Ankoku Shinwa is interesting in that the manga is very esoteric, hard to follow if you're not familiar with the Japanese history/local myths; I'm not surprised at all they didn't localize the game back then. Seirei Gari is similar - folk horror and all that; Japanese players complain a bit that the game is a bit disjointed, but not too bad. There were also lots of murder mystery games, riding on the success of Portopia (and mostly, none of them managed to replicate it). We got very few adventure games back then, unsurprisingly, but there are some interesting ones on your list for sure.
idk if you already have it here or somewhere, but there's this creepy game I remembered a long time ago where it has a train stage, and the boss is a train driver who attacks with smoke.. The art style is goofy, kinda like classic comedy anime look, with large head etc. I don't remember anything else aside it being creepy and that it has bosses of some sort.
Ninja Jajamaru‐kun and the Ninja‐kun games are technically ninja yokai horror games. ...Except the one in space. Jajamaru fights an "army" of yokai commanded by a daimyou who kidnapped a princess. The first stage is even a graveyard. The Alien 3 port obviously sci-fi horror. Growing up, I felt Abadox was a horror game. lol Did you already cover Dr. Chaos? I'd say Gremlins 2, but that want even a scary movie.
The level of detail on Metal Slader's graphics are truly shocking to see coming out of the NES. You can really tell it's a late NES game because the artists in it are using things like dithering and flickering to get a lot of mileage of the limited color palettes and graphic space.
I love when games name their egyptian god characters Sutek. Sutek means "Nip ple" in Polish, and its spelled exactly the same way (it's pronounced SOO-tech).

Deja Vu was pretty cool too, though i didnt like it as much as Shadowgate, and Street Fighter 2010 was both amazing... and kinda trash. Another one of those i hate this game, but couldnt stop playing it because it was still somehow fun.
Nah, this band and other Japanese glam metal bands were more influenced with kabuki face paint which has been around much longer than Kiss. In their music, ok yeah they really love Kiss over there. Check out Kiss's photo from when they were in Japan, they would've looked like another 80s J-Metal band.
