I cook with curcumin and turmeric. And didn’t really know the health benefits of these. I only get low to moderate doses. Good gut health can also come from fermented vegetables ie such as sauerkraut and pickles. Just my opinion. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your comment! Agreed, fermented foods are a must (unless you’re histamine intolerant).
Explaining basic concepts the way that you do enables me to easily grasp the advanced ones. I now feel empowered to try curcumin because I better understand how it works. Thank you for that!
Thank you so much for your wonderful compliment. So happy to help!
I’ve been making and taking turmeric paste for many years and definitely notice when I miss a few days. It’s very inexpensive to make and I just mix it in a small glass of orange juice.
Would you be able to send a link of the actual happy medium brands to make sure the right product of curcumin
Appreciate this video. I stopped curcumin for some reason but I will begin again as I do have gut issues and autoimmune therefore the infamous inflammation!
Big thank you from Spain.
Thanks for another interesting video;) I only use fresh turmeric, in a homemade ginger tea about twice a week. Is that quantity and the fact that it's fresh, enough to gain benefits? Should I have it daily for instance or rather go for supplements? Thanks
Fantastic video and information!!. Just adding to my list of amazing supplements to help my gut. Thank you
Fantastic video!! Definitely going to give this a try. Do you have a recommendation for a liquid or Liposomal one? I have trouble swallowing large pills and all the ones I have seen are massive.
Great video and I like how you provide all the sources for the information. Thanks so much!
My pleasure!
If I prefer to take turmeric rather than the curcumin isolate, what dosage would you recommend for gut health (leeky gut)? I put the powdered form in my smoothies.
Would you recommend taking curcumin rather than turmeric? I have always favored turmeric because it contains many different curcuminoids.
IF you get very dry eyes, laughing all day long for no reason, overstimulation from Quercetin, Curcumin, Turmeric, Ginger, You may have a Slow MAO Gene like me. I have to avoid it along with lots of methylated protien due to Overmethylation. Willow bark seems to be better for me along with antinflamatory high dose Niacinamide, Benfotiamin, Fish oil and A good seeking health Multivitamin.
Overstimulation from Quercitin could also be due to slow COMT.
Thanks so much for sharing this - it’s definitely important to consider personal (and potential) sensitivities when supplementing
You say laughing all day long like it's a bad thing? 😅
@@cyeamaculture8486😂
Dry eyes and laughing all day? Sounds like you're on the weed
What about the liquid form
Dr Ruscio thanks for your videos they have really helped with my problem.
I have problems with bloating and gut pain that triggers ectopic beats and sometimes AFIB which has got worse after too long on restricted diets(fodmap/carnivore), I have in the last week added more foods and spices and seen some improvement , have you done any work on gastrocardiac syndrome ? if not could you look at this it would be great to hear your opinion.
Should we mix turmeric with black pepper?
Great video about ...🤔!?
Let me put it this way I'm a strong believer that "the body knows best" and that natural products have a better absorption than processed ones. Which leads me to what I missed in your great video about Tumeric? Curcuma?Curcumin? If one tries to go out and buy some sort of supplement containing cucumin we're on a ride to figure out price, quality and efficacy without even knowing if the "good" stuff is really in it.
In my understanding if I buy 100g of organic grown tumeric rhizome/root chances are that I have pure natural 5000mg curcumin (the good stuff) in it. Now the only question is how should I intake this ?
It should be better absorbed by my body (specially with my curry lol) and it's a lot cheaper than the confusing trip through the supplement jungle out there.
I wonder if there are some clinical trials/studies with the natural stuff...let's feed a few people with huge amounts of curry for 12 months and compare them with another group with placebo and supplements. 😁
Thank you @DrRuscioDC
Super information! Thanks. It was interesting about it being as good as omeprazole in the trial because I will try it as soon as I get off that med. I am on ketovore but I get dry eye too. I have acid reflux so I just sprinkled some turmeric from a spice jar into my electrolyte drink. Going in for an endoscopy tho :)
Hope it helps you!
Great video doctor 👍
Please can i consume tumeric if i have digestive issues and feacal impactation?
For impaction look at health for pancreas and gall bladder. Also look for magnesium. Start watching videos about insulin resistence as well. Plus also digestive enzymes. All of these helped my issue
Very informative video. Do you think it would help with miocardites?
It’s certainly possible, but not sure what circumin content would amount to a therapeutic dose.
I have heard of someone who got liver damage after taking curcumin capsules. Have no details but it made me sceptical although I loved to take it for many health reasons :-/
That's only from black pepper formulas, take 3rd generation ones and no issues
Do you have an episode about the benefits of ginger?
We’ve covered it in a few videos but it hasn’t gotten a video of its own yet. Is that something you’d like to see on the channel?
Yes that would be great!
Does curcumin show benefits for depression as well as anxiety?
I stopped turmeric a # of years back because I found it made my stomach feel unsettled but have recently started again using a different product called Theracurmin by Natural Factors. Dr Ruscio, I’m confused because Natural Factors’ Theracurmin recommends only 30-60mg/day (equivalent to 1-2 capsules). Do you think this is adequate based on the information you’ve provided? I deal with anxiety, had leaky gut 4 years ago and have currently begun experiencing resolution of pelvic pain following a laparoscopic appendectomy 14 months ago which I believe Theracurmin and Acupuncture may be positively assisting with. Thank you in advance for any thoughts you may offer 🙏
Thank you very much
You are welcome!
Turmeric is a problem, curcumin is not.
Turmeric, with the active ingredient curcumin, has a relatively high content of oxalate, estimated at 1969 mg oxalate per 100 grams of turmeric.
Curcumin has good data that it chelates and/or blocks iron absorbtion. So depending on iron status it can be beneficial or detrimental.
Yes very true it’s like a double edged sword ! I didn’t know curcumin chelates iron I thought it was just turmeric all together. I thought pure extracted curcumin supplements were better to take 🤔 I guess not 🙏
Nobody EVER would ingest 100g of turmeric at a time. That’s a silly number.
@@Sourpusscandy Nobody said to ingest 100g of tormeric at a time, but taking 10g/day would add up pretty fast for people with oxalate problems. You're a silly person :))
Thank you for this insight!
Longvida Tumeric is the Only one proven to reach the brain 🧠 abd has high bioavailability. i feel the difference in terms of aching more with compared to others
I’m so glad it helps you! Thanks for commenting about this.
That's incorrect, many 2nd and 3 gen formulas can do that, just longvida does it a bit better
So don’t recommend turmeric for therapeutic dose?
Its scary iron lowering effects make me skeptical of using turmeric. It can also be detrimental to anyone who has digestive issues that is already having trouble absorbing nutrients since it might be chelating more iron from their bodies 🙏❤️
That’s a very good insight. Thanks for sharing!
I'm sold lmao
This came across my mind, it seems like vitamin supplements have not been around a long time. Would there be any negative side effects or damage caused by taking vitamins long term? Or do we simply not know because vitamin supplements have not been around that long...
A better question is
Is better to take it
Than not taking it?
Hello sir , i am suffering from candida following keto + garlic + ginger
My inflammation are reducing day by day but somedays there is sudden high inflammation which goes down after few hours
Why is this happening?
Keto is super bad if its not plant based
