    Really hope the channel gets huge, learned so much from this channel that I struggled to learn reading books and hopping on the forums. Still learning every time I watch a video. Hoping to tune my 2017 Camaro soon and I have a 81 Camaro I’m planning on doing a turbo LS swap.

    Whew. I haven't touched a Gen V yet BUT I have tuned a newer cammed Mopar with the torque based setup like a Gen V. This is easy to follow since I have this experience...

    One thing to pay attention to is when doing percentages on the torque tables is to be careful with negative numbers. Multiplying by decimals will take them the wrong way if you aren't careful.
    Excellent video as usual 👍

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  5 років тому +1

      Yep, makes you have to spend a lot more time dialing things in when you're working on the higher end as it is very easy to accidentally hit negative values in the lower spark ranges.

    What about fueling? A bigger cam with more overlap is going to be pushing more O2 into the exhaust, so the PCM will be adding more fuel than necessary. How do you compensate for that issue? Very instructive video, BTW.

    Soooooo, I’ve watched all your videos 500 times and I swear my 2014 e38 ecm has hidden idle torque tables like the gen 5 ecu’s have. 5 years so far 6 known tuners have not been able to get idle even close and I’ve gotten close, but not close enough. To me, it seems like a torque issue cause it is a manual and when I have idle as close as I’ll get it and throw it in reverse and add some load to engine without hitting throttle, dam thing idles perfect and happy and scanner looks perfect everywhere. I just can’t access the right tables or I can’t adjust torque tables correct under edit tab correctly. Hp tuners list my ecm as a. E38 gen 4. Car is a 2014 Camaro ss2. It’s not supposed to have next generation limited slip tech either, yet I get warning signals on dash like gen 5 ecus. I can tell u it’s physically not on the vehicle though. Has electric power steering too. I’m throwing a centrifugal on it as soon as it gets delivered and hope that puts enough load to simulate say reverse gear load without throttle. Unless you’ve dealt with this and have some advice. Thanks

    So the external load table relates directly to my zero pedal engine torque.
    And delivered engine torque relates to virtual torque tables .
    And the goal is to make them as close to each other as possible .what about speed control reserve table what pid does it relate to ?
    You know of we can uderstand these torque pids and which tables exactly do they reflect on the scanner that would make it so much simple and easy to tune these gen 5 any chance of a video explaining these kyle maybe soon enough? Great video by the way.

    '14 ATS 2.0T. - I've dialed everything in with a larger TB and larger Dia. MAF housing... except for idle. Originally I got TONS of negative timing (from tq mgmt advance) at idle. Adjusted my Virtual TQ tables accordingly and got things really solid at idle, back to +15-20* timing... ONLY when AC is on. As soon as I turn the AC off, idle goes completely erratic, with huge timing and throttle swings.
    Cannot figure this one out and it's driving me nuts.

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  5 років тому +2

      Haha, that's crazy! Check to see what your AC table is doing, I can't remember if they are torque or load on those, and try and make the adjustments to your base torque to make it run like ac on, you might then have to adjust the AC on parameters. The torque based idle setups are so finicky. Just a lot of trial and error

  • @blairbarham6532
    @blairbarham6532 4 роки тому

    Ok easier question, if Zero peddle engine torque is 50'ish and engine torque is 75'ish. Do I go up in that area on the torque maps or down? timing is around 0 to 6

  • @mattofearle
    @mattofearle 5 років тому +1

    Would any changes need made if you just bump the idle set points up on a stock cam? I raised mine to 600 to get a smoother idle. Is there anything that can be tuned to smooth the stock idle rpm other than just raise the set point?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  5 років тому +1

      Not really, the adaptives should keep it as close to the set rpms as possible on the stock cam

    I have paid for a recent expert tune on my TT 11 Camro with a cam. The car responds excellent but from around 20MPH-65MPH when the pedal is steady or cruise control is set the RPM/IDLE pulses up and down. Above 65 MPH or in acceleration the car runs perfect. Is this something being new to this all I can look for and perfect myself? Thank you and WOW most if this is WAY over my head but I am certainly learning from you. I should have said - prior to the tune this was not an issue. Thank you!

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 роки тому

      Sure, fist verify that your fueling in that area is steady, then look at your timing and make sure it is steady.

    Useful video as usual. So why did you choose 50 as a torque limit in the external load table?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Think of that table as all the devices the engine is powering while you are at idle, vacuum pump, ac compressor, alternator, etc. We are basically saying it shouldn't take more torque than this to achieve idle with our loads. With a belt driven supercharger it is going to be higher. Also keep in mind that torque is calculated off of your airmass readings so if you don't have those dialed in nothing you do will probably help. On this platform we have to just get it running so we can do the airflow tuning so that the torque will start to read correctly to allow us to tune things like this.

    If I have L86 cammed TSP 218/226. And it's been tuned on 93 runs great idles great. Before the cam I previously enabled the E85 and added a sensor with HP tuners I own. I know the tuner didn't work on any E85 stuff and he did a great job and I needed it up a runing fast since it's my DD. I been spending sometime getting the shifting dialed in and smoothing the MAF and VVE tables with a wideband I have now on the truck. When it has E85 in the tank my only complaint is. It's slightly jerky when coming to a stop at a red light. It's doesn't do it on straight 93. Could I copy what he changed on the Virtual Torque>Airmass and MAP tables and add that to the E85 virtual torque tables? Then work it from there?

  • @TheHerokid672

    Two questions,
    Would this apply to a gen V lf4 motor such as the ATS-v? Looking to upgrade next year to one.
    Do you have a gen 4 idle tuning video in the works? That's where I'm struggling.

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  5 років тому +1

      Any DI Gen V is going to be torque based as far as I've seen. Gen IV still use airflow, and I'll be doing a video on them soon.

    Do you have to dial in VVE tables when just running MAF all the time to make the torque tables accurate?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  3 роки тому

      You should. At the end of the day torque is based on mass airflow, but don't confuse that with MAF as you're still calculating mass airflow when running off the VE table

    • @jackfowler5143
      @jackfowler5143 3 роки тому

      @@GoatRopeGarage So dialing in both the VVE tables and the MAF sensor is not necessary If only going off of one or the other, but dialing in both is the recommended thing to do? Or will the torque tables not work correctly if only one is dialed in. Thanks for the help.
