Such dedication man. Letting yourself get fired, joining a full week game jam and editing a half hour video about it just to tell us you have a girlfriend.
as an italian person i cant speak english perfectly and i thought that "laid off" was the same as getting laid, therefore i thought that this guy made a game for a game jam after having sex
dude got laid off as company replaced him with chatgpt, so now he use chatgpt to create a game to make income as personal developer and become successful and independant :) -- CHATGPT FOR LIFE"
Bro I laughed so much during this. Especially when you found Sebastian’s procedural terrain tutorial. You summed up my game dev journey of about 8 months perfectly
As im looking trough the commands i see you gained a lot of subs recently. This is totally justified because i have never seen such a funny devlog. Seriously great work, amazing video and i cant wait for more content from you soon :)
Love to see how only within two months this guy has a decently big fan base Personally I first saw him in the 6 developers make a game without communicating or something and thought he definitely had the personality to be a great youtuber Love your style and personality man keep it up
This was genuinely the funniest devlog style video I've ever seen. You kept me fully engaged throughout. Keep these up you have awesome editing and presenting skills!
You sir, had absolutely NO RIGHT to be this entertaining! How dare you, take my sub and go! Been a super long time since I've felt genuinely excited finding a new channel. Wishing good things for you, keep up this good work!
I love this style of game dev videos. Something both devs and gamers can enjoy. Subbed at 16k! You better remember me and everyone else when youre famous!
22.2k subs when I got here nearly ~year I think, since this upload and on way to 600k views. Hope everyone can land like a boss right on one of their other skills maybe combined with another from their literal arsenal of skillsets fully ripened ready to export creatively at an expert with GODMODE cheats activated :)
I was having such a bad day today, and usually UA-cam videos don't really make me smile or laugh, they're just a distraction for me. But this video was absolutely great. I got sucked into the video because I'm a dev, but I stayed for the while because the types of jokes were my type of light-hearted humour. Not overdone, just here and there, and just made me actually laugh out loud a few times. Great video, great humour, great end product. Subscribed!
This video was so entertaining and such good quality I was so surprised when i saw the number of subscribers. Videos like these is what made me want to study game dev and take courses so I can do it when I finish high school.
I never comment on anything, I genuinely enjoyed this video more than I can explain. It makes me so happy to see that in just 10 days you’ve gained 5000 subscribers, I can’t wait to see you blow up. I’m sorry about you getting laid off but I genuinely do think that was just opening a door for you to explore your creativity. I hope to see more content from you(:
Video length and how you go through everytyhing is amazing How you explain things is so relatable that I'm revisiting this every time I feel like I'm dying from how stuck I am, and this does a decent job clearing me up.
Was super fun watching you dev this. Did a small test of the game ofc and found something that I thought about mentioning. when placing a canon on a broken tile the tile gets fixed. If you still are developing this game and are looking for ideas or bug report. Then let me know because I would love to help with bug testing and ideas
holy crap, im surprised you only have ~700 subs !! you're super entertaining and your editing style is hilarious!! definitely subscribing and cant wait to watch ur channel grow!! :)
you should add shallow areas. When a shark kills a tile it turns into a shallow. But you can buy some sort of consumable that lets you turn shallows back into land.
This channel is actually awesome. Not a crazy coding genius like our favorite sebastian but still makes a fantastic game. This video was awesome and with a single video you’ve earned yourself a new subscriber!! I’m turning on notis and I truly hope you continue uploading these kinds of videos :)
Yes more please. Getting fired is the best thing that ever happened to you. Who knows where this channel can go, but you know what you are doing. Lean into this.
I saw a comment from 2 days ago saying he has 2 subcribers... He has 2.18k now... You managed to grow your channel crazy fat! Whatever you're doing to pull that off keep doing it.
169 subs with one video in less than 4 days is really impressive. Definitely gonna watch the video now to see the secret recipe lol. See you in 1k! :) Edit: There was no secret recipe. It is just an entertaining video about a fun game
i can tell based off this video alone that you watch a lot of youtube and have watched a lot growing up. the delivery, sound effects, segments and flow of this overall video were perfect and much more entertaining than any first video should be nowadays for a new channel just starting out. Either that or this is your second channel. Regardless good job, subbed!
I asked Dale what he thought about all this and here is what he had to say: "Oh man, I just watched this video titled "(743) i got laid off... so i made a game... - UA-cam" and let me tell you, it was a wild ride from start to finish! The creator lost their job but turned their misfortune into a hilarious game development journey with sleep-deprived art styles, chaotic code from Dale (AKA AI), and those sneaky little sharks. Not to mention the epic discovery of procedural island generation and the nail-biting race against the clock to complete the game in time. This was a rollercoaster of emotions, laughter, and game dev tips. If you haven't seen it yet, you've got to check it out! Who knew getting laid off could lead to such a fantastic adventure? 🎮🦈🌴"
Very cool game; I'm impressed that you were able to make that in seven days. I also felt surprised when you were able to add a lot of content in the last few hours of the competition.
Thanks for this video! I have wanted to try making games for years but never did because the thought of the steep learning curve paralyzed me. Your video made it seem achievable, although I'm sure it was a bit harder than it seemed. Thanks again
I could imagine this being like a tower defense version of Raft. As you compete rounds you can earn resources to make your raft better, and the sharks will work towards destroying it each round. It would be pretty cool as a multiplayer party style game too. It would be cool too if like in Raft, you could unlock recipes for upgraded equipment and reinforcements.
Dude, you are really good at making UA-cam videos. How isn’t you channel huge already? You have a great voice and excellent editing skills, I look forward to seeing more content you make in the future
I think there was an easier way to solve the bridge stuff: Force the user to need to build those. So basically in addition to turrets you need to build those bridges to defend the baby islands
Hahaha dude this was one of the best videos I've watched haha. I loled at the end when you ended up going with the World of warcraft health bars anyways hahah😂 you got a sub my man
This Felt nice to watch, also made all this feel way more realstic with the ammount of tutorials you used, i love it. made it feel like if i put the work in id be able to do something simular
This was really funny and entertaining. Please keep making more of these videos! Your style of humor is awesome AND I have a sense of how to make a game of my own.
This video absolutely made my day. So much fun to watch, even the dumb parts. Great job making something happen during a not-fun time. This game looks like a ton of fun. Please normalize your audio volume though lol
Oh yeah, I remember this game, I've played it during the voting process and I've even left a comment lol Our entry was kinda incomplete (the idea was too big to make it in a jam) so we only got about to half-way through the leaderboard, let's say we had better entries in other jams. The art style fit perfectly with the theme. If you lose (the end), it's a new beginning (new life created). It's PERFECT
