VANILLA CAKE RECIPE ►
10 ounces (283 g) milk room temperature, divided evenly into two measuring cups
3 ounces (85 g) canola oil
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
3 Large eggs room temperature
13 ounces (368 g) cake flour
13 ounces (368 g) sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 ounces (227 g) unsalted butter room temperature
Stabilized Whipped Cream ►
24 ounces (680 g) heavy whipping cream
4 ounces (113 g) powdered sugar
2 teaspoons gelatin I use KNOX brand
3 Tablespoons cold water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 Tablespoon heavy whipping cream for the gelatin
16 ounces (454 g) fresh strawberries washed and sliced for the filling

I usually use angel food, pound cake or vanilla cake too. Way better than those biscuits, in my opinion. I also make a little strawberry sauce to put on each slice for serving that the cake soaks up. Yum, yum. I know what my family is getting soon!

I’ve made this vanilla cake with buttercream before and I looooove it. I followed this “stable” whipped cream recipe exactly and my cake is in the freezer right now to keep it from collapsing. I made regular whipped cream yesterday and I wish I would have just used that😞

I made this for someone’s birthday at work. I’ve been baking a long time and my first cake of Liz’s was the white velvet buttermilk cake and it came out awesome. This one looked ok. It rose to the full height of the pan but it wasn’t very fluffy. It was on the dense side. Taste was fine but I wasn’t crazy about the texture. Did I do something wrong?
Is the mixing time the same using a Kitchenaid stand mixer? If not, can you please include that as well? Also, can you (meaning we) always use the reverse creaming method for all of our cakes?
Yes it’s the same for a kitchenaid and no I don’t use this method for all cakes

No butter?
Whenever I store my cake goop in a plastic container the butter or vegetable shortening mixture of the cake goop grows mold and green fuzzy dots. How do I stop that?
Keep it in the fridge instead and make sure you don't get any other crumbs or anything in the container
It's so hard to find cake flour in uk. Do you know of any substitutes?
Try searching for Shipton mills soft cake and pastry flour, or use any flour that has a protein content of 9% or less :)

There is cake flour in the polish food section at Sainsbury's and Tesco.
Totally love Sally! She is so talented and her recipes are awesome. Unfortunately, her recipe is the cornstarch and AP flour trick so that won't work for this recipe. The reverse creaming method really needs cake flour to work, or else it will turn out with a cornbread-like consistency. And I want you all to have the best cake texture possible!
Try searching for Shipton Mills Soft cake and pastry flour or any flour that has a protein content of 9% or less.
