    To go over a few comments and "counterguments"
    1. "Metro Man is a parody of Superman, so he should win". What? Just because a character is a parody or homage to another doesn't automatically mean they get their same feats and attributes. That's like me saying that Goku could defeat Superman because he scales above Doctor Slump's Suppaman who is clearly a parody of Superman.
    2. "We haven't seen Metro Man's full potential." True, but it would be burden of proof to put it anywhere near Omni-Man's level of power. You'd have to make a lot of assumptions.
    3. "Red Rush could hurt Omni-Man, so Metro Man could do the same." Just because Red Rush did that doesn't automatically mean Metro Man would fare the same. Again, you'd have to PROVE Metro Man has enough attack potency to do the same thing.
    4. "Metro Man is much faster". As I said in the video, I'd love for someone to calculate it high enough to prove it stacks up to Omni-Man. Otherwise, saying he is simply faster without a calculation or some sort of metric, reeks of headcanon.

      Omni man has more things going for him because he has more things to look at in general compared to metro man, who only has one movie and pretends, he’s dead for half of it
      I agree with most of what you’re saying, and I do think Omni man would win, though I would say that durability is up for debate
      Even if he didn’t tank the attack, megamind shot at him, megamind who knows him best didn’t believe that he would die from that, even after supposedly learning that his weakness is copper
      I think, based off of that you could get metal means durability easily to star level
      But there’s different ways you could get Omni man’s durability to that level as well to be honest so it’s debatable, but obviously in an overall fight, Omni man will win

    Its worth mentioning that when Metroman is moving with his superspeed he is walking, which implies this isn't the fastest he can go. Also, we can't really prove whether or not he lacks the durability, strength, or stamina to beat omniman since the only thing we have to go off of is tighten, who is much weaker than Metroman.

    • @dylangray9531
      @dylangray9531 Рік тому +594

      Of course that’s if Tighten is weaker than Metroman. Megamind states that he’s given him all his powers never compared him on a power scale. Of course he ran from him in the movie, or what he thought was Metroman, but what should be taken into consideration is the character that is tighten….he’s a bitch that no one worried about because he was harmless.

    • @turtspotato
      @turtspotato Рік тому +754

      @@dylangray9531I think it's safe to say Tighten is weaker than Metroman (probably because he only had his powers for a few days), but we can only scale them on speed. The fastest we see Tighten moving is when he broke the sound barrier as he flew away from "Metroman", so assuming his other powers scale the same suggests he is weaker than Metroman. Obviously I'm just assuming that Tighten wasn't as strong as Metroman in other regards and that him flying away was the fastest he could move, but we can't do much else in terms of power scaling since it was only one movie.

    • @dylangray9531

      @@turtspotato That’s a fair analysis honestly, I think the debate was always gonna be a little fuzzy not just on how little most people know of Omni Man if you’re just looking from the show but also how Metro Man and Tighten were written. Like they were never meant to be characters like Invincible and Omni Man. Their powers are mainly there for comedy or to push the plot. Not as much as looney tunes but he’s just a parody to Superman and the writers never thought much as far as math when it comes to how strong people should be because then why can’t Megamind do anything to them? He’s the smartest brain with fantasy levels of technology and you’re saying nothing he’s invented is good enough? Their powers just aren’t meant to be taken that seriously I mean the movie doesn’t really when you compare how characters react to both figures. Tighten turns evil and everyone worries the city is lost. Omni Man….yeah we’re lucky if the planet is left when he’s done.

Metro man is definately more faster in reaction to omni man but also must take into account that he has no equal in his world and has always held back enormisely and allowed megamind to just be until he felt it was necessary to stop him since he never felt that megamind was actually a bad guy.

