    For anyone who is curious, the big problem with the pods is well, that they're too big. You can see on the Fuji ones, or on integral film, they are smaller, and divided into sections. There was some discussion on this in a thread on photrio I started back in 2019. The idea is that you get multiple smaller wave fronts of reagent that join together, and move together, rather than having one big one that needs to be spread out all over. Thing is, its super hard to make a pod that will break with just the right amount of pressure, and to seal it in a way that the chemicals won't spoil.
    I had a thought tonight while watching this and the other One Instant video to do pod production in a vacuum chamber- make the reagent gooey enough that it won't vaporize in a vacuum, and seal it so that when it comes under atmospheric pressure it collapses to its final size where it can be assembled into a film sandwich. Just an idea though, in case One Instant is watching!

    I get the feeling maybe you need the pull them out a bit slower than just full on yanking it out. Doing it a little slower should help let the chemicals spread properly. Or maybe it just depends. If it’s cooler outside maybe the chemicals are a tiny bit less liquid and not flowing as well as if it’s warmer out.

      @AnalogResurgence  3 роки тому

      I'm very interested in tackling home scanning in the future! The problem is that it's very expensive, difficult, and in the end the results that you can get from a lab will almost always be better. 4K scanning at home isn't something that’s easily done.

    So, what is the future One Instant? Are they currently working on the issues that seem to be common with every UA-camr that has tested their film? What happens when the old Polaroid stock runs out? Are they developing new film that they will actually manufacture?

    • @AnalogResurgence
      @AnalogResurgence  3 роки тому +1

      That’s something I tried to tackle more in the detailed video posted yesterday about OneInstant. Fixing these issues would require new sized chemical pods which is a challenge to make without machines, and new film would likely only be viable in the form of black and white. Something they will probably pursue in the near future.

    I Got 2 packs (Black and white variation) of this stuff a while ago and have been storing it in the fridge. My only question which I can't find the answer anywhere including the one instant website is which exposure setting to use when I put this film in one of my land cameras which only has 75 (color) or 3000 (B&W) as the exposure options. I would assume the 3000 but since this isn't the standard Fuji or Polaroid peel apart film I want to be sure before I potentially waste a shot. Any ideas?

    • @AnalogResurgence
      @AnalogResurgence  8 місяців тому +1

      The black and white film they have is a 400iso film. So neither the 75iso setting or the 3000iso setting are going to be correct. Instead it's best meant for pack-film cameras that allow for manual control over the exposure. Shooting this film with the 3000 setting will result in very very dark images. Using it with the 75iso setting will result in very bright images. If your camera has a dial (often beside the lens) that makes the image brighter or darker, you could try turning this all the way to the darken side and set the camera on the 75 setting. It may still come out over-exposed though.

    • @rebeccacote527
      @rebeccacote527 8 місяців тому

      Oh brilliant. Yeah I was getting a bit annoyed not having that info right on their website and even in the demo videos they post they use a regular land camera I believe so I was confused why I couldn’t find that info. My cameras do have that dial so I will start with exposing at 75 with the dial turned down. Thanks so much! Love your channel!

I always see people mad at fuji for discontinuing it. But everyone needs to understand that fuji is a company that needs to make a profit on what they are selling and by the time this was discontinued, the market for peel apart film was practically gone. Fuji didn't betray anyone or anything like that, they continued for as long as they could but eventually they weren't making anything from it anymore.

The bar they're trying to reach is so very low. Instant photography has always been just terrible. It's a fantastic idea on paper, sure, but so is communism. Like communism, though, instant photography in practice is just a terrible idea. It was terrible back when it was the only option for instant prints, and now that we have many other much better options available, it falls very firmly into the why bother category for me.
