I think this series is going to teach me a lot about monsters that I have yet to fight for myself, having started in 5th Gen. Previously it was Iodrome’s health, and today it’s that Green Congalala is notorious for being extra stinky. Looking forward to more lessons to come.
As a 5th Gen Hunter myself, I was glad that I played GU, 3U, and 4U. There were just so many monsters I was missing out on! Out of this whole list, I think there were only like 10 that I couldn’t rank because they are stuck on games with no official online support. (RIP 3U and 4U online though) I hope you can at the very least play Generations Ultimate. Currently it is the oldest Monster Hunter game to have officially supported online and will be playable on the Switch successor. The main things you’d be missing out on are some Elder Dragons, underwater fights for monsters like Lagiacrus and Plesioth, and the proper introduction of Gore Magala/Shagaru Magala.

If we get basarios and gravios, I kind of want them to not have the heating up mechanic. Every monster seams to have an attack where, either mid animation or after it, you can do a focus strike without a wound, Make that a thing for the belly explosions. I do love the mimic comparison. Yes, but his pappa also shits horse tranquilizer. Joking aside, I do appreciate that the sleep gas is easily explained as being like volcanic gas, carbon monoxide is terrifying. I do also like the idea of the rock wyverns with the tigrex shape, a shame these guys came before that shape existed and also a shame that we have so few monsters using said skeleton. Yes, the cocaine bear. That's perfect. I just find it odd to have a monster who is a pack leader have a subspecies where the pack is gone. Why? That said, he's not the worst offender, that's baleful gigginox, for a whole host of reasons. I'm still very sad that Wilds seams to have just copied stuff from Generations and ignored 1 of the best things Rise ever did. Aurora was a sacrifices to someday make aerial glaive shine, it has a sweeping beam that will move upr or down, mid way, as it goes over ledges. Just have that for more attacks to counter IG's mid air shenanigans and then the devs don't have to be cowards, either making aerial IG weak or nonexistent. In the black gravios comment I forgot about his beam uppercut move. That move is pretty cool. He kind of does the beam under his head and then sweeps it's up at you twice taht can make this death cone combo. Nightshade's moveset changes were always nice and fun. Easy to have sleep res or some energy drinks on hand to deal with him. I like how his attacks can move the sleep clouds. When you first fight him, maybe not having much master rank gear yet because you want to keep your meta arch tempered armor, his spin charge from the fog is terrifying. Also funny that, in his intro, he just knocks you out before leaving. I just get 1 good look at him before passing out.
Noooo Plesiothhhh!!! We're left with one Piscine Wyvern standing and it's just day 2, truly tragic. Ruby Basarios getting the exact same placement just like Gendrome is hilarious, I hope there's more monsters that did that.

@@Andrew-hz5zc The W.C.H.O has made incredible progress in just 3 days. With 5 members and lots more propaganda spread we are making great leaps in terms of preventing comment section wide colds. If we keep up this pace I’m sure we can archive anything.
From the four editions of Plesioth i fought, none was nearly as bad as some people widely claim the monster to be. Hipcheck is easily i-framable, you can stand between his legs to hit them and the belly, jet beam attack is free damage for you if you're close. The only bad (bad) things are having to fish/sonic bomb him out of the water, and the tail hitboxes on his spin attack

fun Basarios fact: there's an unused texture for Basarios in Monster Hunter G that's like, two shades lighter with no other changes. We could've had that as a Basarios Subspecies instead. Some of y'all don't realize what you have 😭
I feel like I'm one of the VERY few people that actually like Zorah Magdaros. Aside from his fight being bad and or boring, Zorah is a really decent mountain elder dragon when compared to something like lao y'know? I'm not gonna go super in depth as to why i love Zorah Magdaros, it's just that he has some incredible top notch lore. He's just an old, big, red snapping turtle elder dragon 🥹 You know what's also big and red? A Christmas hat! I love Christmas hats :3 (Especially when my favourite comfort monster viper Tobi-kadachi is wearing it

This fucker made me triple cart the first time, because he continued to stun me. And that created a sort of rivalry between me and this little fucker. Plus, learning that i could hit him with the hammer and make him hit a wall was one of my favourite experience in the games. In my heart his a 4/5, but alas both the official comunity and the channel comunity spoke. Not that I don't get their points.

