Hello, is the external battery safe to drive with during rain? I use my scooter for daily commuting and sometimes there's no choice but to drive while it's raining, which makes me worry that an external battery is a bad idea for my use. Also, my use of the stock battery sometimes causes overheating during long drives as I modified the firmware to draw more current for hill climbing. Does the RITA adapter evenly distribute the load between two batteries or does it always drain the external one first? I'd just like to know if I should opt for the 12s battery pack over the 10s. Hi, 1. I would say it is safe to ride during rain if your battery is packed and sealed well. My batteries are good enough. 2. Rita drains a single higher voltage battery first. Then, when batteries voltages are equal, the current is shared between batteries. A 10s external battery is the best choice for you, becase it operates together with the internal battery all the time, while a 12s battery must be discharged by 50% before its voltage drops to 41-42V to start operating together with the interbal one.

Thanks! Not sure that I will release it soon, because I have a lot of work. Generally, for 48 volts battery you have to 1. Upgrade the controller for higher voltage support. 2. Cut 12s+ jumper at Rita and then connect it regular way. Hi, stock motor is fine. Most of "350W" motors you can see at the market are mega shit. You know, you can go to a shop and buy a 1.5L milk instead of 1L. But it does not work with motors at all, it's not enough to just compare 250 vs 350, there are many other parameters and especially quality.

The main idea of Rita adapter is to be able to connect 36V and 48 batteries together. The answers is: yes, you can connect 36V and 48V batteries in parallel using my Rita device.

Hey I just ordered an extra battery to do this but now found out that the one I ordered can’t be charged in parallel with the xiaomi, it has to be charged separate - can’t be charged thru discharge wires. Yes, but sometimes it's not easy to flash this model. Check if you are able to flash it first. Nevertheless, if you can't - you can still use 10s(36V) batteries with Rita. But you must flash the scooter for higher voltage batteries
Hello, I was able to send parcel to the UK 2 weeks ago, but for now there are some difficults due to COVID and BREXIT. Hope the troubles will dissapear in a few weeks since the UK and EU arranged the trading deal.
If the external battery is a common port BMS equipped(one couple of wires for both charging and discharging), then it may be charged via the scooter charging port together with the internal one. If the external battery is a separate port BMS equipped(with a dedicated charging port), then it is not safe to charge batteries together, because Rita charges an external battery via its discharge port, while a separate port BMS is not able to interrupt charging at its discharge port, which may be dangerous. Another thing is the battery must be a 36V one, otherwise original charger will not able to charge it, and you need a new higher voltage charger
iam used the original m365 battery and an additional 36V 10Ah battery(liitokala) for around a year. The charging time with the original xiaomi charger for both connected was 6 - 8 hours. If you use a cheap China charger, as is usually included with cheap China Batteries it can really take 12 - 16 hours+ I don't know how Rita affects the loading time, iam using the 12s now. greets :)
Maybe you explained it in the video but do you need to recharge the external battery separately or do you use the usual battery charging hole and it charges both at the same time ?

@@Saidifect These new BLE sometimes require flashing by a programmer, not by air. Range boost kit is plug and play, not requireing flashing. Flashing will not make it increase speed. Range+speed kit requires flashing.
Hi Dennis. What is the most hassle free way of doing this? The 10s kit will charge with original charger, show correct battery state while driving and while charging? I don't care about top speed, its illegal here in Sweden anyway, I don't want to risk getting stopped. I only want extra range.
Was this added in series or in parallel . Trying to get my wires right . + & - to the correct side coming out of the controller . I think the controller shod have a +&- so with two batteries to add power you have one battery’s + from one battery and - from the other battery going to the controller. Then the + & - that’s left gos together. Is that right. I’ve got a 36v am adding iver 12v or 8v battery. To add power to 42or48v . Plus I think I will need to use a relay so it will work when the 12or 8v is switched off. As I do plan on having it as a Opp and not all the time running that type of power. One more thing not sure what u think about controllers. But I think it’s better to over power the controller as if it’s a 48v one there is a low V cut off. So it cuts off at 38v.
Hi, yes, it works, but you have to ensure you are able to flash your scooter: the thing is the newest scooters are protected against installing a custom firmware and not hacked yet.

Hi! 1. If you want to replace the internal battery to another 36V one without special Xiaomi data connector - you have to flash the scooter to let it accept batteries with no data line. 2. If you want to connect an external 36V battery, using the Y-cable mod - you have to flash the scooter to avoid wrong switching to the charging mode when current flows between batteries. 3. If you connect an external battery throught Rita - no flashing is required, you just plug and ride.
Hi Dennis, I have an essential scooter and just received Rita 4gen. But now I’m aware of my 10s4p battery is with two different cables. One for charging and one for discharging (usage). Not with a common port BMS. 1) Will I be able to use that battery with Rita 4gen securely if I ensure to disconnect external battery when charging. Hi! 1. The most convenient way for your separate port bms equipped battery is to leave two Rita charging lines not connected. That allows you to keep the external battery connected during charging, and just plug 2 chargers at the same time. Check more information in the user manual is "Batteries charging" section - public.embedden.com/Rita/Docs/English/rita_manual_latest_en.pdf 2. Generally, in theory, it may be unsafe, because recovery current goes to an external battery via its discharge port, which can not be disabled by a separate port bms. But in real world this situation is almost unreacheable, because recovery current is not too much to overcharge a battery. Even original Xiaomi battery works this way.

