Hey Everyone! Just a heads-up, although this video went live in September, I had recorded and edited this in June/July. At that time, Panasonic had yet to announce their return to the US market so I did not mention them as a potential option in this video. Regardless, I hope you all enjoy, thank you!
I picked up the 77" S90c a couple months ago when it was on sale for $1,800 I've been very happy with this TV I just couldn't justify paying over double for the A95L
The S90C is the best value I've seen in a long while, it's why I made a point to recommend it here as well. Also, I won't lie but I had argued with myself over the same thing for months before making the final decision. Way I see it, it's a long term investment and I don't see myself upgrading this until we get somewhat affordable QD OLEDs (or Micro LED) in a 90"-100" size bracket hitting 4000 nits.

Wrong. A95L is in fact THE best TV for PS5 Gaming. Sure the S95D/S90D and G4 may offer more features, but when it comes to raw optimization and Picture Quality, A95L is especially great with Playstation.
Ya, when PC gaming is factored in you can definitely get more out of the competitors. As I'm only playing consoles on this display, a lot of those extras didn't necessarily apply. A trade off for the better image quality I suppose lol.
I was in the markets 2 months ago for a new tv to replace my c1 oled, I looked for hours at the g4 and the a95l, and I got the sony. Love my a95l. The tv is magical!!! Looked way better than the g4 especially the colors and picture!!
Awesome! Ya, I knew I didn't want to give up Quantum Dot from my Samsung. Although the G4's increased brightness was tempting, I heard when it's actually calibrated it's not as substantial an upgrade when compared to the A95L. Either way, I can't find a single thing about the image to complain about here.
@@IndustrialGamer not only that, the g4 was brighter, sure. But the g4 loses color like obviously when you compare it to a qd oled, lg g4's higher brightness literally washes out the color that's normal because of the WOLED panel and this is how it works because of the white subpixel, And the A95L is better overall for hdr, it has a much wider rec2020 coverage.

