    I think the biggest news here is that Colt updated their website! The new lineup looks pretty nice.

    I would've thought they would've went up in caliber on these... The Grizzly sounds like it should be a .44 Mag - and the Kodiak should be a .454 Casull (a new chambering) with a 6" barrel, imo! This would further set them apart from the Python and the Viper; adding more variety to their lineup.

      I was Hoping they would as well. Honestly, I don’t see a huge difference btw the Anaconda and Kodiak as well as the Python, Cobra, Grizzly and Viper. I feel all they did was slap a new name on the Revolvers.

    The new Viper .357 with a 4.25-inch barrel or the 3-inch barrel Viper are great designs that harkens back to 1977, when Colt manufactured the Viper and Police Positive Revolvers in .38 Special only. These two Colt Revolvers had the Colt D-Frame, with a four-inch half-shrouded barrel, and fixed sights. The only difference was the frame on the Viper was alloy and steel for the Police Positive. The Viper didn't last too long on the production line and neither did the Police Positive. Nowadays a 1977 Viper in new condition, with box and paperwork, can run up over 2000$ for those willing to pay it. The Police Positive lasted longer than the Viper on the production line. A few good contracts on this Colt kept it alive for several years before production halted. Colt never marketed the Viper or the Police Positive in southern states for some "unknown reason", as the .38 Special was very popular down here during those production years (1977-1984), they missed a golden sales opportunity leaving us out. Another issue that has always hurt Colt is their high prices. The price tag at the other gunmakers has rose also. But Colt Firearms has always had over the top prices on their firearms. I remember as a young cop working part-time jobs for a long time to purchase a Colt Python for duty use, and in 1974, the 400-dollar price was a stretch too far for a young cop with a family to support. Now think about what prices are on good used Pythons! The Pythons of old, will cost a gun buyer too much to say here! The new Viper .357 is a really great looking six-gun and I would have loved it as a duty carry, but the 999-dollars is too high for the new Viper .357. Over-pricing leads to production halt for lack of sales.

    I really enjoy your videos. 😊 I personally prefer the older Colt snubbies like the Agent and Det. Spl

    Between a viper, a 2.5in classic python with its smaller grips, and a S&W 327 for ccw. Any insight? Will be my first wheel gun and might be my only, so think with the if I could only have one mentality. Did not really plan on a colt and love the S&W on paper… then I felt the python and viper in real life and fell in love! Felt like a Rolex!!!

    • @MysteryWheelgunner
      @MysteryWheelgunner  4 дні тому +1

      The 327 is an N frame sized gun. The cylinder will be HUGE. Might be difficult for concealed carry. Of the ones you listed, the Viper would be the most conducive for concealed carry.

    • @MysteryWheelgunner
      @MysteryWheelgunner  4 дні тому +1

      IMO, the Python is better than the Viper. But the Python still has a pretty thick cylinder, though not as thick as the 327. If you can deal with that, get the Python.

    I'm on Team Two Vents. Seriously, Colt, what the heck? I really like the Viper with 4.25" barrel.

  • @philippicphilodox888
    @philippicphilodox888 2 місяці тому +1

    Not sure why they went with 3 vents on the 4.25 blued Python. Maybe Colt wanted to appease collectors by making the new model easily identifiable. Or maybe someone thought that with the extra quarter inch, an extra vent looked better. And why the 4.25 barrel in the first place? My understanding is the extra 1/4" was for the Canadian market because their law required that a handgun must have a minimum barrel length over 4". But that is moot now because of their handgun freeze restricting importation of all handguns. Sorry, Canada, but you need to get a real PM, not a communist dictator.

    I appreciate your video. Now I understand where these new revolvers fit into the lineup. I will share a potentially unpopular opinion: I love revolvers, but none of these guns match their advertised purpose. I live in the part of the country where "bear guns" are carried. Nobody is going to be carrying these new Colts because they are too heavy and too pretty to be packed around. I think they will be excellent target guns, but I think the "bear" naming (and implied use) is phony. I would be real excited if Colt challenged the S&W model 69 or 329pd or developed a lightweight Delta Elite.

    • @MysteryWheelgunner
      @MysteryWheelgunner  3 місяці тому +1

      Colt will probably release a matte finish version of the bear guns sometime down the line. Those will look more "outdoor use" rather than "safe queen". But they'll still be on the heavier side.

    • @theodorepollock4019
      @theodorepollock4019 3 місяці тому

      Now that you mention it, I am not sure why the initial run is not matte finish. The cost of added features would balance with the matte finish and the end product would be better targeted to the intended audience. Still heavy, but a step in the right direction.

    The Viper seems a little unnecessary since they already have the King Cobra with the same features.

    I don't really care for your sneering opinions about the Viper line!! I personally don't have any need for any 44 mag as im a 45ACP guy. The Viper is a adorable throwback made much better and will add to my collection with my Cobra 🐍 and Python blued 4.25 !!
