German candidates.

I found the GT version much more impressie. I drive 225 hp always in sport mode, and is really a " GT " car❤

nice video, nice car. But why you dont show us the only difference , the all new i cockpit?
Sorry about that, I think at the time I couldn’t tell the difference. It’s much better not being 3D!