Oh, forgot to put this in the main comment, but here would be my respective rankings for the next bit: 144. Gypceros - an annoyance of a monster, nothing I enjoy here 143. Purple Gypceros - fought it less, so was annoyed by it slightly less 142. Black Diablos - not even a proper subspecies and never bloody stops moving! 141. Lavasioth - only faced the World version, and it was both a chore to fight and easy to forget 140. Kushala Daora - so much waiting on the winds to just stop to get close to it in 4U, and all the issues it had in World too 139. Gendrome - another basic raptor, with a status ailment I hated in 4U 138. Apex Rathian - a knockoff of another monster, no armor to speak of and was not a fight I found enjoyable 137. Apex Arzuros - an introduction to a whole crap subcategory of monsters, with little I found better than the base version 136. Wind Serpent Ibushi - some interesting ideas, but falls flat in too many aspects 135. Great Jaggi - a bland tutorial raptor monster, that may have some potential in later titles
On ruby basarios. When he comes back they should change it to gemstone basarios and have it be on every map with different colors and different elements/statuses.
Tbh the enraged MHGU Lavasioth slide is one of the most horrifying, panic-inducing moves I've ever had to deal with in Monster Hunter (in a positive way).
Yeah that is true, don't know why people complain about the hips when the tail could easily knock you out *cold* from literally a *season* away. I love viper Tobi-kadachi especially when he's wearing something cute on his head.
I can’t say that I found any of the placements this time to be incredibly egregious or anything that seemed like robbery. Though I have to say I knew Zora was going be much lower than how he ranked in the official poll, but I am honestly surprised he was not in the bottom twenty. Still, I am rather delighted to see that even if a monster isn’t exactly popular or liked, they still have some people in their corner, yes - even you Plesioth, because I like you, too.
Sad to see none of my comments read yet, but I also didn't care about most of these guys that much. It was a lot of "this is just another monster but harder, -1 of what I gave the original", which isn't very interesting. Really hope my comments for Tobi-Kadachi(favorite) and Kushala Daora(most despised) make it in once we get to them though.
Im bored so im gonna rate the wilds monsters: Doshaguma 3.7/5 Great intro monster alongside chatacabra, fun to pop wounds when enraged, cool earthquake attack. Chatacabra 2.8/5 Somewhat outshined by his fellow tutoriel monster but his gimmic is interesting. Balahara 3.8/5 Doshaguma is a more challanging fight, but bala's visual design is rad so he gets the edge. Rey Dau 4.7/10 The lightning rail cannon monster. Need i say more? The other monsters will be rated without decimals since i havent fought them yet: Quematrice 2/5 Looks a bit Goofy without having any atributes that compliment that. Lala barina 4/5 I like athropod monsters in general and the rose theme is gorgeous. Uth duna 5/5 Great design, the water waves are a cool elemental interaction and it reminds me of namielle. Rompopolo 3/5 A high 3 for this one, the concept is very distict and it adds some needes variety to the brute wyvern catagory. Ajarakan 3/5 He looks like if you injected a statue from a chinese temple with an obsene amount of steroids, cool monster. Black flame: 5/5 A lovechild between nakarkos and gogmazios, what else could you possibly want? For arkveld and one other monster, i will refer to the datamine leaks to explain my thoughts. So do not read the rest of the comment to not get spoiled. Just know that i rate both a 5. SPOILERS IN 3 2 1 Arkveld 5/5 A monster stealing elements from other monster to fight with is super creative and lets the fight have some more replay value. Being an artificial lifeform that escaped is also an awsome concept, which also applies to the other guardians. And you cant go wrong with the wing whips, cool they brought that over from frontier. Final boss: Zotia 5/5 The equal dragon weapons concept has finally been realised, a semiorganic superweapon is a dope concept and i cannot wait to fight it!
What I like about aurora somnacanth is that the original is the only rise monster not based on a yokai and aurora does become yokai inspired. I can't remember what it is but it's the same thing froslass is based on. You can tell by the freezing of prey before consumption
Man, I thought Velocidrome would be higher because of Nostalgia. I think the biggest sin here though is Plesioth. Sure he's awful on land, but that underwater fight is uniroincally great. Hope regular Gravios does a lot better than his subspecies. I understand why many don't like fighting a rock, but the satisfaction of breaking his parts throughout the hunt and gradually having the fight snowball in your favor is something not really any other monsters have replicated.
@linfa_mh I seriously can't tell if everyone likes Great Jaggi because of memes or because they unironically like him that much lol. How does he get so much praise for his fight? He has like 4 moves, and half of them don't even knock you down when you're using moves that have super armor. At least the dromes could actually launch you if you got hit by their jumps. I don't get it lol. Here's hoping the Snow Shark survives at least a few more videos!

