I looked for so many informative videos of this stuff . 5 years later I want to replay the game... the many videos we all wanted to see. It's really a shame I would've gave you big likes.
It took me awhile to really get started with manufacturing. Just never really thought about it much. But now I use it all the time. I finally started experimenting with logic gates.
My main use for the manufacturing was crafting .44 ammo. Normally the standard vendors would only have a few dozen rounds, and the unlisted vendors like the woman near Fairline Hill Estates still only had 100 shots. With the ammunition plant though I could craft a 1,000 rounds for myself and use that to take on the entire Commonwealth.
You are so great at explaining things! I’ve seen so many videos that go to fast or take steps for granted, but you explain everything so well! Thank you! :)
especially when you're like going through a quite and eerie places in Far Harbor or Glowing Sea...first time it happened i was at the Far Harbor doing quest where i have to set up the condensors and the perk just popped up and surprised a crap out of me.

I use the pressure plates in junction with the various "scave stations" as a means of production regulation so there not running 24/7 which also ads some immersion. Looks like a settler is running the line during the work day. You can also set up another vac hopper to turn on when the line is off to pull the unused stuff back out of the manufacture and back into the container or into the workshop.
Restarted playing FO4 since it came out. I only did the story back in the day and 30 hours in I’m realizing how much I missed. Your videos are awesome and great 👍
I hope you see this comment. I am so grateful that you have gotten into manufacturing. I will admit I don't like many videos but I definitely put one on this. And if you want themed settlements manufacturing can make that alot simpler. If you want all the settlers to have the same armor clothes and guns because your looking for that certain feel, the machines can mass produce the same copy of weapon and armor. Can't wait for the next video. Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a great day :)
I like the hypnotic patreon background. You can hook doors up to manufacturing sets like an armoury. Walk in which starts it up, sort a few bits, grab the ammo that the door opening made and go.

I skip the whole starting container thing. I just put the raw materials directly into manufacturing machinery and then set what I want to build. It goes from there. Granted, its not as cool looking/fun as watching raw materials getting loaded into the builder. It does, on the other hand, save space and speeds things up.
Your videos are awesome and very well explained. I love watching them. I've used the ammo plant, noticed it only runs when ur actually AT the settlement. Thank you for another great lesson Paul!🐱🐈
Thanks a bunch Maiden Kitty! And yeah, I think any sort of animation stops when you leave the loading cell. Somehow your settlements can still make money from shops when you're gone, so they should've factored that in.
A good design I use (IMO) is to have multiple manufacturing plants drop their output into a single hopper from elevated slopes and belts, and that hopper drops items onto a belt that carries it to a storage unit. Then all my stuff just goes to one place! The big hopper is a pretty useful item for collating everything together. It's finicky to set up, but so satisfying if you pull it off! Great intro, man.
Brilliant video. I'm new to Fallout 4. Been playing Fallout since the PS2 days. I love going back to FO3 GotY and New Vegas. However my PoS laptop refused to let me play FO4 even with everything turned down to 0. Finally got a new laptop and I'm on my second playthrough in a month. I did a little building on my first playthrough, but realised I was missing so much when I spotted just how much stuff there is to interact with. My first attempt at manufacturing had my machine spitting out balls all over the lawn. I just left and never went back to it. I knew I would figure it out eventually. Or maybe not. The more I explore the more I have UA-cam and the fallout.fandom wiki open almost constantly on my phone. The "Store" button is a space saver. I am using Red Rocket as a fortress. I had a simple ammo plant & the conveyor storage only. "Stored" the plant & made a builder so I could build a builder (?!) to do the lunchbox trick. And then just out busted boxes onto same conveyor. It works for m. I know some love the whole conveyors & vacuum storage, hoppers etc, and more power (& patience) to them. My style works for me. I just tweak the builds I see & simplify them. Great hints!!
Hey man, as an fyi you only have to power one machine in the line to supply them all. Took me awhile to figure that out but it's helpful to know. Love the videos BTW! You have some great builds going on. Keep it up!
Thanks man! And yeah, one wire will supply all the power _as long as_ they're physically connected. But sometimes you'll need breaks in the connection like I had in this little configuration. That's when you'll need multiple wires.
I just found you and I'm happy I did! I was really confused about the machinery stuff but now I understand it better! The way you explain things makes my ADHD go wHEeEeEeeE (aka you do it very well :D). You are very kind sir, thank you for existing and making my day better.
This is what many were waiting for good job man, I'm sure some on has said it but the vacuum hopper can also pull straight from the work bench as well. Little note didn't get a chance to watch the whole video at the time of comment because of work so you may have said it later on.

