I really love how the lobster fisherman is sort of introduced as this hardened sea dog, but then when you get back to his restaurant his wife is a quirky Canadian and he's pretty quirky himself. Great stuff Vice.
Charlet is amazing. Like the perfect mix of politeness and grit. Like she's done the entire "class journey", knows how to behave, but doesn't forget her roots. Very impressive person!
Would much rather hang with the steam punks more my kinda people, than some of the other moody Scots Charlotte encountered.... For the most part seem like cool people though.
@@MrCoors68 She's cooking and beiong a great housewife while her man goes fishing and then once a week they dress up. Seems like a lovely, stable, traditional relationship. What's your problem, troll?
+Adam Hamill That sound actually means that the lobster cant process the air and is actually screaming, losing the air in its body, dying in what we assume is pain :/
Great series, I have been to Scotland and it was one of the best trips I've taken in my life. My family is Scottish and we wanted to go there and see our roots. The country is absolutely gorgeous, the people are incredibly nice. Highly recommend it. This makes me want to go back now
We take in one-too-many drams at a whisky distillery. Also, lobster fishing with a die-hard steampunk fan? It's all in ep 2 of MUNCHIES Guide to Scotland. Episode 1: munchies.vice.com/videos/munchies-guide-to-scotland-episode-one/ Episode 3: munchies.vice.com/videos/munchies-guide-to-scotland-episode-three/
Scotland is among the most beautiful places on earth, the food, the companion, Scottish are friendly, good whisky. I love you Scotland... I will be back...
I hated her for a long time, but she grows on me. She seemed posh but is actually just awkward, and she asks questions I wouldn't have thought up and makes connections i didn't see. What more can you ask of a journalist? Now I look forward to her work.
***** Yeah, her accent is so stereotypically 'posh Londoner' that it's almost impossible not to find her pretentious at first but after watching more of her videos (because I found the subject matter interesting) I see that's not the case at all and she is genuine and open-minded.
So far I'm loving this series. It's true she can be a bit hipster-ish and snobby, which might be a londoner thing, I don't know. But everybody keeps mentioning the Colombian episode and her reaction is actually a typical reaction of europeans and north americans visiting south america (in my case Peru). Major cities in S.America have lots of contrast, mega fancy and dirt poor when you cross the street, and there is segregation and discrimination and a lot of mysoginistic attitudes. Her reaction was a fairly common one and should be considered a reflection of her opinions and of south american lifestyle and mentality, not just putting all the blame on her. In all, she was being critical of many things us south americans also criticize.
I sense Carla the lobster fishermans wife has had a fucked up life. How does an American/Canadian (can't tell which) punk chick end up on the Isle of Mull AKA the middle of fucking nowhere, married to someone twice her age. Don't get me wrong it's cool as fuck, just incredibly weird. They should do a prequel film about how that happened
+Zim Zimma The middle of nowhere to you is the centre of everywhere for someone else. I have a friend who came here from a town by Las Vegas to see family and she moved here a year later and bought a farmhouse. Her reason? She was fed up being sweaty and sticking to furniture and car seats in Nevada.
I picked up and moved from Los Angeles to the middle of nowhere in Thailand, and yes willingly. Some people just get tired of city life or life in their home country. I moved back eventually but I can see why someone would want to move overseas, marry and start life anew
Andy Howard Well said. What Andy said is way more refreshing than what Tom said. But I agree with Tom too. That FoB guy is even more insulting to foreign cultures.
I would have to say that aside from the shite weather, the remote parts of Scotland are truly amazing. I love it here so much. 10 minutes from my house and I am in the hills!
That definitely made me want to up, and leave to go live somewhere like that. Here in the states we're intent on turning everything into a parking lot, and are doing a fine job at it. Scotland has been around for so much longer, and still looks pristine.
I'm American. I have no problem understanding most UK accents (except for that strange one that is spoken in a couple of neighborhoods in Glasgow, that you hear from a couple of characters in Trainspotting). Anyway, I have heard other Americans say that Scottish accents of any kind are difficult to understand.
@@MattAlexanderMe trainspotting is Edinburgh mate. Try understanding proper Scouse, or valleys Welsh, or hull. Bet you can't, you Americans always try to act cultured.
Dined there with my late father; it was a great meal. Fabulous combinations that never stifled the main flavour. Why must we limit ourselves to a stale concept of what Scottish food should be? Guess where the seafood in a Spanish paella comes from...?
I've left the Bruichladdich distillery drunk at lunch time too after my trip to Islay. Stocked up on a few bottles then went to Bowmore and did the same.
How delightful are that fisherman and his wife?! That is how I'd like to think of Scotland, as opposed to that messy, riotous, Buckfast-ed, munchy-boxed version.
I really love how the lobster fisherman is sort of introduced as this hardened sea dog, but then when you get back to his restaurant his wife is a quirky Canadian and he's pretty quirky himself. Great stuff Vice.
Yeah that was fuckin fantastic. Great job whoever scouted them out!
He was delightful! I'd love to spend six hours on a boat with him, he'd be lovely company.
I loved the guy, and his command of English was even more impressive!
Sandra Fowler spend 6 hours doing what?
Sandra Fowler i doubt he'll last 6 hours though.
Kendrick Lobstar...... I love this lady so much.

He definitely loves anime

I'm cringing. She's so awkward, not very open towards her hosts either.
This is such a "FEEL-GOOD" series of MUNCHIES. For some fucking reason I was smiling the whole time.
Me too laddy this is my home aha
That fisherman scene was incredibly romantic; I love his positivity.