My guess is that probably a lot of people have nostalgia for it since Great Jaggi is the first monster of MH3, which is one of the most iconic games that started the journey of many hunters (or at least before World). Monster Hunter Tri's monsters in general are very special and nostalgic and Great Jaggi is also one of the only monsters that didn't appear in GU, World and Rise.
@@linfa_mh Great Jaggi takes Velocidromes concept and while it doesn’t grant it many new moves it’s personality and design are just far superior. Come to think of it a lot of the most iconic monsters really are in 3rd gen. Except Great Baggi. Poor Great Baggi.

He blows 200 - Hallowed Jhen Morhan Imaginary technique: Purple 199 - Sha Dalamadur Orange snek 198/197 - Spray painted Rathian and Rathalos But if you close your eyes, it does feel like nothing changed at all. 196 - Zorah Magdaros Slow and Steady doesn't win the race. 195 - Aurora Somnacanth You're a frigging disappointment - Soldier Boy 194 - Ebony Odogaron Pomni! I snorted a substantial amount of dragon energy. And I'm starting to feel the impacts.
Ill add a comment here i didnt make on the uragaan poll. I loved this guy in tri, he was new, cool and tough as hell. I remember playing on the wii servers and i would often be the only hammer/impact in the group. Getting kos on him felt great cause i knew i was doing my job. If i ever got the chin break i felt like a god. Modern day I think rado is just cooler
day two! people liked my last one so here is my tldr on each monster for today Basarios. i really like him and his dad alot, awesome ecology and concept and good fights too super unique for the time especially . i hope him and Gravios return 4/5 Apex arz. i think the base bear is meh, and has always been mid. and apex doesnt make him any better and takes away his one thing he has, his cuteness and not in a cool paria into supremacy thing, hes like lazy edgy the way people think Ra Ro is (they are wrong about that btw) 1/5 copper is the first really unique Sub and has really great ecology mainly due to base being great already, he goes hard 4/5 E.conga. hes above average for the time but really falls off due to time i dont think he looks good and this is coming from a green enjoyer 2/5 Zorah is... a shame. hes cool so cool in concept but bro his fight is just a spectacle like genuinely it couldve been a 5 min cutscene and i think nothing would be different overall in fact probably better. and the fact they spent almost all of world just making him on the side trying to make something but they just couldnt do it right at all even AT is a Snore 2/5 Blue yian. i like blue more as a color but still the same as base and base ahs had alot more love and become alot more unqiue so over all worse 2/5 plesi is a monster i think can only be described as legendary. and ill say it his fight isnt bad all things said and done janky but still fun in a messuped way. i love how he looks i love what he does and man he is so funny i want him back so so so much especially with underwater 4/5 Uragaan is a perfectly great monster, especially in frontier and tri he is so much fun, but his design is just kinda not great due to the chin and not great texturing 3/5 ruby is a monster that means almost nothing to me, and fills like just filler and doesnt expand on basa or gravi. not bad just kinda bland 2/5 Aurora somna is sad. like the concept art looks incredible and they dont expand her at all and just ends up being a more samey somna which sucks cus somna is amazing 2/5 voli is the only bear before rise and wilds that was really good, i love him his geara, ecology and design and his rise icon is amazing 4/5 apex rathian is a better design then dread queen and a better fight too but still just kinda okay over all. 2/5 i hate rathalos, like objectively hes a great monster but me and him have beef, like he harasses me for no reason and never gives me good drops, and there fore azure is also a hated monster, awful sub and there isnt even a rise version to save him. and im dont even like to imply hes a flagship cus hes fucking not 0/5 Black gravios is phenomenal, a even cooler gravi in every way and small changes make it notable so yeah 4/5 velocidrome is a monster, the first monster you fight and it isnt very great cept in the first game... hes okay i loved seeing his babies come back tho 2/5 NS pao is a monster that inconcept is like awesome but like zenith inagami spams sleep though unlike zenith ina you cant get chain locked or can get a imunity (fuck Z inagami's fight z sleep is awful) anyway yeah hes fine just kinda anoying 2/5
Honestly, I think that zorah is Honestly wasted potential. Such a cool monster to have such a bad fight. I think zorah could have been either more aggressive during the siege or a session-wide seige fight with tools more similar to that of the rampages. Zorah could also have easily been an endemic life type role like the monk snail, who's just in the background.