    I think Metromans speed is just incredible, because not only do we see him basically stop time relative to his speed, its controlled speed. Its not something he had to build up with accelleration, he just has the ability to go multiple times light speed from 0 in an instant with complete control. @@taylorhillard4868 it wasn't days it was more like half+ of a day, I get where you are coming from though.
      the duration of one frame recorded at 30 frames per second (fps) is 1/30 seconds.
      To convert 24 hours to seconds, you multiply by 60 (minutes per hour) and 60 (seconds per minute):
      Metroman's duration = 24 hours * 60 minutes/hour * 60 seconds/minute = 86,400 seconds.
      Using the average walking speed of 2 miles per hour, we can calculate the distance covered:
      Distance = Speed * Time = 2 miles/hour * 86,400 seconds = 172,800 miles.
      Average Speed = Total Distance / Total Time
      Total Distance = Distance covered during Metroman's day = 172,800 miles
      Total Time = Duration of Metroman's day in real time = 1/30 seconds
      Average Speed = 172,800 miles / (1/30 seconds) = 5,184,000 miles per second.
      So the average speed of Metroman is 5,184,000 miles per second.
      Average Speed = 5,184,000 miles per second * 3600 seconds per hour = 18,622,400,000 miles per hour.
      Therefore, Metroman's correct average speed is 18,622,400,000 miles per hour. Or sub-relativistic speeds.

      The afterimage is not just an afterimage. It's a red and blue afterimage, which I believe is their attempt to show him Red and Blue Shifting. It's a phenomenon that happens with light, as you approach the speed of light, photons ricochet off you unevenly. This means the light bouncing off you as you move away doesn't have as much momentum coming back to the viewer so it stretches the wavelengths and turns red and the opposite for moving towards you, compressing the wavelengths and turning the light blue. In order to show this at all, our own perspective has to be shifted much closer to the speed of light, which means Metroman is insanely close to breaking the speed of light, inside a planets atmosphere. Omniman never shows this kind of speed in the series, and only comes close in space with no gravitational forces being applied to him.

We should probably take note the massive thinking capability that would take. Omni-Man's reaction time scales with the speed at which he moves. Metro Man's doesn't scale. Metro Man, recognizing that this isn't Megamind he's fighting, would probably essentially freeze time in order to analyze Omni Man. He could eventually figure out his Viltrumite weakness to certain sound pitches. It is also reasonable to assume that if this is Omni Man from early on in the show, Metro Man could damage him, as even Red Rush, a human who moved fast, could damage him admittedly at high cost to himself. Metro Man could pelt Omni Man with every rock on Earth in an instant to take him down before Nolan would even realize he's dealing with someone who can move fast.

    While we never really see the full extent of Metroman's power, mainly cause there's nothing in his own universe that could really challenge him, the speed feat really gives us everything we need to know.
    The fact that he moved so fast that a *literal second* of time seemingly lasted an entire day for him blows anything Nolan can do out of the water, mainly cause of the fact that he was *walking* , reading, reminiscing and eating food while completely unworried about his stamina or the time he was wasting. Implying he can go *much* faster and for *much longer* if he really wanted to. Also, since his body alredy has to have the durability to not fly apart while going that fast, he's alredy pretty much comparable to a Viltrumite.
    Also Hal really isn't comparable to Metroman. Yeah, he has all his powers, but they're clearly either bootleg versions or Hal ,being the shithead he is, really just didn't put any real effort into actually mastering them, the latter being the more likely one.
    Now, granted, Nolan has an *insurmountable* advantage in pure experience. Not only has the guy been around for thousands of years, but he knows how to fight and kill other Viltrumites or people of a similar level, so it wouldn't take him very long to figure out that Metroman isn't used to fighting with someone in the same weight class as him and use that to his advantage.

    NEVER ground anything on the travel speeds of comic characters. Comics tend to drastically underestimate the vastness of the universe.
    Even Iron Man was (without any warp drive technology) able to travel faster than light. Not because the writers wanted to give him that power but because it fit the story better if he traveled to neptune in a few minutes instead of years. Same goes for Omni man. If comic writers would acknowledge the vastness of the Universe there would not be such comics.

