  • You know how most angel food cakes you buy from the store taste kinda rubbery? This is NOT that cake. This angel food cake is the lightest, fluffiest, and most cloud-like cake you’ll ever taste. I love having this cake in the summer and topping it with some fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream. This is sure to be a new favorite recipe!

    I just made this cake today for a birthday of a friend. It was so delicious! So light and airy, not overly sweet. Covered it completely with your whipped cream frosting recipe and served it with the strawberry topping. Mmmmm! The most time consuming part was the folding in of the flour but so worth the effort. Thank you for a phenomenal recipe!❤

    I acquired my mother-in-law's old angel food cake pan with the removable bottom and the 3 feet to stand it on when cooling. It's 50+ years old and still works great! My mother had one without the feet so she'd turn it over and sit it on a tall bottle to cool. Looks great with all those luscious strawberries! :-)

    Even tho this 69 year old (well will be 69 tomorrow on Canada 🇨🇦 Day) has been bakin 40+ years, I’m always still learning. This recipe is different from my Mom’s I’ve been baking for some time. No cornstarch in the recipe. And recipe calls for stiff peaks, not soft. So the cake is good, but not as soft and delicate a crumb as I would like. So I’m definitely going to be giving your recipe a whirl!!!👍👍 Appreciate that every step is explained well. ❤️ Nothin says summer like Angel food cake, berries and whipped cream...

    I'm crying' foul! You poured the cake batter into a one piece pan with no feet and the finished cake came out of a 2 piece pan with the little feet on it. I wanted to see how you dug the cool cake out of the one piece pan without destroying it. Easy to run a knife around the pan and the center tube but the bottom is another story in a one piece pan. Very easy to do on a two piece pan once you remove the outer part and run your knife between the cake and the bottom. I remedied that by putting parchment paper on the bottom of the one piece pan. It does not inhibit the rising of the cake at all. Plus i've had success in baking Angel Food cake in a non-stick tube pan! Go figure, against all rules but it comes out tall and proud.

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  4 роки тому +1

      Mike F I used 2 different pans to test and see if they both turned out. I made the one with the feet earlier, so it was cool and ready for me to use while we were filming. When I took the one without the feet out later, I cut the sides, shook it a bunch and it fell out just fine. Just took patience to let gravity do the work. A little parchment paper on the bottom is a great idea too!

      @@SugarGeekShow I actually started baking Angel Food cakes in a Wilton loaf pan made for AFC. I line the bottom with parchment, and it turns out beautiful. Run a knife around the sides and plop, out it comes. The pan has feet on each corner for turning upside down to cool. I also prefer the loaf vs. the tube pan, I find it easier and neater for portioning. Even though there is no tube as the round pan has it still raises nice and high and even all the way through.

    The pan you poured the angel food cake in originally and baked, it didn't have a removable tube insert. But the one you removed the cake from did. How do you get the cake out of a pan without the removable bottom? You can't run a knife around the bottom.

    No ,in some recipes it shouldn't be in a meringue consistency,my cake failed because of this,also of the type of sugar,some add powdered sugar and caster sugar mixed together,which is a another factor for the cake failure,another factor that fails the cake is to not grease the pan,also 180 degrees Celsius for 25mins not 45 not 35mins.

    Your cake came out with such a nice light color on the outside. I've been searching for the trick to making that happen, as mine has always come out with a darker golden brown on the outside. I also baked at 375 degrees, for about 35 minutes. Do you suppose if I tried a lower temperature (another recipe has 325 degrees), that might encourage a lighter color on the outside?

    Why is there corn starch in your angle food cake? I have never in my entire long life ever heard of or seen anyone put corn starch in an angle food cake. I have never used it in any angle food cake that I have made and I have been baking for almost 50 years. It is unnecessary and I have no idea why you are using it in an angle food cake.
