24 hr assault pack comparison (Eberlestock vs Mystery Ranch)

- I compare features of two mid tier bags in the 200-300 dollar range and give my reasons for why I'm getting rid of my Eberlestock Switchblade and swapping to a Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack.
We're not reinventing the wheel here. This is a no frills, no pageantry video comparing features. Apologies in advance for audio quality we promise we're upgrading our audio rig soon!
Wow. I just searched for this exactly, clicked on the first one I saw, and it was this… 2 minutes after you uploaded 😂 crazy. Thanks for covering this!
We appreciate any feedback and showcasing the products! We would mention the Switchblade is made more for EDC and not as an assault pack, but would be optimized with a hipbelt added to it. We would recommend you look at some of our actual assault packs, such as the HiSpeed/LoDrag, FacTrack, Little Brother with frame sheet, or G2 Gunslinger
Been looking at a gunslinger. Feel free to send me one!
I like the Tasmanian Tiger equivalent to these, similar features and shape/ fitment (good load bearing system too), the 5.11 24hr bag isn't bad either. Solid bro.
What perfect timing. Was just looking at assault packs and wondering where to start.
As always dude, great fuckin content!
Just upgraded to Mystery Ranch after 12 years with a Maxpedition pack.
So much better and waterproof.
MR 2dap with a Carcajou large sustainment pouch on the front, & two Carcajou 200rd saw (gp) pouches on the either side. Really is the perfect 3 day pack for me.
I've been getting pretty into Carcajou lately. I guess Canadians can do SOMETHING right.
@@sectorseven07 yeah bubba they been killing it. Their stuff is super well crafted & well priced!
Arc’teryx assault 30 has been the best I’ve used.
I bet. Arcteryx is fantastic.
I’m going to have to disagree. You should have compared the mystery ranch to something like the eberlestock little brother or the hi speed, those are more oriented towards what you were trying to do. The switchblade is more of an edc pack like vertx and you can attach a hip belt to it.
You can buy a 40 dollar hip belt from Eberlestock and attach a hip belt, but I'd like it to come standard with it. The switchblade is sold in their military line and features a 30 liter capacity, indicating it's oriented toward a 24-48 hour pack. I think in its price bracket (without additional hip belt) it would be seen as a contender with other 225ish 30 liter packs. It has the features of an EDC pack and as an assault pack, hence why I think it kind of struggles to settle into either role. If I'm going to use a pack for EDC it's definitely not going to be a 30 liter little half ruck like the switchblade though. Something closer to 20 liters is a lot more reasonably sized. I actually like the LBT 14 liter day pack a lot for EDC. Then again I'm not the kind of guy who thinks he needs to pack an SBR for his trip to Kroger so YMMV.
@@sectorseven07 I do agree the switchblade is setup more as an edc pack like the little trick pack. I personally run the lodrag. It’s similar to the high speed but with a weapon scabbard. And they come included with a hip belt and a hard plastic frame sheet. However there newest version they just dropped had a price jump from 250 (when I got mine) to 350.
@@tyleradkins7294 The next eberlestock I want to check out is the gunslinger.
@@sectorseven07 I’ve heard but great great things about it. Only reason I didn’t get one is because I wanted a separated main compartment instead of one big compartment.
Your videos are great keep it up
I like both of them, a lot. Eberlestock has a lot of cool bags.
This video was helpful! :D
I went with the military 3 day assault pack!
I would too for sure if I could afford one right now
@@sectorseven07 Got mine for 40 bucks on the internet. It was used but in descent shape.
I wanted to ask you country boa to country boa, do you prefer multi cam or woodland camo ?
@greenghost5009 Highly depends on time of year. Also for base layers I think woodland looks better but ppe I think multicam looks better. Modern m81 gear looks weird to me. I was also part of the testing and implementation of multicam so it has a special place in my heart.
@greenghost5009 also I may be southern but I'm no country boy. I grew up in the city unfortunately.
Both good bags , i also like USMC ilbe and bongo.
I ran an ilbe for years. Great option on a budget.
Excellent video, I see that subscriber count is steadily rising. Eberlestock shines in their edc bags and their hunting bags, their tactical offerings are questionable for basically all the reasons you mention. Some of the design features that make sense on an edc bag don't apply to an assault pack, I run the LBT 3 day assault packand it doesn't come with any internal organization, its just 3 open compartments with the big one having a sleeve for a bladder. It has a hip belt but like the one you showed, it has no way to stow it, I usually just take the slack out and tighten it all the way up then it sits on my lower back, or take it off entirely and tuck it inside. Actually, when I leave it on the back it kind of gives me a bit of an air gap and a cushion on my lower back that can be nice. There's a ton of options out there but some are definitely better than others. Mystery ranch is always gonna be up there for me when it comes to "tactical" style bags. Right now I run the LBT 3 day assault pack and I run a USMC filbe with an Alice frame as my main ruck, that combo sustains me for about 10 days with food, shelter, water, water purification, ammo, and room for any kind of team equipment that we may he cross loading, plus room for additional sustainment. Love this video and Id like to see a video on squad gear and cross loading, doesn't seem to be as popular of a topic as individual gear because it's not as sexy but squad water purification or bigger shelter setups for an LP/OP are something worth talking about
The lbt 3 day still stands to this day as one of my favorite packs in it's size category for the price. I ran one in Mas gray for three years. It's not huge in feature sets but it just works. Though I do moreso consider it a 24 hour pack. And my back isn't getting any younger, so I started moving to having some more rigidity in the pack for the comfort over long distances even in smaller packs.
@@sectorseven07 Longevity is key, I run a frame sheet in mine in the hydro sleeve, every little bit helps
Check out our Minuteman Pack
@@fulltangtactical those look nice!
Youre comparing a CCW/EDC backpack to a 2 day assault pack
That much is evident by eberlestock's response. Yet they offer a molle hip belt for it, it's sold in multicam, and it's 30 liters. How many human beings are rolling with a 30 liter hip belted multicam pack for EDC that aren't also a closet homosexual?
@sectorseven07 lol idk about that but idk if they gonna send you more packs after that comment lol
@yoinky I hope they do. I'm still in that magical phase of youtube where I'll tell the truth about gear. Once you see me selling subs to SDI you can be sure I've sold out. But I'd love a free eberlestock pack. In fact I didn't hate the switchblade I think they just allow it to seem like something it's not.
Thanks for sharing this with us!! Great technological details! Good to have these details shown to us!! Thanks! 🎯🤝👍✌️💪🥾🫡
