BOSS TREMOLO VOLUME, LED, & HiFi MOD: How to Fix Sound Drop on a TR-2 / Upgrade Control & Fidelity

In this video, I will be going step-by-step on how to upgrade your Boss Tremolo TR-2 pedal to have volume control. I will also upgrade some capacitors to increase the fidelity and will also replace an LED just to boost this MOD look.

Thanks for a really useful and no-nonsense lesson on what needs to be done to fix this pedal. I was almost going to get rid of mine until I found your video. The volume drop was what really made me hate this pedal, but once I added to HiFi mod, I realized just how much the original pedal messed with the tone. Now, the pedal keeps exactly the same tone and volume level, it just adds tremolo. Like it should have in the first place.

Would have been nice if you actually showed footage of you removing and replacing the capacitors and pots instead of skipping over it.

Thanks for the feedback. I was conflicted on showing that part. I figured people wouldn’t want to see that considering most videos I have seen of people soldering put me to sleep. I could have sped it up though. I’ll do that next vid.

Just to get this right, you’re using a 100k concentric pot also to substitute R9 which is supposed to be a 10k. Am I missing something, can you explain thanks