Hi, first of all you have to flash a custom firmware, like XiaoDash or ScooterHacking. Then, the cheapest and simplest hardware upgrade solution is mounting an external battery in parallel using an Y-cable. Rita is not essential for your purpose if you are ready to spend some time to discover the topic. Or you can just buy the "Range boost kit", it is plug and ride.

Hi, with the 48V 14Ah battery your range will get multiplied by x1.8, like you had 50km, and it will become 90km. In your setup the 48V battery will supply the scooter until it is 42V(almost empty, like 10% left) Then all 3 batteries will work together until the voltage is 39V(empty 48V battery, it will be turned off by its bms) Then your 2 batteries operate like you never plugged the 48V one.

As expected, the scooter cannot take me home, as the battery is not large enough and it drains before I get home. Hi, no, Rita is not compatible with your scooter. But you can buy my 10s battery and bag, connecting it via an y-cable, like I mentioned in the video, it will work fine.
You can do it if both batteries are 10s(36V) If at least one of your batteries is a higher voltage one, then you need a higher voltage charger to charge it.
Yes, you can use an internal 48V battery without data lines via Rita. Just don't forget to set Rita properly(set 13 to the "Internal battery serial configuration" parameter) and cut the green jumper

The Rita limitation is that internal battery voltage must be less or equal then the external one. 48V internal battery is 13s, so you can use it together with a 13s, 14s or 15s external one. We don't sell 13s external batteries, so if you want to by in my shop, the perfect choice is 12s internal + 12s external.

@@DenisYurev damn they're too expensive, but it's disappointing that today I went for a ride less than 10 kilometers (even though its meant to support 20) and I ended up walking on my way home because it was only one blinking red bar and I live in a hilly area, meaning that with the slow acceleration* it wasn't gonna do sh*t. I'm hoping that tomorrow will be better because the temperature Wont be cold at all like today which was like 9° Celsius (and I've heard the colder the temperature, the shorter the battery lasts). They are "balanced" like they would connected via 2 diodes. The higher voltage battery is discharged first, until the batteries voltages are equal, then they are being discharged together "in parallel"

The latest Rita generation is equipped with a feature, which allows to avoid flashing the controller when using a higher voltage external battery together with the original internal battery. You need a battery with a common charge and discharge port to be able to charge it via Rita. Separate port will also work, but there is a risk of overcharge, because this separate charge port bms is not able to interrupt charging on discharge output You can leave it as is, and be very careful, understanding that there is a real risk of fire Or you can replace it's BMS to a common port one: aliexpress.com/item/32875971231.html Or another option is to charge the external battery separately via it's charging port, not using Rita for distribution charging current from a scooter charge port. In that case you don't use Rita charge plugs at all. You should connect the scooter charging port directly to the original internal battery(as it was connected from a factory), and if you connect it like this the charging current from the scooter charging port will not go to the external battery via its discharge port. Regarding your question: there is no need to charge the external battery separately if the battery is purchased in my store, because it is equipped with a proper "Common port" BMS.

Hi. Original power wires are 16AWG 200° silicone. Rita power wires are 16AWG, except the external battery one, which is 14AWG. Original power plug is xt30. Data wires are regular common ones. Data plug is jst pap-03v-s

Hi, stock motor is fine. Most of "350W" motors you can see at the market are mega shit. You know, you can go to a shop and buy a 1.5L milk instead of 1L. But it does not work with motors at all, it's not enough to just compare 250 vs 350, there are many other parameters and especially quality.

The main idea of Rita adapter is to be able to connect 36V and 48 batteries together. The answers is: yes, you can connect 36V and 48V batteries in parallel using my Rita device.

Hey I just ordered an extra battery to do this but now found out that the one I ordered can’t be charged in parallel with the xiaomi, it has to be charged separate - can’t be charged thru discharge wires. Yes, but sometimes it's not easy to flash this model. Check if you are able to flash it first. Nevertheless, if you can't - you can still use 10s(36V) batteries with Rita. But you must flash the scooter for higher voltage batteries

How is that with the charging of the battery? Is it charged with the original charger or must the spare battery be charged separately?
If the external battery is a common port BMS equipped(one couple of wires for both charging and discharging), then it may be charged via the scooter charging port together with the internal one. If the external battery is a separate port BMS equipped(with a dedicated charging port), then it is not safe to charge batteries together, because Rita charges an external battery via its discharge port, while a separate port BMS is not able to interrupt charging at its discharge port, which may be dangerous.
Another thing is the battery must be a 36V one, otherwise original charger will not able to charge it, and you need a new higher voltage charger
Whats the load time of the two batteries (36v two times) is than 18h
iam used the original m365 battery and an additional 36V 10Ah battery(liitokala) for around a year.
The charging time with the original xiaomi charger for both connected was 6 - 8 hours.
If you use a cheap China charger, as is usually included with cheap China Batteries it can really take 12 - 16 hours+
I don't know how Rita affects the loading time, iam using the 12s now.

