    Will you please do an exercise on 2 point perspective when both vanishing points are OFF the page???

    • @Linescapes
      @Linescapes  5 років тому +15

      Hey Magdalena! Yeah, that's a good idea, since it can happen a lot. Untill we do, a quick tip: if that happens, try to mark where the points are off your page. Not necessaryly drawing on your table (it's probably not worth it 😄), but try to remember where they are supposed to be. Then, if you have a longer ruler at hand, you can still draw construction lines from that points.

    Great tutorial folks, just like I learned it decades ago but yours is a simpler and quicker method. Perhaps in a future segment you could demonstrate drawing a shadow for an elevated (or floating) object and show how to draw changes in ground forms with shadows and texturing. Thanks and keep up the smiles😀

    After rewinding about 5 times to figure how you did a step in the bonus section, I finally figured out the problem. Due to editing, a step is missing. A line is suddenly on the page that you reference. That was very frustrating. Also sometimes your hand is in the way. Its hard to follow a step if you immediately cover it up with your hand.

    • @Linescapes
      @Linescapes  3 роки тому +1

      hi Andrew, we're sorry for that. Thanks for pointing out the missing step. With time and feedback, we're noticing that some videos should be reshot.

    As a beginner in the challenge I found it useful to make the light source construction lines one colour and the foot of light source construction lines another colour. This quickly makes how it works clear among all the other construction lines and you will see the logic of the shadow right away.

    • @Linescapes
      @Linescapes  3 роки тому

      Thats a good tip for the learning phase. Then in the future you can use just one color - pen/pencil and still imagine 2 types of lines. Thanks!

    How to know which points of the object we are gonna pass the source and bottom lines through ? Like some of the sides at the back weren't taking part in forming the shadow .

    hello there, can you please tell me how you chose the foot of the light source? do you pick an arbitrary spot? what if i made my foot lower on the page? i don't get where to place the foot of the light source. thanks for all your great videos. thanks so much.

    • @Linescapes
      @Linescapes  4 роки тому +3

      Hey Janet! Good question! If the light source is artificial light, like a lantern or something, than you are free to pick the foot. If you’ll place it below the object, then the shadow will be cast behind it.
      If, however, the Sun is your light source, then the foot is on the horizon and all the lines that would else come from the “head” or the light bulb, are parallel lines. In that case you can choose the angle of those lines according to the height of the Sun.
      Did this help?

    • @mpprocter
      @mpprocter 4 роки тому +2

      Linescapes Why would the foot be lower than the horizon line with an artificial light source? Is it because the vanishing point is different with something like a lamp? Also, just to be clear, you draw lines from the sun intersecting the three upper corners of the cube AND you draw three lines from the foot (whether its on the horizon or elsewhere) intersecting the three lower corners of the cube?

    A suggestion: Could you put up a graph that shows the lines from the foot of the light source with the corresponding corners? Then in another graph could you show the lines from the top of the light source and the corresponding corners. Could you make the first graph in green and the second one in red? And then a third graph that shows where the points meet? Thanks. I really like your channel.

    Doing great job 👍
    Just one thing that sometimes the lines you draw are not visible because of the light reflection and also that its pencil, well it has to be pencil but a little changes in the amount of lighting i think the problem will get solved.
