I have the 2002 SE V6 as original owner. Nearing 220,000 miles and no signs of slowing down.
So far 2 water pumps, belts, 2 sensors, and replaced the paperish JBL rear speakers that wore out.
This was the golden era of Toyota, if you were lucky to own a piece of history this car was one of them.
@j j 95k is just starting out for that car! I am at the 259,000 mile mark now. Only issue is when I take in in for service the mechanics say they are having a harder time getting parts for this model car. Airbag sensor is on all the time now, O2 front sensor is acting weird all the time.
The actual actuality of the actualness of the actual vehicle actually actuates me
GREAT VEHICLE!!! 2.2 is a long lasting motor and easy to take off oil filter love it! It's a good looking car that will last a VERY LONG TIME
I have a 99 solara sle v6. 320,000 miles, still runs like a champ. Did have a evap issue, but other than that all good.
Some Toyota reliability 👍
Dude same here. I have a sle v6, 289,000 miles. Runs like a champ. Currently own the solara, 2016 Prius and 2006 cobalt ss.
My 01 Solara has that same evap issue.
How is it working today? Just bought one 285,000 miles wondering if I'll get two years out of it. No rust no leaks . Lmk in comments!
@@thejae-fam I have the LE v6 with 284000 miles and runing like new . Do the oil change u be good
My mother owns the 2001 Solara SLE V6 model. I agree with the steering aspect. The SLE model has leather material which show creases now. The JBL speakers in hers are definitely worn out and some don't even work. Requires some replacement now. It has over 180k miles and still running.
Good review anyway I'm considering the 2018 Camry XSE model but going to wait until the end of next year.
I blew the 6x9 on my 2000 v6 lol I have a Kenwood deck allot of watts. Yesterday I installed infinity reference 9663 OMG bass baby
Oh yeah btw my 2000 has 200,000 miles n feels brand new. No leaks
Awesome to hear, have heard nothing but good things about Toyota engines in this era. Will be interesting to see where they go from here.
One of my favorite cars. The 3.0 V6 was sporty but not fast. I can't imagine a 4 cylinder.
I love the color though.
My 2000 v6 5 speed has 219,000 miles and has been a decent car. Leaks but for 19 years old that’s expected.
Just bought an 01 2.2 last week. 155,000 miles. Runs good, just has a check engine light for the evap system, and will jump into gear from park if it start driving without warming it up.
Have a 01 2.2 4cyl here myself, bought it almost 3 months ago now with 147,000 miles ... Has 148k now, spent $1000 in repairs on it already... New brakes, egr vsv, replaced a fuse for the interior lights and clock, new radiator, new radiator hoses and cap, new coolant... Still have a check engine light for evap and p0420 but it runs fine
@@robbiepayne97 I traded mine in on a new 2022 Nissan Sentra
I absolutely love the car
Great video and perfect way of describing 💯
Just bought a 1999 SE V6 with a 4 speed automatic with overdrive. It's got tan interor and white paint
That Toyota Solara will last a LONG time if an owner takes care of it. Probably over 300k miles no problem.
This is great information on this car. Your video is very explanatory. Thanks for sharing
Great Review 👍. I just got a 2001 in December with only 132 miles 2.2 good car so far only thing is engine light always comes on
Thanks! Yeah that's fairly typical I don't believe anything was ever wrong even though the ECU just needed to be reset to remove the engine light.
@@DerrickMoy Thanks I appreciate your response. And information again.
I got the 2000 v6 gold I lovee it! Just did the serpentine belt and installed infinity reference 6x9 cuz I have a Kenwood deck n blew the Jbl lol
How to turn on foglights
I recently bought a 2001 SLE to be my commuter car. It has 117,600 miles on it. My commute is only 5 miles each way, so I think this will last!
Haha it's a Toyota, the engine will certainly last. Other parts... maybe not.
@@DerrickMoy Fingers crossed!
Please tell me I can't live without it
Dope I just purchased one
Nice 👍
I would be more than happy to drive the Toyota Solara
I have an '01 from the show room..158k on the clock..Some issues through the years, but if Toyota hadn't quit the car I'm sure I would have purchased 2 or 3 more.
Im sorry i ever sold mine. I bought a 2001 and sold it in 2014 with only 53,000 miles on it.
Looking to buy a 2002 solara v6 with 150,000 any tips / advice .. is it a good reliable car ?
The body roll and handling at higher speed is different with the 3.0, I had a 96 Camry with the 3.0 they're almost identical but the body and I owned a 97 w a 2.4 so I know what u mean about the doggy hp. I actually didn't know they made the solara in a 4cyl. And a 2.2! No less lol. Oh I also own a 2006 solara with the 3.3 vvti
A good assessment of a real nice car...Not a sports car by any means, even in its SE trim with V6 and a 5speed...I had a 99 SE V6 5speed and it wasn't much snappier, but certainly fine for normal driving. The design of this car will look great for many years to come, and the interior looks nice and has quality construction. The second generation Solaras were ugly and cheap in my opinion, Toyota obviously was looking to cut costs... Wish I had kept my Solara instead of buying a new 09 Camry....Oh well...
Totally, my brother in law had one and I hated to say I liked the older styling much better hahaha
Actually it's actually pretty actually great!
Donald Killian, hahahahahha
I was like his speedometer is broke
I have a 99 Solara SLE V6 140,000 miles one owner before me straight off the lot sports package equipped. Only problem, no air bags and it has a 4 inch dent in the rear bumper. A grandma had it prior to me and didnt want her in it. Donated to habitat for humanity i picked it up for 2,200 as my second car. Im 22 and my first car is a 1999 Mirage Mitsubishi with 57,000 miles on it. Also 2,200 priced and honestly guys. I think i have my work cut out for me. Found a V8 engine from a local seller but my boss says hell disown me if I drop the Solara's engine. Opinons?
I had same year same color .
The se or V6 does 0-60 in a solid 7 seconds 😏
lmfao no it doesn't
ETG Sponge it does the second gen V6 does it in about 6.6 sec or something
@@etgsponge307 yes it does
The 4 cylinder has sticky ring problems. They start using oil early for a toyota. It will use about a quart of oil to 150 to 200 miles. The only way to tell is to take the oil filler cap off while the motor is running and it will have a lot of blowby. There was a a recall on the motors in the later years. This year had the problem but was too old by the time Toyota admitted the problem.
You're taking about the 2.4L, which was introduced in the 2002 model
I have an SLE V6 manual trans with a TRD supercharger. It's too fast. It has the leather, power driver seat and sunroof. It does need some body work. It runs great at 174,000. I'm in northern California if anyone is interested.
interested!
9th wonder beat Really
I don't like 2nd generation ither
your review is not good, i dont wish to see you talking for almost the entire video, i want to see the car when you turn the vehicle, see the steering wheel, see how the turning signal works, NOT YOU
These little young people can't do a real reviews, it's just their little opinions!
Jerry Washington reviews are based on the opinion of the person doing the review.
ok boomer
Yes thats what a review is...the persons opinions lmao. Stop being a stupid boomer