Great video as always. I messed with the machines a little bit. I am always running low on ammo for the last minute. Just couldn't figure out which containers were to be used. Thanks a million.
Ah yes, the 2mm EC is perfect for the ammo plant. You need Gun Nut 4 for that, but if you have that then that's a great source. It still might be cheaper to buy the ammo from a vendor. But when I had Cait using a Flaming Gauss rifle I was always running low on her ammo too.
I just picked up this game on steam last weekend, looking forward to fixing up sanctuary. I don't like mods, thanks for these videos. Never knew about the rug and pillar glitches
Lol nice editing skills, thought nobody noticed you place the pyro machine backwards at first. Was literally waiting for you to start it and see it go the wrong way.
Thank you for showing this, I assumed it just automatically pulled the ingredients from my workshop, I never got far into building my ammunition factory in the castle.
That's crazy cool, has no idea you could do these sorta things in fallout 4. I've been playing like a "simpleton" so to speak. It was kinda fun yet boring. This definitely has my intrigued, I may be dusting off the old Xbox one and building wild settlements 🤘
Paul, i'd love to see you do a wall-clipping restoration video of Croup Manor. it's an excellent site for wall-clipping and makes a great example of how to restore a pre-war building. [edit] i wanted to suggest that armor, clothing, and weapon mills are really good for outfitting your large numbers of settlers if you are going for themed outfits.
the clipping on taffington is really difficult, but you can re-roof it with the warehouse roof and it looks pretty reasonable, when i did this i added a balcony around the top floor. Croup however has a uniquely low clipping rate on the walls and you can actually almost entirely restore it without using the pillar or rug glitches.
the vacuum hoppers cannot pull items from other settlements out of the workbench, that are connected via a supply line. it would be awesome if that would work (on the one hand to have all items in one place, on the other hand to lower the chances for attacks in the other settlements), but unfortunately it doesn't work.
I love it you the UA-camr that need to make mods reviews and stuff your good at what you do you explain every detail that is appropriate for the time you ready for your good at it i love it keep it up man im new and im already love this Channel
If you just go to the castle, place water purifiers by the dozen, in the water. Place a bed and workshop in the castle armory, you can buy a ton of ammo from the minutemen lady with waters and sleep to reset her inventory and do over and over.
I have unlimited resources thanks to an exploit I’m using on the achievements run I didn’t side with the Garvy boys so the castle is still unavailable so I just have five ammo plants popping out the ammo and since it’s overstocked I have more ammo then I could possibly need, working on the dlc achievements for nukacola world and far harbor now
Those bucket type chairs you put together. I keep forgetting to try that and see if maybe you could put a plant pot in it. I hope that would work as it would make a nice looking planter. Thanks for your videos. Hubby and I have picked up a lot of good tips and general knowledge from watching you.
I’m late as hell but I finally got to download every add on and add mods and update my game ty for your very useful tips I spend time more building then playing the game itself
1:52 I made a gates like this in few of my Settlements as well. But I decided with the Inside-only Switch. Because if I'm already going to o any of the Settlements, I do so thought Fast-Travel (and I have F-T set up inside the Settlements).
Iv been watching him for a minute he is a cool guy and knows what hes doing for most of everything that's just my opinion from looking through his window 😂 lol
Could settlers accidently trip the pressure plate? This would work perfect for a door I have in my sanctuary build and the idea of using the pressure plate would eliminate the need for me to flip a switch, but if the settlers are able to trip the pressure plate, it makes the power door a moot point.
Yeah the pressure plate was initially made to power traps when enemies accidentally stepped on them. But you can use it in other creative ways. Unfortunately the power doesn't stay on if they step off.
depending on what you want to build it can even be helpful, that the power goes off again. you can e.g. connect spotlights to pressure plates on guard towers, so that only those spotlights are on, where a guard is standing (that's esp. interesting in 'spooky and foggy' settlements like the visitor centre of far harbor, so they mainly keep their 'dark vibe'). this is btw an alternative method to deal with the spotlight bug.
From what I have seen (tested), each manufacturing line has to be isolated in a closed loop, meaning they must each be powered by their own generator(s) and not connected to another line (if you wish to run multiple lines at a time) or the terminals will be in conflict with one another and won't initialize the option sequence. For those of us who wants functionality over form, I recommend inputting resources straight into the builder and not wasting resources building a vacuum hopper as it takes way too long to carry from container to hopper and into builder.
one tip i have for people, set up one settlement for automatrons(since robots hurt happiness as they are locked to 50 happiness) and use automatrons for connecting settlements, that way your not using a valuable settler for caravan work.

