- I've got you covered in this video. This video is the exact one I share with my students in my beginner mixed media course called Blending Abstract.
Understanding the differences between deli, wax, parchment and tissue paper is all explained for you.
DELI Paper I use: amzn.to/2WiLaLV
NOTE: This video is from a course I teach online. I'm offering it here since I get asked often about the differences between these papers. The course where I teach how I apply the papers to canvas is in this course:

At the very end of the video you said “ if your just starting out, I would start with tissue paper “, that’s exactly what I was looking for, thanks❤️
You're most welcome! 😊
For Australians watching, parchment paper is baking paper here, rolls of grease proof paper from woollies or coles for about $1.20 a roll it can be used instead of deli paper, Amazon Australia now has some boxes of deli paper for sale as well. I only add this info as I’ve been frustrated for so long on the different names in different countries and it was a big day for me when I discovered cheap old grease proof paper is a sub for expensive to us deli paper
Thanks for sharing!
I can't find wax paper in Woolworths, Coles etc. Where did you buy yours Michelle P?
@@suziabdolali1612 I’ve just been using Coles greaseproof paper for my gelli printing and collage papers and it’s great not the baking paper .. hope that helps.
I have used deli paper as a palette for my acrylic paints for years; easy clean up - just throw it away. I also love to paint on it and use it in collage - easy to punch out flowers and/or leaves, etc.

Wet strength tissue paper is also available from Carnival Papers in UK, also on Amazon. They're larger sheets 50 x 76cm designed not to fall apart when wet.
Thanks for the tip!
I was trying to find out the difference between parchment and deli paper, and you've explained it very well. Thank you for this video! :)
I'm so glad this was helpful. It can be a bit confusing because different manufacturers can vary.
Great clarification - thank you!
Glad you found it helpful!
Hello, this was very helpful, can i ask where to find the video that you spoke about the iron transfrering the oainting to canvas please 😊
Glad you found it helpful. I do apologize. This video is part of a course I have and in that course is the lesson I was referring to. I get asked about papers so wanted to share this video.
I'm from the UK and I've never been able to find Deli paper in shops, even in the baking section. Nobody seems to know what I'm talking about. 😞
Also the parchment paper that you iron is called freezer paper over here. 🇬🇧.
It's all terribly confusing but your video took away some of the confusion. 😁
I know it is so confusing depending on where you are in the world. Freezer paper in the US in nothing like parchment paper. 😩 I use a specific brand of construction paper (TruRay) and discovered that in other places in the world it is called sugar paper. I had never heard of that.
If you look at Jackson’s Art Shop in Putney London, they have stocked Deli paper in the past. They do an efficient mail order service.
There's deli paper available on Ebay UK - I buy it all the time. Also US parchment paper = UK baking paper (UK freezer paper is the same as US freezer paper - you can use it as a carrier sheet by ironing tissue paper or fabric to it and run it through your printer.)

@@ZsuzsaKarolySmith Yes, freezer paper is good for that!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Hi Roben can you tell me which class you teach that covers using deli paper ?
My Blending Abstract course touches on deli paper. This video is actually in that class. robenmariestudio.com/p/blending-abstract
Hi, how is deli paper different than wax paper, it has "wax paper" in the amazon description! thanks
It is hard to explain. It has a very thin type of coating but not thick like wax paper.
Thanks, I get it!
I have the same question too. But I wish to check will this thin layer of wax affect the adherence of our paint or acrylics onto the paper? Thank you
Roben-Marie - are you able to tell us the name of the deli paper you used with water colors? I use the Kabnet usually
Yes, I will add it to the video description. It is by Marcal: amzn.to/2WiLaLV
@@RobenMarieSmithArt The same brand also seems to be available on Amazon UK but a bit pricey - about twice as much for the same quantity!
@@ZsuzsaKarolySmith It is crazy how the prices differ so much!
Thanks for this great video. Can you post an updated link to the deli paper? This one no longer works.
Does anyone know where I can buy wax paper in Australia? I can't find it in supermarkets. I have purchased it before but not for quite a few years. Anyone else have any ideas? Much appreciated
Sorry that no one has responded to this. 😞
