I've been playing guitar and singing solo for 25 years, and I can't rightfully explain just how incredibly difficult it is to do what MK is doing here. Just him and his guitar, no effects, one take, and the execution is simply flawless. Not sure I've ever seen a better combo of songwriting, vocal character, and axe chops in someone under 30. Just incredible and soul-restoring to know there are savants like this out there...
This exactly encapsulates how it makes me feel. And the dude is giving an absolute clinic in chord inversions while he's at it.

@@ChrisHarrisWaco No doubt. My biggest 'AHA' moment with guitar was figuring out I can play any chord anywhere on the board using inversions. I was about 20 years deep into my journey before I figured it out though lol...

Slowpoke if you can’t see why don’t ask lol. His phrasing and walk downs and not too mention his vocal ability. The real deal, my buddy got to perform with him at Clapton’s festival last year and that was the first time I saw him live. Marcus is a true talent and I been a even bigger fan then I was before since that show.

I was playing apple radio on a small speaker on my balcony one night that I couldnt sleep when suddenly, this song comes on. My wife came out and found me listening to this by myself and asked if I was depressed or something so I told her to sit and listen with me because then she would would understand. I started the song over and neither of us said a single word the entire time it was playing. I immediately took to youtube and found this version...I'm hooked.

Coming here and seeing all the YMH fans really makes me happy. I've been fortunate enough to watch Mr King grow up and polish his craft in our hometown of Greenville SC. I guess I still hadn't realized that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

I first heard MK playing a guitar at “Norm’s rare guitars” a few years ago. Think he’s a kid now, a few years ago his voice was lagging behind his playing. It appears that now they’re catching up w/each other. This young man is the real McCoy!

I'm under a rock. I never knew of him until I saw and heard him do his bit on the playing for change version of The Weight with RR, Ringo etc etc. With him and the Marshall Tucker Band...and probably others, I think there is definitely something about South Carolina that agrees with me.

I've been listening to Marcus King since I first discovered him a few years back on UA-cam.This song right here?He sounds really freaking amazing.As far as his singing goes? He reminds me a LOT of Al Green(I'd be willing to bet on the fact,he probably grew up in a house with parents who listened to Al Green.IMO... Even though he is a bit Young?,.. he is proof that rock is not dead.I'm almost 50 and it warms my heart to see young people playing to type of stuff that I listened to when I was a kid (and he sings a shit ton better than me.In my opinion I think this guy could be the Savior for Southern Rock).And I think thanks to the age were living in, rock and roll really needs a hard swift kick in the ass. ? Praise the Lord.I'm glad this guy exists. The music scene today is shit.People like Marcus King maybe they can breathe some life back into rock and roll, and get it to start playing on the radio again like it used to way back in the day when I was a kid.

I noticed it right away because I have the same conundrum, I usually held my pic in the middle of two fingers were in between, now I'm incorporating how he holds it on his index finger, and it's making quite a difference in between two fingers was tough
Setzer does that a lot between jazz soloing and Travis picking. Very cool technique. Works for lots of styles as Marcus demonstrates in this tune.

The guitar playing is great , then the real star emerges - that voice ! So much soul from a guy that young. Was lucky enough to have met Marcs last year. Just a real nice down to earth guy. Such a pleasure to hang out & talk music with him. His star is still on the rise. Hope he gets the big break he deserves. So much better than the dreck radio tries to shove down everyones throat.
