As a Scottish person living in Glasgow, I think Charlet has done a brilliant job in portraying Scotland and I don't see why she's getting grief for her good work!
I think there was some controversy on a previous documentary she made on vice. I don't know too much about it either and I think Charlett is not too bad :)
Lol. Yea she's pretty real in this series. Tbh, sometimes she acts like a ditz when she's on the bar scene (which is not surprising, most people are not always flattering when influenced by alcohol) but then she asks some pretty insightful questions sometimes and looks like she sincerely cares about the culture she's exploring.
Emaline L. What was insightful? I just watched a blonde whining about eating junk food. Its kind of sad watching this cause when you understand the culture and you understand the food. But she is... "ooo carbs"
Whaaaat...? I've been watching all these episodes thinking Charlet is a pretty easy going chick and then I see all this hate in the comments?! Dafuqqq? How many journalists do you know that would stay out drinking all night and then go to a festival hungover? She's fucking awesome.
+Qodesh00 And somewhat courageous to do that because she was up with Scots trying to keep up, even as an Englishwoman. Good on her for that, the attempt anyway.
She reminds me a bit of a Sarah Wiener series about food on French public TV recently. She's from Austria and speaks adequate French. She went around the country in a VW and spent days in places, learning dishes, throwing her own pots for the cooking, my picky Parisian spouse actually insisted we watch. I liked it, and some was pretty intense. Watching the kugelhopf nutty lady baker who deals with it as exact science was wild! (Actually, that episode helped me be more serious about my own kugelhopf!) I like Charlet just fine. I call her Legs.
I live in Scotland. But I'm English. It was fun to watch this series. Learned a lot about the place I've lived in for 17 years. Presenter was open minded and seemed to enjoy her time here.
As young, adventurous and funny as she is, there's a very regal, innocent, purity to her personality. You never know what sort reaction you'll get out of her, which makes her all the more exciting. She goes from sweetheart to smart ass with so much grace lol.
I think Charlet was super funny and made this series very enjoyable to watch. For those who are hating on her just don't appreciate her style which is different but ultimately authentic.
This is what happens when you meet up with a bunch of young Scottish oil rig workers for a night out on the town: lots of shots and a raging hangover the next day at the Highland Games (essentially the Scottish Olympics). Episode 1: munchies.vice.com/videos/munchies-guide-to-scotland-episode-one/ Episode 2: munchies.vice.com/videos/munchies-guide-to-scotland-episode-two/ Episode 3: munchies.vice.com/videos/munchies-guide-to-scotland-episode-three/ Episode 4: munchies.vice.com/videos/munchies-guide-to-scotland-episode-four/
Actually, I met several on my trip to Stornoway taking their time off. They weren't the hard-drinkers, bar guys... They were family men going home after 8 weeks away from their family. So don't give me this silly drunken sailor crap from the 1800s. These are family men who do one of the hardest jobs in the World - and they do so for their families.
+Ian L Too right! I'd guess that Scottish oil workers are just like all the oil workers we have here in Texas: Their duty day comes up, they pack their bags and head out to the rigs and the oil fields, they're out there for several months, then they cycle out and half of them go right back home to spend quality time with their families, the other half head right for the bars and strip clubs. I'm an Uber driver in Tyler, and I've driven the latter around the city several times. Props to those guys for taking Uber, Lyft or a Tyler Cab because they have the good sense to drink responsibly, and I have yet to see one of them spew his guts inside my car, but I stock my car with vomit bags, disinfectant and plenty of pure water just in case. I've only driven a few of the "family man" type of oil workers around town, and they've always been with their wives or girlfriends, or maybe a friend or two, but never any kids. They always seem to go to the swanky restaurants too, like the Shogun Japanese hibachi restaurant on Broadway. I'm not sure why they never bring any kids along, but being out and about after dark probably has something to do with it. It's great that the oil workers -- party guys and family guys alike -- always tip big, too...mostly twenties, sometimes a fifty, and I have yet to see anything under a ten. Last New Year's night, I was basically the chauffeur for two oil guys who had me keep the proverbial meter running for about two and a quarter hours while I drove them around to one bar, then another, and finally to a strip club. They handed me a $100 bill after I dropped them off at their motel room (on top of their $72 fare, $54 of which went to me), which _really_ made my night! So they make great money in the oil industry, but like you said, the work gets pretty rough. Different people have different ways of blowing off that stress, I reckon.
