To see a man get over 150 subscribers on his first video is insane, not only coupled with the fact that if this is your first video ever (not just this channel) it looks like it was made by someone who's worked full time on UA-cam for years. Also, it's surprising to see how well you did in 48 hrs, if it were me, I would barely finish the 3d modeling. Keep up the good work, I think you can create a massive channel with hundreds of thousands of subscribers if you work for it.
I can't even explain how good that makes me feel lol! when I first started making this video I spent a couple weeks editing. Then I realized it was trash and just kinda stopped working on it. However, 2 weeks and one Michael reeves and Dani binge later, I threw out the old edit and started fresh. Dani and Michael Reeves were definitely my 2 biggest inspirations and I glad both of them showed and not just one.
8:08 They made a new version of the AI Navigation system that you have to install via the package manager. It's mostly the same as the old system with NavMeshAgents and whatnot, but you have to create a GameObject and add the NavMeshSurface component and bake the NavMesh from there instead of an editor window like before. I show the basic steps in the video on my channel about Root Motion NavMeshAgents. Great job getting a basic scripted encounter system done without using any AI package though! (oh, and they moved a bunch of stuff to the package manager. The thought was not every game needs a sprite editor, navmesh, etc, so your project doesn't get bloated with stuff you don't need. Also, they wanted to update those packages independently of the editor itself so they can update functionality without you needing to download a whole new editor, but I'm pretty sure they actually stopped doing that too because it caused a weird matrix of dependencies and issues on their end.)
I competely understand. One of my projects that I worked on was a dino fps game. Honestly giving yourself a time limit was a good thing and man it looks fun. I would love to see those other games you were working on.
Hello new youtuber, I am your target audience. Please refer to me for any questions you may have along your journey. Congratulations on completing level 1!
I am a beginner game dev, mainly an artist in blender. Also currently in a game jam currently trying to master animations and such. I really enjoy seeing a beginners process of actually completing something playable. I'm going to try to do the same.
I guess I was one of the few who randomly got this video recommended. Good job! The game looks atmospheric, almost in that 90s animated intro style a bunch of games had, and the production value of the video is also great!
For next time/challenge, if you go under the Window tab and press package manager, then select show packages from registry (instead of in this project) and then search Navigation you should be able to download it and it should pop up where you saw it in the video. Great video btw! You definitely have a lot of potential!!
Coming out of the gate hot with this one my guy. Great video. Please keep making em! Commentary was good, humor was humorous, voice is good, pacing is on point, well written...yadda yadda you get the point. Good job.
I'm glad more developers are trying challenges like this! I did something similar in 72 hours a while back (a horror game) and I ended up releasing it on itch cause it was not too bad :)
Added you to my watch laters because I thought u were one of those already famous game devs. Your thumbnail was pretty eye catching and looks professional. The flow of the video was great, and after watching the full video, my jaw dropped after seeing youre a NEW UA-camR. Like damn bro this was a crazy good first video, I couldnt differentiate you from other already famous game devs. Youre def going places man keep up the great work!
i just clicked on this video because i was bored and wanted an excuse to draw horrifying monsters in my book but you're actually really good at making games. new sub
Amazing video! Literally couldn't believe that this was your first ever video! keep up the good work, game development challenges are always entertaining so this channel could go a long way.
Pls refine this game more the game has so much potential as a horror game the sounds the atmosphere and on top of that the idea of a cramped cave is so good for a horror game if u improve its graphics and work on it more it will become a great horror game
Currently I’m working on a very cool new project however because of all of the comments I’m seeing about revamping the game I’ll probably do that after!
@@BerryCoYT people are telling you to revamp this game because there are many videos like this but all of them are just so basic and not worth the watch sometimes but here you have created a idea that is like " the thing we don't know but needed" that'w why people are telling you to work on it
The ending of the video shocked me, at the end of the video i was like "lets watch this guy's other videos because they are cool and very well made", and at that moment you litterally said "this is the first video of my channel" 😂, continue your content dude its really cool
I have an idea for your next video: Updating the game in 48 or 72 hours challange. Also, for your first video, I will honestly have to say that this is VERY good. Also I love the Dani and particle system reference. You have a lot of chances to become a great UA-camr. Good luck!
Omg I watched the whole video thinking you were a hardened veteran UA-camr, finding out this was your first video was mind blowing, keep up the amazing work man, earned my sub for sure
It would be interesting to see you take a week to polish and add to the game. I kind of like that method for keeping motivated- 2 days for something playable, gauge interest and get feedback, implement feedback in short time, rinse repeat til you have something you are proud of or get bored lol.
This was really cool and I think it turned out surprisingly good espally the monster, I switched from Unity to Godot during the whole original fiasco and honestly I'm glad I did I think its a lot better in many ways, id recommend it but regardless wish you luck wherever your adventure takes you
I almost started the new project I’m working on in unreal however I still decided to stick with Unity. One day I’ll try out some other stuff but right now I’m kinda stuck in my ways. Switching just seems scary. I feel like when I’m comfortable enough with unity then I could try something new.
This is a pretty average horror game dev time I think. Also, just wanna say, this was really good, especially for a first video. You’ve got my attention (and my subscription)
Daamnn, i really like the game. Its a mix of Amnesia The Bunker and a short filme of Del Toro (Cabinet of curiosities) specific of the rats episode (2th ep of the first season)
Awesome video man! I just started learning game dev in godot, I’m hoping to get to your level, and be able to make a game in 48 hours one day! I’ve been working on my current game for 2 weeks and I still haven’t even gotten health to work right lol! But hey, seriously fantastic job! Really enjoyed the video!
I will say, my game is all bells and whistles, and no substance. That’s the reason I have no plans on releasing it unless I fix it up some. Take your time with a game. I’m sure it will turn out great!
@@BerryCoYT for sure! Regardless, having a starting baseline like this is awesome! At this point with your game, it’s all about adding that substance, which I’ve noticed is the fun part. Getting the game to work and having the bottom line, is pretty tough. I could be completely wrong though! I can’t wait to have something with the baseline done just so I can add more fun things to whatever game I end up making! But yes, I’m planning to use this year to learn, then next year see how much I’ve learned! Thank you for the motivation, keep doing what you’re doing! You’re REALLY good at it! Not only can you develop games, but knowing blender like you do is very impressive!
Wow, This blew up. I'm honestly not surprised. Your video quality is good and I thought this was made by a big youtuber and got shocked seeing you only have 1.41k subs!! Remember me when you're famous🙏😅
this video was very good, I made a game similar to this like 1 years ago, there were episodes consisting of vhs tapes, in the first tape we were in the sewer and we were running away from the rat man and in the second from the werewolf int the forest, but unfortunately I had to delete the files before I could publish the game
I have a little bit of lore of the monster: What if. The monster was some type of dinosaur millions of years ago. And when the asteroid hit. It blew of the remaining ones skull skin and legs off?
watching this gives me a lot of confidence as someone who can code and wants to make games but has little artistic talent. i feel like lots of the solo dev youtubers out there are kind of experts in everything, or at least jacks in every trade, but your drawings look almost as bad as mine (no offense) and you made a cool game out of them!

And over 30.000 views

Great job, continue making youtube videos!
No this is the best editing I’ve seen you yet bruh should have 1 million subs

Your idea is really good for a horor game especially for a VR game

I actually really like the style, neo-retroism seems like a good way to describe it. Excited for anything you make in the future!
