The humility that comes from this man is astounding. So glad the world is able to hear his music and enjoy the joy that comes from his songs. Rock On Mark !!!!
A lovely man and legendary songwriter with a unique cultural and technical background. Local hero is one of the best, intense and moving soundtrack ever written. Thanks Mark, living legend and true gentleman of the music.
Talk about the anti-rock star! Would love to meet this guy sometime! I have always considered him one of the greats of the modern era, because of his unique technique and the sound that produces ... he and Jeff Beck share that quality, though with vastly different results, of course... "Tunnel of Love" you say? One of the great extended guitar solos of rock history to me! But, watching this video, can we just add "nice human being" to the list too?!
He's better now than when he was in Dire Straits. And that's saying a lot. because they were fantastic creating a niche in the musical tree of evolution. I don't believe in human evolution, GOD made man as man right from the start, but I do believe in musical synthesis , and Dire Straits left it's mark in that tree...Knopfler continues to leave marks.
@@leighmackeen622 Yes! The simple, quick explanation is that the godless believe something came from nothing, and the God fearing people believe Nothing came from something.
@@sherryburrows2252 I'm no expert but I think rock and roll just "happened" to MK during DS. Later on he developed his true and natural style of story telling and music. What remained constant though is the unmistakable guitar sound. Every song could be a script for a play, or a movie. Amazing Human being.
Nowadays people do not recognize musicians on a singular base. Marketing only seems to want to mention the lead singer of the band. What a shame! I am glad I know the difference between the music (said lightly) today and years ago.
@@franciscomonsalve921 Most of his set list decisions seems to be based on how best to take advantage of the 10 piece band he had. WHen he played Sultans, he would always play it as a four piece. Seems a waste when you had that much talent available so he went back and played Money for Nothing (which he hasn't played in YEARS) and added in the horns and made it a lot more fun.
I saw him for the 1st time 2 years ago. At the end of the concert all I wanted to do was tell him how much I love his music and give him a hug.

His songs always told a story and his guitar gave them a life! He is a true testament of what great music is all about! A heartfelt musical genius!
A thoughtful and mature musician/composer. Mark Knopfler is the real deal.
It's impossible not to like Mark. He is so talented and so humble, and fun to listen to.
Thanks for posting. Saw him in May of 2019 in his hometown of Glasgow. Great concert!
you have to be grateful to live in a era where you are surrounded by amazing musicians and mark knopfler is one and a great songwriter
What a humble musical genius. He could play my broom handle and make it sound like Strat
I could make a strat sound like a broom handle. Guess I'm the opposite of a musical genius.