    The problem with the speed comparison is ... I'm not sure Metroman was actually using super-speed per say, like... he was moving around casually, standing in place at times eating a burger... without stirring so much as a mild breeze at those around him during those brief moments in time that he stretched out into a whole "rethink all your life choices and read some books about it" montage. For all we know Metroman actually slowed time, much like how superman in the 1st movie was able to Reverse time and go back a day simply by traveling around the planet several rotations. In short, Metroman's speed feat operates so... differently from how we understand normal physics and simply 'going really fast' would interact that we cant readily draw any conclusions on how that power actually operates. Other than the fact that it's a complete cheat. I mean it makes it pretty obvious that Metro-man could have defeated Megamind anywhere, anytime he wanted and he was literally getting bored with the whole thing.
    We do know the following: In this hyper-mode he's able to move and interact with objects... There's no reason to assume he cant do the same with living things but obviously Metroman would avoid doing that since he is, in the end, a good guy. While in hypermode he's got perfect control over his own actions, no appreciable loss of precision or power.
    The above premise means that, at the minimum. Omni man would have the same issue getting to hurt Metro-man that he had with Red Rush, only much more so and even if he did catch him there's no guarantee that Omni-man could just squish him, in fact that is highly unlikely and considering that Red Rush's punchy barrage alone was able to leave some serious bruises... Metro-man could do that and better with relative ease.
    The core problem with this vs comparison in general is that we simply have much too few feats or proper demonstrations of Metro man's full capabilities, the one feat he does of going hyper-speedy however already makes it clear that his powers do not answer nor give an eff about conventional physics at all where Omni-man's abilities do. Thus until we see Omni-man manage casual super-speed feats that outpace Red Rush, let alone come close to Metro Man's... I dont see how any final conclusions on this contest can be made other than the fact that Metro-man has Omni-man beaten cold in terms of super-speed. Even if we say that Omni-man can react and interact at the space-faring speeds he's been at in the comics... That's not really in the same ballpark as being able to casually walk around, grab a hot dog and go read some books from the library, rethink your life, go swipe a fake skeleton from the nearby school to set up your faux death and get back to replace yourself with the faux bones and costume all in the time it takes some kind of sun-powered energy beam (be it particle, plasma or laser it still went from orbit to ground in moments.
    So yeah, at best Omni-man could never catch Metro-man unless the latter wanted to be caught. And if he did we honestly dont know how they would compare in terms of brute strength or ability to resist harm.
    And Titan really does not work for comparisons because, again, look at the speed feat Metro-man did, if Titan was even a miniscule fraction of that level of power there's just nothing that Megamind could have done, he would have been turned into a wet smear the instant he showed himself in line of sight. That did not happen though, in fact where Titan was fleeing as hard as he could, thinking it was Metro-man chasing him.... Not-Metro-man was keeping up! Thus it can be safely concluded that the two are not remotely in the same league. Presumably Titan's abilities might represent what Metro-man was capable of when he was freshly arrived on earth, growing exponentially stronger over time. That or being infused into a human body simply put a hard-cap on how much of a power boost was possible. In fact, Titan's demonstrated abilities Do compare not so poorly with what Mark was capable of for most of season one, except Mark couldnt lift the upper half of a collapsing building where Titan was able to use a comparable structure as a missile weapon... Huh.

    • @accywacky2699
      @accywacky2699 Рік тому +28

      @@dxmxdomo Yup, and honestly one of the points I made really stands out. Titan is basically a Weaker version of Metroman, yet he is able to pick up a big hunk of building and throw it as a missile weapon. Meanwhile Invincible at the end of season one could not hold up the upper half of a much smaller building to save multiple lives... It's pretty obvious that Titan is considerably stronger after a few weeks of being empowered than Mark is after months, half a year or more that season one takes place over. Add in Metroman's speed feat which Omni-man doesnt even come remotely close to equaling at any point in the series (no flying at high speeds through open space is not the same as moving That fast in an atmosphere around people while causing no noticable side effects for his surroundings). So really we do not know enough to make a particularly well informed decision but if we Are forced to make a guess, based on what we have to work with, then Metroman is the clear winner.

