Brain Fog & Depression? Leaky Gut May Be The Cause

  • There is no question that a connection between the gut and the brain exists. Studies involving IBS, leaky gut, intestinal infection, and celiac disease all display symptoms of either depression, anxiety, brain fog or all three. Older patients can experience more severe symptoms like psychological distress while younger patients may experience hyperactivity and social dysfunction when faced with gut issues.
What can we do to resolve these symptoms? A common place to start is improving the diet. Depending on the issue you are dealing with, you may try a paleo diet or low FODMAP diet. Your practitioner can help you identify the best route. Next try pairing diet with exercise and stress lowering activities. Add probiotics to the mix. The addition of probiotics would most likely yield the most benefit. Try different categories of probiotics to see what works for you. If you are not sure what to try, there is a probiotic protocol here in Healthy Gut, Healthy You.

I’ve learned that where I live, the fastest way to have your doctor look at you like you’re an idiot is to mention “brain fog” or “leaky gut”. It’s hard to get treatment when zero doctors here won’t even admit that either is a thing

I scheduled a visit with a neurologist because I have been suffering from chronic brain fog. After blood work, MRI my results are normal. The doctor stated that I suffer from anxiety and all that I must focus harder. I am suffering with brain fog and dont know what to do.

@@himanshu-nl4yi No I remain the same. At first I thought I was poisoned until I started to read. To be honest It may have something to do with the gut and being inactive for a long period of time. I am not to active like i was due to knee surgeries and not sweating and working out. I have tried everything, TMS therapy, eating vegetables and taking boat loads of vitamins and probiotics. Nothing worked. I dont know what to say brother. Not a good feeling.

I think you should look into a functional medicine doctor. I gave all the same symptoms to my regular doctor and they told me I had to brush and anxiety and just prescribed me antidepressant and I never got better. Ever since I went to this functional medicine place called route cars which is a nationwide facility I have been feeling much better I am still not 100% by any means but I feel like I am on track to get my life back. Now that doesn’t mean you don’t have to pression or anxiety because I messed up gut can both cars those but you’re not gonna heal it without healing your gut

Hi I have bloating and have to go to wee and ...every time when I am in a place that is not my home and around people. If I try to hold it and not go to WC, I start feeling dizzy and I faint. Or I have a panic attack. Now I am taking paxil 40 mg and I can go almost everywhere. I eat healthy food for some time and than I lose my mind I eat a huge amount of sugar. Any, even pure white sugar. After this I feel very guilty. It happens like 1x 2x a month. Then it comes back ro normal. Whats wrong witb me😢

I recently started to see a functional medicine dr that did all kinds of tests and found out I have leaky gut. I went to them because ive felt hungover every single day for like the past 3-4 months and I was tired of my normal Dr just prescribing me depression medicine. I’ve been seeing them for over a month now but I don’t really feel that much better, however after my elimination diet, I don’t have those really bad days, which I think is a plus, but my normal day to day living is still “foggy”. So my question is, how long does it take to heal a leaky gut? Is it a couple months? Should I have been feeling better by now?

It really does vary. Sometimes progress can feel slow, but for long term healing the wait is worth it. That said, if it doesn't feel like you're making progress at all there may be other options out there for you. You may find this article helpful: drruscio.com/how-to-heal-leaky-gut/

I think he’s trying to help people. The question is, what’s causing the ‘leaky gut’ ? Could it be the pharmaceutical drugs that are prescribed by doctors ?