Pilot Knight I’m not nitpicking but... you CAN wait for more?
Well, good on you for being patient 😂
Thank you, I was intimidated by this add-on. Its appreciated bro, once again thanks.
👍
Great video as always. I messed with the machines a little bit. I am always running low on ammo for the last minute. Just couldn't figure out which containers were to be used. Thanks a million.
Ah yes, the 2mm EC is perfect for the ammo plant. You need Gun Nut 4 for that, but if you have that then that's a great source. It still might be cheaper to buy the ammo from a vendor. But when I had Cait using a Flaming Gauss rifle I was always running low on her ammo too.
Yeah I've been watching you for some time now. And I still suck at building. But I am getting better at it. So thank you.
Just want to say. Keep up the good work . Love watching your videos I always get. A lot ideas . And playing without mod Isn’t easy ..
this was so cool! a terminal is what i was missing. now to make ammo for my fave gun!
Love this series bud!. Great work bro keep em coming.👍
Hey thanks Ricky!
Croup Manor and Taffington Boat house are both on my list for restoration! Man I can't wait until I make videos every day. :)
the clipping on taffington is really difficult, but you can re-roof it with the warehouse roof and it looks pretty reasonable, when i did this i added a balcony around the top floor.
Croup however has a uniquely low clipping rate on the walls and you can actually almost entirely restore it without using the pillar or rug glitches.
I have been waiting for this lesson❤
Can’t wait to see those reveals!
the vacuum hoppers cannot pull items from other settlements out of the workbench, that are connected via a supply line. it would be awesome if that would work (on the one hand to have all items in one place, on the other hand to lower the chances for attacks in the other settlements), but unfortunately it doesn't work.
Woot! I been waiting for this lesson!
I love it you the UA-camr that need to make mods reviews and stuff your good at what you do you explain every detail that is appropriate for the time you ready for your good at it i love it keep it up man im new and im already love this Channel
👍
I know its 2020 im watching this i don't care you done good in it😂😂😂
Went back to old school.. I'm going to do a run with no mods. Re installing fallout 4 tonight
Nice! And you'll have the opportunity to do this as well: ua-cam.com/video/rBYjusRuEIE/v-deo.html
The best things about this game is Dogmeat and the creativity in the customization. The possibilities are endless. Well done >:0
A reliable way to make money of manufacturing is to make cloths cos they only cost clothes, cos give a good amount of caps
Really good stuff. Thanks for making things simple and clear
I have been manufacturing my own ammo on my achievement cleanup run I’ve been doing and it is such a tremendous help keeping myself stocked on ammo.
That's a great idea actually. If I use that in an upcoming settlement, I'll definitely credit you. 👍
I’m late as hell but I finally got to download every add on and add mods and update my game ty for your very useful tips I spend time more building then playing the game itself

I made a gates like this in few of my Settlements as well.
But I decided with the Inside-only Switch.
Because if I'm already going to o
any of the Settlements, I do so thought Fast-Travel (and I have F-T set up inside the Settlements).
Iv been watching him for a minute he is a cool guy and knows what hes doing for most of everything that's just my opinion from looking through his window 😂 lol
i highly appreciate the short attention span out
Could settlers accidently trip the pressure plate?
Keep doing what your doing I love you man
Disappointed that the Ammo Factory doesn't make energy cells or flamer fuel and so on. Just ballistics. Liked and Subscribed.
I hear ya. Welcome aboard though. :)
Hold on 10 more visits to diamond city
Thanks for the tutorial SUPER HELPFUL
I use the mechanist lair for this an id is the hub for all settlements.
Great video, loved the extra credit in there too,
👍
Even though I use mods , your videos still help me alot. Thank you
That's what I like to hear 👍