    We do actually have better evidence of the timeframe for Metroman's speed feat. During the crowd shot with the two on screen in the observatory scene, he actually vanishes for a few framesat most at the moment we later see him wander off, meaning he did everything but actually fake his death in the span of maybe .1 of a second at the absolute most. I couldn't find the actual number of frames.
    On a sidenote, he creates no sonic boom and causes no damage to the people around him or the objects he interacts with, meaning he's capable of negating numerous physical effects he'd otherwise have on his surroundings to a far greater degree than we see from someone like Quicksilver in the X-Men films.

      I will say the following though. I am tired of people finding and/or creating excuses to mock and start senseless and one sided debates, where there is *no one* arguing or even had argued with their points, in the first place!
      Just because of the premise, your safe net card, being that you simply misunderstand, doesn't mean people won't call you out on being an arse for it. Literally no one is arguing Omni Man's feats in this particular thread (except for you) , so why even bother writing that comment?
      All that was said, was about Metro Man being able to put out a decent fight at best and we are being generous as hell. We know that Omni Man is Over Powered and that he will win against Metro Man. But the "Burden of proof" makes it impossible to tell just by how much. That's what *I* want to know, at the very least.

    Completely underestimated Metro Man. You can't scale Metro Man, who is pretty much a God, to Hal, who had no fighting experience and only had his powers for maybe 2 days max. Saying that Omni-Man comes anywhere near to Metro Man's speed is a complete waste of time, as Metro Man went from 0 to Sub-speed of light levels. Obviously, he wasn't moving faster as the light was able to enter the observatory as he opened the doors, but he still went from 0 to basically as fast as physically possible. Not to mention that Metro Man was WALKING and SITTING while time around him was pretty much still. It's another case of the "Hero" (I quote hero as Megamind is the main character/hero of the story) being so powerful that nothing can come close to challenging them. While we see Omni-Man moving very, very fast, it doesn't change the fact that Metro Man could have easily gone much, much faster if he wanted to, but he didn't, because he wasn't fighting anyone who could compare to him, he was revising his life. Omni-Man vs Metro Man isn't close, because Metro Man completely outmatches Omni-Man, in both speed and durability (Metro Man doesn't immediately explode and ignite into flames when going from 0 to pretty much the speed of light). You have made a completely one-sided argument, and thus here is your opposing side. So who do you think would win, some guy who deflected an asteroid with help from his son or someone who can go from 0 to light-speed and not immediately be reduced to absolutely nothing? Already, at the speed comparison, the guy's stating the opposite.
    Megamind was literally in a freeze frame when Megaman was walking around the observatory. Not only that, HE WAS WALKING. Not jogging, not running. He was just casually walking around, sitting still, reading a book. Contemplating about his life in the time it took for that laser beam to reach the building .
    Not only that, if the weapon fired at the speed of light, it would mean that sonic-speed ain't gonna cut it...not even by a percent.
    And physics tells that normal atoms, and humans, so to speak, cannot move at such speeds due to the incredible amount of G-force they'll experience. They'll burn up or turn to mush the moment they do that themselves. So Megamind already has one heck of a durability.
    Sure, invincible could fly towards Antarctica in a matter of a minute, but whose to say someone who can literally extend a second to milliseconds without gaining speed, and walk around, still have time to read a book at normal pace, then contemplate about life can't do better?
    With that ability, he probably doesn't need to pick-up speed, he'd just instantly be there.
    And F=mc squared. Imagine taking a punch from a guy that can blitz in an instant? And the amount of force you would need to apply to stop yourself at such speeds is fucking enormous.
    Whilst Megamind's world is less logical than Omniman, clearly due to this event, because if someone where to move at such speed, the world would've already been fucked right now. If a meteor the size of a city can wipe all life on planet, what about a being that's moving fast enough to almost freeze time without picking up speed? A step from a monster like that would be enough to punch a hole through the crust or maybe destroy the planet completely. That's something that's moving billions of times faster than sound, mind you.
    So with that, Megaman clearly has the strength, the durability, and the speed to take on someone like Omniman.
    And a reason why Omniman can't fly fast inside planets is due to physics. If you've seen what a jet can leave behind when they're near the ground, imagine something that travels faster than light, and then suddenly stops mid-flight. Without even touching the ground, that would be enough to fuck-up the crust through and through. And for something to withstood such force from the immediate stop, clearly makes Omniman way stronger than many of you describe him to be.
    But is he stronger?
    I honestly, do not know.
    There's not enough information about how far Megaman can go due to his story not being as flesh out as Omni's.
    But, hypothetically speaking, Megaman would just finger flick Omniman out of existence. Take that Laser Beam that fires a beam at lightspeed for example. There's a similar thing to in the animated version of Omniman.
    Both withstood that attack, but Metroman literally had more than enough time to move out of the way and do that scene, and I believe he also took that beam like a boss too, unlike Omniman. Mind you, if you so as to bump with Megaman at such speed, you are not gonna be in this world, my friend. Him being able to control each of his steps, movements, etc so much to prevent anything from him around from being disintegrated is one heck of a feat. Remember, a car doesn't stop immediately from a high speed after pushing the brakes. This guy manages to carefully slow down the speed of his movements that he doesn't' even leave a single broken material.
    If Megaman were to be a villain, the movie wouldn't even exist. He'd just lay his foot on the ground and obliterate the planet.

