      If I can offer any help it’s to start with the basic shape of the structure, the 2 pt perspective part and practice just that shape a few times before moving on to building up shading. Thanks very much for watching! 😊

    Thank you for sharing this. Can you tell us how to draw the perspective lines if your vanishing point is way outside the edges of your paper? Like if your are working from life & want to draw a building. Many thanks

    • @ThePencilRoomOnline
      @ThePencilRoomOnline  27 днів тому

      That's a tricky one as its actually quite difficult to see the perspective by eye when you are drawing from real life - at least not without a measuring tool. You can use a pencil lined up with the angles of the top and bottom edges of a building and then name that angle (eg. 30 degrees) and draw that same angles in your sketchbook. That will give you a basic idea of where the vanishing points might be outside your piece of paper. You can then use your knowledge of 2pt perspective to make sure everything fits with the rules: eg. everything above eye level will slant downwards towards vanishing point, everything below eye level will slant upwards towards vanishing point. Hope that makes sense :)
      So its a mixture of observation and estimation. Which is why it's very useful to do the basic box exercises for 1pt and 2pt perspective to have a really good understanding of how it works!

    Maybe the rooftop needs to be parallel to the line of the bottom of the roof. Ask Stehen Travers.

    • @ThePencilRoomOnline
      @ThePencilRoomOnline  10 місяців тому +1

      Nope. Only the height lines are parallel when using two point perspective. You might be thinking of one point perspective :)