Haha, yes! I am curious if this display will go down in history as being one of the most highly regarded, similar to Panasonic's Viers plasma's back in the mid 2000s.
I have the a90j and I'm going back to QLED personally. I've done Bravia 9 vs a95l comparisons on my end and I'm just not really into OLED for my use case. I'm tired of how dim sdr is, I'm tired of abl, I'm tired of dim full field HDR. It doesn't fit my use case personally. The pixel response for gaming is nice, but I just don't care much for the HDR performance on the whole.
Perfectly reasonable, I think QLED definitely still has it's uses and the brightness is provides in any condition is fantastic. Looking forward to the day Micro LED comes into the mainstream.
@@IndustrialGamer absolutely agree. There is no perfect TV tech out there. I don't know how "in the tv scene" you are, but there are people who are absolute snobs about OLED tvs. I'm glad you found something that works great for you. The a95l is still a fantastic tv. At these price points, there is no "bad tv"
I have Sony A95L. I need to connect it with my stereo amplifier. My amplifier has only USB-B input (no optical). Is it possible to connect TV via USB-A to USB-B? I tried to connect it and when I plug the cable to TV, it says "cable headphones connected". But my amlifier doesn't play a sound. Have any of you tried?
The difference between TV's is getting very close, is a Sony QD OLED A95L twice as good as a Samsung S90D QD OLED? No, does it have some better specs, yes. In seperate rooms I argue most consumers would not see the difference.
For me yes, afterall you're looking at your TV every day. Not having that Sony XR Processor is definetly a downgrade that would annoy me. Afterall I wanna spend my money for Eye candy. Only the Sony picture IS the definition of Eye candy, which then never makes me regret having spend that money. However I couldn't live with a inferior Samsung image that looks almost blurry and washed out in comparison to the XR Processor. Samsung boys don't admit but are simply just jealous of Sony owners, sry.
I'd have to agree. You can definitely get 90% of the way there with much cheaper alternatives and it's why I didn't want to recommend that 'everyone' go out and purchase this display at the end of the video. It's a niche product for a niche audience, and I think that's perfectly fine too!
I wouldnt choose dolby vision dark. I prefer bright with hdr gradiation prefered or bright. With hdr cinema mode and advanced contrast enhancer meduim live colour low.
I thought Sony had updated the game bar with a "resize screen" option, last year i believe ... but it seems to be missing on your tv in the game bar menu 🤔
Oh, I remember them advertising that feature. Ya, I haven't seen the option on my display and this was running the latest firmware when I recorded it. I just got a new update a few days ago too and still didn't notice it. I'll have to do some digging to see what's up with that, not something I think I'd personally use any way but nice to have.
@@IndustrialGamer Well, use it or dont use it, you still might wanna have it, cause its an feature that Sony promised to the owners via an update 🤗 I imagine you paid handsomely for that tv ...
Isnt Sony always criticized for not having standardized and utra life like colors and instead having a cooler more bluish like calibration? „Its cooler more bluish calibration is off from perfect natural calibration but is surely going to be liked by customers due to it being very relaxing for the eyes. Also to achieve those great brightness peaks it gives up a natural white point. But its no product for purists“ sth like this. I feel like the non plus ultra for color accuracy would be Panasonic no? It always gets huge praise. But its so expensive, only available in 65“ which would be fine for me but some want bigger and the design is… it looks a bit outdated. But especially for older games Sony is always a good choice with its reality creation. It surely can handle those low resolutions better and make them look less blurry than much of the competition like Samsung or idk
Yes, Sony does indeed target a judder to D65 which comes in a bit cooler from reference. From what I've read though, their BVMs ship out with the same judder, then a calibrator goes in and targets to D65. I've also heard that Panasonic is highly regarded as being accuracy kings when it comes to out of the box performance, but at the time I recorded this video, Panasonic hadn't announced their return to the US and I don't think they currently offer a 77" size anyway.
If I mostly watch movies and sports (decent amount of movies and shows from 70s through 90s) and casually game on ps5 and care most about upscaling/processing, hdr impact and color as opposed to gaming features…Would you go with Bravia 8 77 inch ($2700), A95L ($4800), LG G4 ($4,000), or Samsung S90D/S95D (slightly cheaper than G4). I hate the magic wand remote from LG and heard color volume is lacking but also heard processing is best in class and Samsung lacks processing. The Sony A95L seems to be the best TV overall but is just insanely expensive and wondering if Bravia 8 would provide enough of the Sony experience. My guess is it’s less bright, lacks color volume vs A95L but is otherwise a fantastic set..
Hey dude, Based on your listed use-cases, I would probably go for the LG G4 or Panasonic's Z95A. Although it doesn't quite have the color volume as the Samsung or Sony, it's processing for lower bitrate content and streaming is nearly on par with the A95L, not to mention it's one of the brightest OLED panels available which you'll probably prefer for sports and HDR impact. The only reason I would invest the extra in the A95L, is if most of your time watching movies was directly from a disc based source like 4K Blu-rays. However, if you're mostly streaming from platforms like Netflix, Max, Disney, etc., then the extra color volume wouldn't be fully visible from the A95L as just about all streaming sources compress the quality and color depth of HDR materials anyway. LG's panels are also the most resilient from burn-in so there's the added peace of mind if you are having the scoreboard present for long viewing hours. As far as the Bravia 8, while it's a solid OLED TV it lacks the color of the A95L and the brightness of the G4. It would be the dimmest option but would provide the same Sony processing, so while it's not a bad TV, I just think you could do better with other brands around the same price. The S90D is a fantastic display and uses the same panel as the A95L, but as you said just lacks the clarity and upscaling processing of the other brands. Hope that helps!
@@IndustrialGamer thanks for the detailed response. Much appreciated! That all makes sense. In your opinion is the new LG processor in the G4 on par with Sony’s XR clear processor or just pretty close? As an avid watcher of hockey I’m starting to think the G4 with its bright whites/brightness and processing may be the way to go. It also is probably the superior gaming tv from a feature standpoint but hoping it won’t looked washed out after gaming on a 2020 Sony A8H for the past few years. You nailed it, we watch a lot of built into tv streaming apps (Netflix, espn+, max, Disney, etc). I think Dolby vision hdr content will have more impact on the LG correct? As you can tell, Coming from a Sony TV it’s hard to make the jump to a different brand when you’re used to a certain operating system and look but this year the LG certainly impressed me in the store from a clarity standpoint even if it did look a little less “rich” in color vs the QD Oleds. QD OLED seems like the big thing right now but I just can’t bring myself to go Samsung with its lack of processing/clarity since I watch so much hockey (and don’t necessarily want to spend $5k on the a95l since we’re going with 77 inch
Yes when it comes to upscaling non 4k games lets say the switch, older games, or games in performance mode Sony wins hands down with reality creation. I swear it gets rid of any softness and makes it look damn near 4k. I will say LG is getting close in this department, Ive seen old games on the newer LG's and they also look sharp and detailed. Samsung was a distant third in this department.
Absolutely! The first time I really tested Reality Creation was on a PS3 game. I was blown away just how much of a difference it made. It's crazy tech. I've also heard the G4 has made huge upgrades in this department as well.
@@jaycorbin It is unubersally known that Sony has the best image processing in the market... the HDMI limit is an issuw but can bw solved with a $20 splitter from amazon
@@007GoldenLion If Sony actually had the better technology. Why are they still using a processor made in 2015? Sony has always been 5 years behind everybody else. Like their new $700 gaming console that has the same specs Microsoft has had in the Xbox since 2020, or the “handheld gaming console” that you not only need a PS5 for, but can only play when your PS5 is also turned on.
The only reason not to buy the Sony is for gaming so massive deal breaker plus I actually prefer a good mini led over oled to much black crush and limited brightness, although I do love my lg c1 oled but I will probably get the tcl 75" c855 UK model was looking at the Samsung s95d and LG g4 but there's always been something about oled that never quite looked right...