    • @khadz0
      @khadz0 Рік тому +1

      Yeah I’m just gonna copy-paste my other reply to you here too,
      YOU gotta understand speed. If we take real-life physics into account, Metro-Man simply moving at the speed he is, is impossible. Even ignoring that, him moving at such large speeds would cause gigaton-level explosions in every direction; he could literally move a single mm and blow up the entire city due to his massive kinetic energy. His movement against the air particles would cause an area of compression/high pressure such that everyone around for several miles would be vaporised. Does that happen? NO. Very clearly not. Not even a sonic boom is shown. This film and this scene clearly don’t take these into account, therefore we can’t just say he can weaponise his speed when, under normal circumstances of using them, nothing happens. The claim that he could bend the law of physics for when it suits him, i.e. randomly turning on the effects of kinetic energy for when he wants to punch stuff, is injudicious and disingenuous at best. I actively study physics at a college level, so there’s no need to try one up me on science stuff here like I’m an idiot.
      We NEED feats from Metro-Man, in terms of striking, lifting, durability, etc, for him to be relevant to Omni-Man at all. Listen, I can bs my way through this as much as anyone can, but I can do so for Omni-Man. He can travel at trillions of times the speed of light in space; the vacuum of space has subatomic particles called neutrinos everywhere, moving through space through them is nothing special. However, considering his immense speed, the durability Omni-man has to withstand colliding with neutrinos across the vacuum means any FTL hits from Metro-Man can’t do shit anyway.
      See how it works?

Theoretically, physical objects would increase in mass the closer they got to lightspeed until they reached infinite mass, which would require infinite energy to move, so any superhero that can move at lightspeed would require infinite energy. Effectively making any lightspeed reaching character godlike beings with infinite power.

    Basic science that will explain to you why Metro-Man (and all speedsters) are OP.
    If you divide the change in Metro-Man's speed by time you get his acceleration (which we will need later). It is pointless to do the math because we have no comparison to anything. He moves and thinks so fast, he virtually stops time. And he needs no previous acceleration, its almost instant.
    Now, knowing his acceleration is basically absurdly high due to the fact he goes from 0 to infinite speed in no time at all, and stops time... (which is unachievable by travelling at any possible speed because time is a constant, so he would need to travel at an impossible speed. Infinite.) We can go to the next point.
    If you multiply acceleration by mass, you get FORCE.
    So basically INFINITY x Mass = Infinity.
    This means, Metro-Man's strength is infinite as long as he uses it while travelling at his max speed. He could basically end existance in one punch.