A bit sad, that my comment on Zorah didn't make it in. Since i really like the giant Turtle dragon. And I'm sad he is this low, but I can understand why.
My biggest issue with Zorah is that Nergi has 0 impact. Like seriously they treat it as something terrible. Yet nergi literally is unable to do anything to Zorah.
After breaking under the 200 now we are dealing whit the real Monster, not jokes, failures, or bad recolor concepts. -Copper below the 200? I feel thats very unfair. Sure hes not great, but he was the og, the first Subspecies who gave a shit and changed some stuff. -Emerald probably deserves better, but I understand why people disslike the farting, fair I guess. -I think Ruby souldnt be high, but at least top 200, but well. Not a bad Subspecies as Subspecies. -Ok whit Volvidon im dissagreeing for the first time fully. I think hes great.
Honestly no shocking placement on here. Nightshade I had a grudge against because of how annoying it was to fight it with the sleep element when I was going through the story, now however I like it a bit more after fighting it again in the guiding lands finding I enjoy the fight a lot more...plus at that point I have also long started counter building against monsters which helped.
Just a random question. Does your dragon ever get cold? I know it‘s burning and everything but better be safe and sorry. The last thing you want is for your dragon to get sick in the ever decreasing temperatures.

I‘m gonna say it. Plesioth got done dirty. This fish has grown a lot on me and it’s GU fight isn’t even that bad. I used to despise the design but now? I can see it for what it is. And what it is is pretty cool. Not one of my favorites, not even my favorite of it’s classification but it deserved better than 206th for sure. What I also like about Plesioth is that it never forgets Christmas so if you want to be like Plesioth remind yourself that Christmas is coming. And with it getting colder out there maybe you need something to protect your ears. Just saying.

143. Purple Gypceros - fought it less, so was annoyed by it slightly less
142. Black Diablos - not even a proper subspecies and never bloody stops moving!
141. Lavasioth - only faced the World version, and it was both a chore to fight and easy to forget
140. Kushala Daora - so much waiting on the winds to just stop to get close to it in 4U, and all the issues it had in World too
139. Gendrome - another basic raptor, with a status ailment I hated in 4U
138. Apex Rathian - a knockoff of another monster, no armor to speak of and was not a fight I found enjoyable
137. Apex Arzuros - an introduction to a whole crap subcategory of monsters, with little I found better than the base version
136. Wind Serpent Ibushi - some interesting ideas, but falls flat in too many aspects
135. Great Jaggi - a bland tutorial raptor monster, that may have some potential in later titles
On ruby basarios. When he comes back they should change it to gemstone basarios and have it be on every map with different colors and different elements/statuses.
Hot take: The hip check from Plesioth is not nearly as threatening than his sliding move in 3U onwards
Tbh the enraged MHGU Lavasioth slide is one of the most horrifying, panic-inducing moves I've ever had to deal with in Monster Hunter (in a positive way).

I can’t say that I found any of the placements this time to be incredibly egregious or anything that seemed like robbery. Though I have to say I knew Zora was going be much lower than how he ranked in the official poll, but I am honestly surprised he was not in the bottom twenty. Still, I am rather delighted to see that even if a monster isn’t exactly popular or liked, they still have some people in their corner, yes - even you Plesioth, because I like you, too.

Sad to see none of my comments read yet, but I also didn't care about most of these guys that much. It was a lot of "this is just another monster but harder, -1 of what I gave the original", which isn't very interesting. Really hope my comments for Tobi-Kadachi(favorite) and Kushala Daora(most despised) make it in once we get to them though.

Doshaguma is a more challanging fight, but bala's visual design is rad so he gets the edge.

A monster stealing elements from other monster to fight with is super creative and lets the fight have some more replay value. Being an artificial lifeform that escaped is also an awsome concept, which also applies to the other guardians. And you cant go wrong with the wing whips, cool they brought that over from frontier.

The equal dragon weapons concept has finally been realised, a semiorganic superweapon is a dope concept and i cannot wait to fight it!

What I like about aurora somnacanth is that the original is the only rise monster not based on a yokai and aurora does become yokai inspired. I can't remember what it is but it's the same thing froslass is based on. You can tell by the freezing of prey before consumption

Man, I thought Velocidrome would be higher because of Nostalgia. I think the biggest sin here though is Plesioth. Sure he's awful on land, but that underwater fight is uniroincally great.
Hope regular Gravios does a lot better than his subspecies. I understand why many don't like fighting a rock, but the satisfaction of breaking his parts throughout the hunt and gradually having the fight snowball in your favor is something not really any other monsters have replicated.
Gravios is a nother monster that feels a little to big for a game like Rise but having quite liked the GU fight I’d love to see it come back in Rise.
I guess Great Jaggi is the only one that gets nostalgia bias.
I know Plesioth is kinda hated but I legit tought it would've lasted longer man.
@linfa_mh I seriously can't tell if everyone likes Great Jaggi because of memes or because they unironically like him that much lol. How does he get so much praise for his fight? He has like 4 moves, and half of them don't even knock you down when you're using moves that have super armor. At least the dromes could actually launch you if you got hit by their jumps. I don't get it lol.

