2008 Audi S5 Running like a Pig....Diagnosed with a Pressure Transducer

- Another video from about a year ago when I operated as a Mobile Diag Tech
I was asked to Diagnose the running issues with this V8 FSI S5
Without any strip down the problem was diagnosed using in cylinder pressure analysis and intake & Exhaust Pulse Pressure
The car was conclusivly diagnosed without any stripdown so the owner could still drive the car away (although ver slowly)

I’ve definitely learned a lot watching your videos, really appreciate you taking the time to make them and explain what you’re doing 👍🏻
Great job on the diagnosis! I wish I could find a local mechanic with this level of logic!
i was test driving one yesterday, and when i was trying to acelerate, it won't go more than 3k rpms, sounds was like rev limiter/ misfiring and didn't take 4th gear... But when it was iddling sounds normal without misfire...so idk what it has on it...i saw lot of carbon build on exhaust pipes so i know that's a sign...apart of the mileage 199k it maybe needs a new engine and transmission or do you think is worth trying to figure it out?
thanks for sharing Gary I am new to the oscilloscope only purchased a 2 channel Pico just as an entry level tool but I have to start some where . good diag
Any value in doing a compression test on 5,6,7,8? I'm thinking of a burnt-out valve.
The pressure analysis proved conclusively that the issue existed on all 4 cylinders on the left bank so a compression test would be a waste of time and effort.
This is the reason I don’t do compression tests with a gauge as they leave so many questions unanswered
Boring
These DI FSI engines build crazy carbon deposits on their intake valves as well - causing awful running and weird pressure anomalies.
I have a Audi S5 and I can't get it to crank
Please help 🥺🥺
Mr.Gary,, Honestly speaking I know nothing but scope but explanation absolutely awesome 👍.......
Good work done Boss 🙌
Same like mine P0300 and P0017
Misfire and cam crank correlation incorrect.
My car runs the same if not worse. Probably have to remove the engine and repair
Awesome diagnosis!
I have only one question: where did you get the piston overlay chart software from?
Greetings Tom!
Top diag again, really well explained too. Looks is like a big job for the customer. Cheers Matt
Hi Gary great explanation on the wave form analysis.i noticed from the scan that camshaft adjustment for bank 2 open circuit was detected was this part off carrying out the in cylinder test.
Another master class in vehicle diagnostics there’s many a garage would shy away from that job V8 and Audi no thanks but no problem for you. Really enjoyed your explanation of the in cylinder wave form.
Wow just wow i thought i knew a good auto electrician...you sur are on another level
What a detailed diagnosis 👍👍👍
Great work my friend, and great that you explained your findings with the graphs.
Your the man and thank you for sharing and taking the time to bring this to us all.
🤗 kind regards Jay
Just started watching your channel, brilliant diagnosis on the s5 i definitely need to do some research /learning 👏👏
Superb explanation, Awesome :-)
brilliant work something i want to learn more about is in cylinder presser and analysis . call me a interested home machinic
Loved this, every day's ....quality!
Top diagnosis explanation! 👏👏👏
great video Mate . i was hoping to try cam and crank correlation for that bank to compare it with the good one . at the end you did great job
I need to study more in cylinder pressure because I got lost at minute 19:00 :)
An excellent educational video. Thanks 👍
Excellent in depth diagnosis 👌
Fascinating stuff, thanks.
Great diagnosis again and great explanation. 👍
Thanks for sharing Garry 🤜🏻🤛🏻
That's amazing how much knowledge of engine condition you can have, without stripping it. Great diagnosis. Could You publish those waveforms, good and bad, so I can analyze them in Pico software?
I could email them as a psdata file if want to drop your email in comments
Fantastic analysis.
Top man 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Only thing I would do different ,I wouldn't start it after initially hearing it ,I understand trying to narrow it down ,but go straight to valve timing check without further starting
The whole point of using this method to diagnose problems like this is, there’s not hours of chargeable labour for dismantling that ultimately leaves the vehicle immobile.
@@intelligentauto737 don't fall out with me ,I get it ,it was always going to be invasive by the sound.
@@kp-qr6hy I’m not falling out with anyone but from a customers point of view, a garage charging numerous hours, making their vehicle immobile abs then telling them it’s terminal does lie well.
This way, I the garage owner gives my customer a conclusive diagnosis in relatively little time and a still mobile vehicle.
I like to work smart, not hard.
@@intelligentauto737 iam not knocking you ,in my day there was no diagnosis equipment, once I heard that engine , microsoft's finest was never going to fix it ,and closed the bonnet being 100%sure with out even removing a bolt that she'd jump the timing,,she's certainly not a runner ,and depending on the age she's a breaker
Your going for an early start tomorrow Gary 😉
Well it’s a day of rest so why not 🤪
But also, the yanks on the west cost will just be going to bed!
@@intelligentauto737 LOL
@@sandyande you never know, we may get an invite across the pond (with our translators) to show them fellas some off the cuff, rough arse testing methods..🤣🤣
Great 👍 channel and great skills.nice kitted van,,where did you learn or train
This particular discipline, in cylinder & pressure pulse analysis I was taught by an American called Brandon Steckler, he was brought to the Uk to present classes in this by a fella called Ryan Colley of @EliteAutomotiveDiagnostics
How can I know scoping and understanding the waveform???
Training
Then please I suggest you start to think about a training programs that will train people like us,,
Because there will not be a better trainer like you Mr,Gary
@@awudubannaf8608 thanks for the compliment but I’m sure there are people far more qualified than me 🙂