    I still lean towards metroman with the speed feat, but have to agree that even then it wouldn’t be enough when dealing with Omniman overall. Really the only thing that could give it to metroman is if the creators said they have metro man be a parody of golden age superman and match up with him, meaning even as a parody metro man maybe could’ve replicated Superman’s sneezing planets away feat. However, at that point that’s just more so headcanon.

    Yes, thabk you. Finally a video on this debate that actually shows prove and uses actual scaling instead of just relying on headcannons.
    Though I did always wondered why this matchup even became popular to begin with. Other than the obvious supernan clone connection, the comparison always felt odd to me since I don't see metroman being pitted against the likes of Homelander or Brightburn as commonly with omniman.
    Well, anyways yes Omniman should realistically stomp really hard. Always hated the idea of "we don't this characters full potential so he can definitely be much more powerful than this etc". I could just similarly twist this argument and say that we don't know Omniman's full potential since viltrumites have already been established to grow stronger the more their limits are tested. Even with just the show feat Omniman does comparatively have much higher AP and Durability due to deflecting a meteor the size of texas or surving that huge satelite explosion so Metroman is still not scratching Omniman either ways.

If a normal human can react like that to Omniman, I think that puts him down quite a bit. I don't think theres any chance that if Cecil were fighting Metroman he would be able to react to Metroman charging at him considering the speed he has shown. And just because Metroman hasnt shown "strength" feats doesnt mean he wouldn't mollywhop Omniman with a punch, remember that momentum equals power so if Omniman got hit with a punch going as fast as Metroman could go I highly doubt he would just walk away from it unscathed.

Omni man wins a marathon, but metro man wins a sprint, and fights like these are more sprints than marathons, due to the close quarter nature.
    considering metro man lived out a day ish in 1 frame, so 1/60th of a second is ~24h for metro man, meaning he is casually, no effort mind you, processing information and existing at 63,000 times the speed of light, assuming he does a full 24h, at a mere 2mph walk, if he actually tries to go fast, likely thousands times faster. his combat reactions are likely leagues above this considering he was pondering his life, not just making a quick body shift, and only went fast enough so that regular people wouldn't see him.
    no he cant hurt omni man, but omni man cant react and accelerate to beat metro man, likely ends with metro running off, or them brokering a truce

    One thing I feel like a ton of people also ignore is that there are some vantage points to base Metro Man’s speed around. Firstly, Metro Man’s super speed may actually scale to the speed of Megamind’s Death Ray. As can be seen in the scene where Metro Man throws the skeleton, the speed of the laser is legit fast enough to be perceived in motion to Metro Man. Meaning if we’re to assume it’s actually travelling at light speed, then that’d actually put him at relative speeds of light (if not actually a bit over this, in fact, as he is still travelling faster than it and even outpaced the explosion, still nowhere even close to Omni Man however).
    Secondly, the instance right before he claims how copper drains his power as he’s overlooking city hall, we get a vague but important detail of a ray of sunlight beaming through a cloud. Meaning, we could even assume that Metro Man’s speed calc may even actually be below light speed given how much faster it moved compared to Megamind’s death ray. You could argue this is just a visual/gag cue since he has legit just stated he gained an incredible idea as soon as the beam of light hit him, but given how you could see even the sun beam was a tiny bit slow at reaching the ground given the speed of the cloud’s movement, I’d argue not. So, all in all, still nowhere near Omni Man.

      @@coreywilson7326 I'm not sure, either. Though, given his insane speed feat, he's got to be packin' some serious power along with it. I think he just needs a serious opponent to prove it against.

    I think you miss a detail or two. Omni Man ist just strong. Metroman is impossible.
    While Omni Man destroys the Flaxans and their whole planet - Metroman demonstrates at least the same feat of power without hurting a fly. Beware the day when that guy is unleashed.