@@Andrew-hz5zc Great Jaggi has a nice design and sound design. My guess is that probably a lot of people have nostalgia for it since Great Jaggi is the first monster of MH3, which is one of the most iconic games that started the journey of many hunters (or at least before World). Monster Hunter Tri's monsters in general are very special and nostalgic and Great Jaggi is also one of the only monsters that didn't appear in GU, World and Rise.
@@linfa_mh Great Jaggi takes Velocidromes concept and while it doesn’t grant it many new moves it’s personality and design are just far superior. Come to think of it a lot of the most iconic monsters really are in 3rd gen. Except Great Baggi. Poor Great Baggi.

I loved this guy in tri, he was new, cool and tough as hell. I remember playing on the wii servers and i would often be the only hammer/impact in the group. Getting kos on him felt great cause i knew i was doing my job. If i ever got the chin break i felt like a god. Modern day I think rado is just cooler

Basarios. i really like him and his dad alot, awesome ecology and concept and good fights too super unique for the time especially . i hope him and Gravios return 4/5
Apex arz. i think the base bear is meh, and has always been mid. and apex doesnt make him any better and takes away his one thing he has, his cuteness and not in a cool paria into supremacy thing, hes like lazy edgy the way people think Ra Ro is (they are wrong about that btw) 1/5
copper is the first really unique Sub and has really great ecology mainly due to base being great already, he goes hard 4/5
E.conga. hes above average for the time but really falls off due to time i dont think he looks good and this is coming from a green enjoyer 2/5
Zorah is... a shame. hes cool so cool in concept but bro his fight is just a spectacle like genuinely it couldve been a 5 min cutscene and i think nothing would be different overall in fact probably better. and the fact they spent almost all of world just making him on the side trying to make something but they just couldnt do it right at all even AT is a Snore 2/5
Blue yian. i like blue more as a color but still the same as base and base ahs had alot more love and become alot more unqiue so over all worse 2/5
plesi is a monster i think can only be described as legendary. and ill say it his fight isnt bad all things said and done janky but still fun in a messuped way. i love how he looks i love what he does and man he is so funny i want him back so so so much especially with underwater 4/5
Uragaan is a perfectly great monster, especially in frontier and tri he is so much fun, but his design is just kinda not great due to the chin and not great texturing 3/5
ruby is a monster that means almost nothing to me, and fills like just filler and doesnt expand on basa or gravi. not bad just kinda bland 2/5
Aurora somna is sad. like the concept art looks incredible and they dont expand her at all and just ends up being a more samey somna which sucks cus somna is amazing 2/5
voli is the only bear before rise and wilds that was really good, i love him his geara, ecology and design and his rise icon is amazing 4/5

i hate rathalos, like objectively hes a great monster but me and him have beef, like he harasses me for no reason and never gives me good drops, and there fore azure is also a hated monster, awful sub and there isnt even a rise version to save him. and im dont even like to imply hes a flagship cus hes fucking not 0/5

Honestly, I think that zorah is Honestly wasted potential. Such a cool monster to have such a bad fight. I think zorah could have been either more aggressive during the siege or a session-wide seige fight with tools more similar to that of the rampages. Zorah could also have easily been an endemic life type role like the monk snail, who's just in the background.

Honestly no shocking placement on here. Nightshade I had a grudge against because of how annoying it was to fight it with the sleep element when I was going through the story, now however I like it a bit more after fighting it again in the guiding lands finding I enjoy the fight a lot more...plus at that point I have also long started counter building against monsters which helped.
Just a random question. Does your dragon ever get cold? I know it‘s burning and everything but better be safe and sorry. The last thing you want is for your dragon to get sick in the ever decreasing temperatures.

I‘m gonna say it. Plesioth got done dirty. This fish has grown a lot on me and it’s GU fight isn’t even that bad. I used to despise the design but now? I can see it for what it is. And what it is is pretty cool. Not one of my favorites, not even my favorite of it’s classification but it deserved better than 206th for sure. What I also like about Plesioth is that it never forgets Christmas so if you want to be like Plesioth remind yourself that Christmas is coming. And with it getting colder out there maybe you need something to protect your ears. Just saying.
