Absolutely adore your new style!!! I actually wasn't aware that Unity had a partner program. It's a big leap to step out of something like that, but it shows your integrity and we're here for it.
Unity and Godot are pretty much the same, they are like brothers and since unity was so popular he decided to help his little brother by shooting him self in the back. what a wholesome relationship !!
Well, Unity still exists, and they (kinda) fixed their blunder. Also I'm sure a lot of the skills they're going to teach you are universal game making skills which should carry over to a different engine.
I would also advise you do some Godot projects on the side and talk to your teachers so they can introduce more agnostic game development style and also maybe also provide intros to other engines (update their curriculum a bit). They should not put all their eggs in the Unity basket. What I like about the Harvard UA-cam course is that they teach many engines not just Unity.
Don't worry about the "Unity-exclusivity". Engines are just a tool or a vehicle. Switching from one to another does take a while to adjust but most of the knowledge can be transfered quite well. So if you want to go with Godot or Unreal (or something else like Stride, Flax, etc) in the future you'll make the jump way quicker when already knowing basics and good practices as they are extremely similar in virtually every engine. Considering you are doing it as a college course I think you are better off with Unity than Godot anyway, as Unity is basically the industry standard for everything that's not a hyperrealistic AAA shooter (which is what Unreal specializes on). And I know the Godot community will hate me for this but I think Unity will remain in that position for at least several years. At which point you could still switch to another engine then. I think Unity as an engine is actually in a much better state now than before this whole debacle and conditions, for especially indie devs, have actually improved with the latest version of pricing model in my opinion. Now it's mostly people who can't put aside their trust issues in the Unity management who still rant about it (especially on youtube) but I think the management has never been trustworthy in the first place so where's the news? And the community has shown to be very trustworthy and that they still have a say in things, especially when crashing the stock price by 28% (and still declining) can deter scummy execs from trying this kind of overreach again. And, to me at least, Godot's management doesn't seem to be particularly trustworthy either + Epic Games now also shows that the management is increasingly more pressured by their shareholders (yea, privately owned companies also have shareholders, surprise surprise, they aren't immune to chasing higher profit margins). FOSS vs a proprietary solution both has a variety of pros and cons and I think it mainly comes down to what you prioritize.
There was SimCopter years back that had similar concept but you would need to get water, put out fires, transport people etc. Anyway welcome to Godot family :)

The new unity program makes sense, they were earning less and less due to AI overtaking a whole lot and the thing most people seem to overlook is that before you actually need to pay for each purchase of the game you have to have earned something like 100,000 dollars if youre an indie solo developper.
I think if your helicoptor was just really sad he could cry on the fires instead of hosing them (uncontrollable constant crying) and you need to pick up eye drops when your eyes dry out 💀
It's great to see you diving into another engine. This game reminds me of an old flash game, possibly on miniclip, but unfortunately, I can't remember its name. Also, Barji engine, when?
You shouldve added some UI type sliders to adjust the speed of both pf the propelers that would also give the command to the object to rotate/move forwards with that amount of speed that the slider was set to normalized Times a multiple because thats actually how they are designed to function.. 😊
I know this isnt related to the video but I really like your bands music. I could be wrong but ive just realised, are you the singer?? thats awesome if so
Thanks for getting me interested into godot. As I heard what Unity did, my only option was to start with unreal again, I havent thought about godot as in my head it was only for 2d for some reason? anywy, I changed my mind now. thx
Bruh you could have at least made a ui for it there is not even a hint for controls 😭 the fog is so thick that the fire is not even visible the helicopter is going up continuously and where the F is the button to go down 😭😭 i need to use alt+f4 to close it there wasn't even a button to quit and WHY THE MOUSE SENSITIVITY SOO HIGH!?!?!?!

I'm really glad that Unity decided to implode like two weeks after I paid for a full college course that teaches exclusively Unity.

I think gamemaker is the best engine for beginners, because of how simple it is

I like how he casually ignores and doesn't even talk about unreal engine, which is the most powerful game engine ever existing.
It still has royalties and it not beginner friendly lol
