    A little tidbit, the area by the opera is a very expensive part of Oslo. In the first show he buys a super expensive apartment in the area called barcode. He is super stressed about the mortgage. Then it all goes down hill with the neighborhood.

    I cried like a baby when I saw the family reunited. I just saw that scene and I already forgot their names. But still. What an amazingly crafted show. It's not often shows can give you those kind of reactions a couple of episodes in.

    In Norway the military and police are two entirely different things. Not like in the US. Norwegian police academy is 3 years school/training which have more focus on communication and de-escelating situations instead of brute force.
    Vikings were pirates who robbed, raped and killed. I can very well understand why they do not want that kind of people and mentality in the police force.

    Another good video from you.
    A lavvo is a Sami tent, not Finnish. However, the Sami were called finnar by the Norse, hence why the place is called Finnmark, from old norse finnmǫrk, basically meaning the land of the Sami.
    Have you agreed on which age the drug dealer is from?

      Yes you are correct, the Sami are of course their own distinct people and culture. I'm mixing up the Finnish 'Laavu' and the Sami 'Lavvu' 😅

      @@VikingsReact I didn't even know there was such a thing as A Finnish laavu. 😉

      @Aremeriel I love that we're all learning a few new things 😁 yes, from what it looks like, there are similar designs all through Scandinavia and the Baltics with all their own names, but the Lavvu is definitely the Sami version 🙂

    The "of Norse descent" you guys were bothered by was actually a mistranslation. In the original Norwegian language they say "of Norse origins", not "of Norse descent".

    10:36 [edit: -12:43] back in the day i would have said the same, but i had a picture of yeshua painted for me that presented him as a bad a$$. the story got twisted (maybe) through time. logically you would have to think of yeshua as an imposing figure to do the things said of him without the powers-that-be at the time stopping him sooner. i mean for ONE dude to go into the temple of the jooz and turn over tables unchecked... have we seen religious zealots in the middle east tolerate any sort of disobedience? i think yeshua was a buff dude. an imposing guy. not some birkenstock wearing hippy. someone that would give you pause even if you had a sword.

    5:36 I still don't get why or how that works - how is military background not good for police work? 5:46 Ok, I see that point, but that shouldn't be a reason to ban them, if they know what they're doing in the field why not let them work?

    • @VikingsReact
      @VikingsReact  3 роки тому +1

      Fully agreed with you here! I can sort of understand the possible reasoning to not let them, but modern military and police work require psychological evaluations, so it should be simple to determine if they're fit for police work or not 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @Aremeriel
      @Aremeriel 3 роки тому +9

      As a Norwegian, I didn't even question that part. You won't get in to police education here if you don't have a spotless criminal record. A fine for speeding can pass, depending on how long ago and severity, but certain things on the record will get you disqualified for life, for instance DUI, drug or violence. I guess they've put "viking warrior" under the violence part. 😉

    • @agenttheater5
      @agenttheater5 3 роки тому

      @@Aremeriel still, does being a viking warrior really count committing a series of crimes? I mean, it could be argued like they're a soldier who wanted to join the force after their military tour was completed.

    • @Aremeriel
      @Aremeriel 3 роки тому +8

      @@agenttheater5
      To be disqualified for life from police education in Norway you don't need to commit a series of crimes, all it takes is ONE act of violence on your record and you can never start police education in Norway. Alfhildr's encounter with the "old acquaintance" would have been enough if on the record. Also, I'm talking about being accepted to start the police academy, which is 3 years of full time study (both in classrooms and field), before you can even apply for a job in the force.
      Could you argue the similarities between a viking warrior and a soldier? Not really, because modern soldiers have records and I wouldn't want a person with a dishonorable discharge to be able to join the police force and you can't exactly check a viking warriors records. In the show they couldn't even check Alfhildr's claim she was a húsfrú, when in fact she was a skjaldmær. Norway's military is conscription based, only commandants and officers enlist after mandatory duty, at which point they basically go to military academy for some time.
      I don't know where you're from, so keep in mind that my point of view is as a Norwegian and with Norwegian police and military in mind. That said, there might be Norwegians out there who disagree with me.