Can confirm, this was actually patched out in a firmware update back at the end of 2023. Although don't have a meter to actually measure how well DV performs now. When it comes to gaming though, I think only 2 or 3 games actually support native Dolby Vision, so it's a non-issue there.
I want this TV but while i can, I just don't want to spend $5000 + tax, delivery / setup and you are at $6000 for a TV. I have to ask myself if the Bravia 8 is good enough at $2000 cheaper. I have an A80J now and It looks good to me. (it is calibrated though) I might wait one more year and see what Bravia 8 2025 offers
I don't think that's fair to say. If this was indeed the case, there'd be a mass recall and many wouldn't be buying this display. If you treat your electronics right they will last a very long while.

Is the A95L game mode that much dimmer in HDR compared to other presets?
Yes. By far
A95L is better than both S90D and the G4 without a doubt.
I'd have to agree. You can definitely get 90% of the way there with much cheaper alternatives and it's why I didn't want to recommend that 'everyone' go out and purchase this display at the end of the video. It's a niche product for a niche audience, and I think that's perfectly fine too!
@@MISTERMASTER1234 yes and a lot more expensice, twice as good?
Does anybody know if the option ‚gradation preferred‘ in the hdr tonemapping settings is the equivalent to hgig on LG TVs?
Yes sir, just don't use brightness preferred. Well maybe if you want a brighter image, but gradation preferred is the most accurate.
It's still not HGiG technically, but I echo @MISTERMASTER1234 response in that it is the most accurate tone mapped mode on the display.
@@IndustrialGamer What does judder have to do with D65 color point???
Hey dude,
Based on your listed use-cases, I would probably go for the LG G4 or Panasonic's Z95A.
I am soo hoping this tv comes out in 83” come 2025
That'd be the next step. Hoping Samsung's Gen4 panels can finally hit over 2000nits as well.
@@IndustrialGamerfor sure! Don’t forget the 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs
Rather 85" , this stupid 83 size create only LG
Yes when it comes to upscaling non 4k games lets say the switch, older games, or games in performance mode Sony wins hands down with reality creation. I swear it gets rid of any softness and makes it look damn near 4k. I will say LG is getting close in this department, Ive seen old games on the newer LG's and they also look sharp and detailed. Samsung was a distant third in this department.
Absolutely! The first time I really tested Reality Creation was on a PS3 game. I was blown away just how much of a difference it made. It's crazy tech. I've also heard the G4 has made huge upgrades in this department as well.
Only $2,000 more for a whopping 5% difference.

@@007GoldenLion And every single one of those people have a “paid promotion” sticker attached….
Is it really that much better then a of g4???
I don't think it's THAT much better and depending on what you may be using the display for, it could not better at all. Everyone's use case and values are different.

A95L has issues with dolby vision
Dolby vision is so overrated though!
@@claykeough7898 HDR in general is retarded overrated.
Nobody uses DV Gaming anyways.
I heard the G4 does have dolby vision issues too. Dolby vision is just a gimmick and should be off forever. Only for movies it makes a difference.
It'd be nice if Sony sold a MLA version of the Bravia 8. I'd honestly would've considered that option over the A95L of the price was a lot cheaper.

I don't think that's fair to say. If this was indeed the case, there'd be a mass recall and many wouldn't be buying this display. If you treat your electronics right they will last a very long while.
@@IndustrialGamer It if fair to say that years of improvement on longevity are evident and maybe next generation could reach reasonable level of endurance. Probably a combination of recording this in the late afternoon with the ISO turned down so I could capture the details on screen. Apologies if it was an issue.
The fact it only has x2 HDMI 2.1 ports means I was forced to go with LG G4 - the end.
Most idiotic reason ever.....if worst came to worst all you would need is a small little hdmi hub if you really needed more ports....
