    Should also be valid for the 55" inch (www.rtings.com/afflink/AbcAAJhhJOU= ), and the 77" inch (www.rtings.com/afflink/AbcAAJhhJOc= )

      Great TV, and if they offered a 98-100" model I would buy it, but I'm not replacing my still-excellent A90J 83" Master Series with a smaller sized update - only larger.

      Can you a test on the
      Q9FN 2018 I want your opinion on it
      How it stacks up against 2023 &2024
      Qled tv or do you think I need to upgrade I still have not used the full potential of this 2018 model
      I still don’t Trust
      Oled the risk of burn in is definitely
      I want to watch something as long as I want not baby sitting a tv trying to be careful of burn it
      Oled is fantastic there’s no doubt about that plus life span is much shorter on Oled tv than Qled or led or even micro led life span is way much longer . I’m not being mean or bashing Oled
      It’s the burn in I don’t like

    I bought the 65” version. Yes, picture quality is utterly amazing; I’m astonished, particularly when watching 4K Blu-rays. And yes, it was expensive, but… this is my first new TV in eleven years (replacing the last Panasonic Viera plasma), so getting a new set every 11 years, I can afford it! 😊

      My current OLED is the 2016 LG B6.. almost 8 years in my possession and used it 70% for playstaton gaming and still amazed by the quality.. the homescreen web-OS is slow and laggy but the app store still works and TV got updated last year by LG after all these years 😮

    • @michael-4k4000
      @michael-4k4000 Місяць тому

      so you don't think the A95l won't last 11 years? If u are referring to burn in, that depends on hours used and what one watches, right? The power supply may go before or after 11 years. Sony does use better parts. I don't think any big new HDR type of enhancements are coming any time soon. So, if used sparingly. The a95l could easily last 11 years or more. I still have a 55" LG B7 OLED from 2017, it has about 7k hours, it's not main TV, still works fine in almost every way, we do use an apple tv 4k, but i think the OS still works fine, no burn in, there is some image retention (those older oleds were known to have that issue, seems to have gotten worse with time). The funny thing is the TV still looks brand new and has essentially the same style as any new TV. I wouldn't be surprised if we get another 5-7 years. But who knows it theoretically could die tomorrow.

    Just a friendly reminder to everyone that HDMI 2.1 is not required for Dolby Vision. It is only needed for advanced frame rate features like ALLM and VRR.

    • @thenonexistinghero
      @thenonexistinghero Рік тому +2

      Didn't they essentially change the definition in such a way that all HDMI from 2.0 is now 2.1. Though that's just definitions, having a fake 2.1 won't help you with stuff that requires real 2.1 obviously. That being said, for Dolby Vision you can even use HDMI 1.4 for movies and the like. Well, outside of that Will Smith movie that runs at 60 fps on a 4K blu-ray. For gaming at 60 fps in 4K with Dolby Vision you do need HDMI 2.0. And for higher fps than that you need 2.1 and also for variable framerates. Even then I think the limit of current cables and ports max out at 60 fps at 8K (but it's pretty pointless to game at those resolutions for the coming years. All but just a few people are even able to notice a difference between 8K and 4K when it comes to normal viewing distances for regular-sized TV's. You'd be looking at 100+ inch TV's if you want to actually notice a difference.

Are TV companies trying to blind us?? QD-OLED nearly blinds me when watching. Went with the C3 in the end, and I still have to turn the brightness down on some shows!

    Two issues on my A95L, 2/3rds of the screen went black when I was switching HDMI inputs. It remained there on other inputs but not on the home screen I had to reboot to correct this. A replacement TV did the same thing. I removed the Firestick (with recast box) from the HDMI input and resolved this issue. A Sony engineer was very interested and supportive. The 2nd issue is the very slow switching to ATSC 3.0 channels, typically 13 seconds. Hopefully this will get resolved in a firmware update. Still love the picture so I'm keeping it.

    I have another question about “burn in” or uneven degradation. We do watch mixed content, but 70% of our content does have some level of black bars since it’s HD movies or shows. My understanding is the black bars themselves do not cause burn in, but rather the opposite effect where it produces uneven degradation bc those top and bottom pixels are degrading slower. Am I a good candidate for the A95L QD-OLED?

    Dear Rtings Team, I belong to India and I am getting very good deal on Sony A95L(around 30% less than market price) . It’s an showroom display model (tentatively must be there from last 6-8 months may be). The unit looks good and it sounds great. To the best of my knowledge it must have run DAILY 10-12 hours each day on an average from last 6-8 months. It have few/minor scratches on screen but dealer is ready to replace entire display with brand new original sony display. When asked they told they usually take insurance of the costly model and are using the same to replace the oled display. In addition to this they are giving original product warranty (same that is applicable on brand new tv) on the Tv which is of 3 years(extended warrent option is also available by paying some additional bucks). Please advise if I should purchase this showroom display model.

      5grand is just crazy. 77 inch Samsung S 90c Qoled is less than half that price for slightly weaker image processing and slightly less image accuracy. Two things that I guarantee you personally would not notice unless you have both screens side-by-side showing duplicate content. Most people are not watching up scaled content these days. If you are in the know of these high-end TVs, you’re most likely streaming high quality content more than 50% of the time. Sony is charging this much for top shelf processing chips at a price that is far beyond normal profit margins.

If I was to get a HDMI switch, would the TV save the picture settings I set up in each HDMI input or would it just use the same settings and I would have to change each time to my liking depending what I was using? I’m assuming as the switch would be plugged into HDMI 1 on the tv, it would use these same settings whether I was watching SDR or HDR, movies or cable? Or am I talking rubbish ?

    Rtings, question for the team:
    When a TV hdr peak highlight is different at 3%, vs at 10%., let's say 500 nit difference, what do you set your hdr game calibration to? The 3% nit value or 10%?
    If you set it to the 3% nit value, will it clip the medium sized highlights, but if you set it too low, you wont use the high brightness from small highlights?
    Whats the tradeoff your team recommends?

    • @thephantom9080
      @thephantom9080 Рік тому

      I have the same question as well! I think based on hdtv test recommendation for the A95L, due to the lack of HGIG support on sony tvs, you should first turn off hdr tone mapping then use the hdr calibration (all the way down for dark as tjis is oled, and until the sun disappears for bright highlights which should take 17 clicks from the bottom for the A95L). As turning hdr tone mapping off without the option for HGIG, you will be undertraking the PQ EOTF curve but the reason for this calibration is to reach the clipping point, after that turn hdr tone mapping to gradation prefered which should track the curve as best as possible (given no HGIG support).