Was this added in series or in parallel . Trying to get my wires right . + & - to the correct side coming out of the controller . I think the controller shod have a +&- so with two batteries to add power you have one battery’s + from one battery and - from the other battery going to the controller. Then the + & - that’s left gos together. Is that right. I’ve got a 36v am adding iver 12v or 8v battery. To add power to 42or48v
. Plus I think I will need to use a relay so it will work when the 12or 8v is switched off. As I do plan on having it as a Opp and not all the time running that type of power. One more thing not sure what u think about controllers. But I think it’s better to over power the controller as if it’s a 48v one there is a low V cut off. So it cuts off at 38v.

Hi, yes, it works, but you have to ensure you are able to flash your scooter: the thing is the newest scooters are protected against installing a custom firmware and not hacked yet.

1. If you want to replace the internal battery to another 36V one without special Xiaomi data connector - you have to flash the scooter to let it accept batteries with no data line.
2. If you want to connect an external 36V battery, using the Y-cable mod - you have to flash the scooter to avoid wrong switching to the charging mode when current flows between batteries.
3. If you connect an external battery throught Rita - no flashing is required, you just plug and ride.

But now I’m aware of my 10s4p battery is with two different cables. One for charging and one for discharging (usage). Not with a common port BMS.
1) Will I be able to use that battery with Rita 4gen securely if I ensure to disconnect external battery when charging. And ensure external battery is charged using external charger?
2: The essential charges batteries in running mode when I brake. Will this setup damage something when using an external battery without a common port BMS using Rita 4gen?

1. The most convenient way for your separate port bms equipped battery is to leave two Rita charging lines not connected. That allows you to keep the external battery connected during charging, and just plug 2 chargers at the same time. Check more information in the user manual is "Batteries charging" section - public.embedden.com/Rita/Docs/English/rita_manual_latest_en.pdf
2. Generally, in theory, it may be unsafe, because recovery current goes to an external battery via its discharge port, which can not be disabled by a separate port bms. But in real world this situation is almost unreacheable, because recovery current is not too much to overcharge a battery. Even original Xiaomi battery works this way.

Hi, first of all you have to flash a custom firmware, like XiaoDash or ScooterHacking. Then, the cheapest and simplest hardware upgrade solution is mounting an external battery in parallel using an Y-cable. Rita is not essential for your purpose if you are ready to spend some time to discover the topic. Or you can just buy the "Range boost kit", it is plug and ride.

Hi, with the 48V 14Ah battery your range will get multiplied by x1.8, like you had 50km, and it will become 90km.
In your setup the 48V battery will supply the scooter until it is 42V(almost empty, like 10% left)
Then all 3 batteries will work together until the voltage is 39V(empty 48V battery, it will be turned off by its bms)
Then your 2 batteries operate like you never plugged the 48V one.

Hi, no you can't. The Rita limitation is that internal battery voltage must be less or equal then the external one. 48V internal battery is 13s, so you can use it together with a 13s, 14s or 15s external one.
We don't sell 13s external batteries, so if you want to by in my shop, the perfect choice is 12s internal + 12s external.

They are "balanced" like they would connected via 2 diodes. The higher voltage battery is discharged first, until the batteries voltages are equal, then they are being discharged together "in parallel"

The latest Rita generation is equipped with a feature, which allows to avoid flashing the controller when using a higher voltage external battery together with the original internal battery.
You need a battery with a common charge and discharge port to be able to charge it via Rita.
Separate port will also work, but there is a risk of overcharge, because this separate charge port bms is not able to interrupt charging on discharge output
You can leave it as is, and be very careful, understanding that there is a real risk of fire
Or you can replace it's BMS to a common port one: aliexpress.com/item/32875971231.html
Or another option is to charge the external battery separately via it's charging port, not using Rita for distribution charging current from a scooter charge port. In that case you don't use Rita charge plugs at all. You should connect the scooter charging port directly to the original internal battery(as it was connected from a factory), and if you connect it like this the charging current from the scooter charging port will not go to the external battery via its discharge port.
Regarding your question: there is no need to charge the external battery separately if the battery is purchased in my store, because it is equipped with a proper "Common port" BMS.

Hi. Original power wires are 16AWG 200° silicone. Rita power wires are 16AWG, except the external battery one, which is 14AWG. Original power plug is xt30. Data wires are regular common ones. Data plug is jst pap-03v-s