Charlot is such a doll I love her perspective she is witty and realistic and kind and genuinely interested in the subject. Such a good series really fun to watch keep it up vice!
I don't get the hate. She's genuine and quirky with a hilarious personality to boot. How could you not enjoy her videos? What does it matter if she is attractive or not? She does her job and very well so I don't get what's the fuss. Don't listen to the haters Charlet. You're beautiful.
Charlet is gorgeous! She does an excellent job. You always get a feel for what it would be like to really be there. Loved the 4 am jazz dance sesh! Long live Scotland!
I'm in love with Charlet and the series. I love how this series as well as others that she's in doesn't just focus on the topic but displays these lovely diversions that show peoples idiosyncrasy's. This helps to make the watch seem less staged and brings a bit of humanity to the scene. She's got the right personality for bringing out the best in whoever she's interviewing, I love that! Plus shes a beauty ;)
Litterally waiting for this one the whole day, hope they make the MUNCHIES Guide to X a regular, and I dont mind her, she adds a certain amount of charm to it all!
Charlet is beautiful in all forms of the word. Loved this show. Loved the presentation of it. What a wonderful, natural and refreshing presenter. I want to go to Scotland. Bloody well done!
This has been your most entertaining, informative and fun documentary you guys have done in a while. I loved every episode and hope to see more of them in the future......
Love to Scotland, make sure you do Ireland as well , then sail further, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Sweden. These nations represent everything of real value on earth, and the bond is evident, runs deep.
Enjoyed watching this series... Charlet's appears as a nice, easy-going lass, with plenty of yum, erm, sorry - fun, of her own to dispense! LOL More, please!! Go do Ireland...
I love that they did the research and showed how truly amazing Scottish food is, and didn't do the typical "I'm going to Scotland to try their foods" and go straight to the deep fried mars bars and stay there. Also, I am 100% in the "I love Charlet" camp - female hosts normally annoy me but I love her
I need to visit Scotland, to find some of my roots. Drink with the locals. I have met quite a few Scottish people in the US who are the nicest people I have ever met, just down to earth people. (from my experiences) *cheers.
+Jason_Bourne You had two choices: 1) Explain the cameraman's approach to conducting his craft. With the result of possibly receiving the thanks of +Swifty87. Or 2) Insult +Swifty87 and conduct yourself in a way that reflected poorly upon your character. You decided to select the second option. Perhaps you should learn from this and be more restrained before insulting others. You're capable of better decisions.
Loved the series! Charlet was great and the main star, Scotland, is an awesome country full of singularities. I wanted more, i don't remind seeing Edinburgh.
Nice little show this Munchies, watched most of the episodes, great big personalities make not being able to eat the food a bit less crap…. and the nice trousers dear, cheers
We have some neighbors that are a man of Scottish heritage and a woman of Irish heritage. They host an annual Scottish Highland Games every year at their estate. Interesting to see how it's really done. Seems we've gotten everything right so far! No one at our games has ever been able to throw the largest kaber yet though.
Charlet has really grown on me. She's probably my favourite Vice presenter now. Really unpretentious, honest and fun. Great series.
As a Scottish person living in Glasgow, I think Charlet has done a brilliant job in portraying Scotland and I don't see why she's getting grief for her good work!
Not sure whats with the hate against Charlet, I personally think she's quite funny.
More documentarys like this please!
I think there was some controversy on a previous documentary she made on vice. I don't know too much about it either and I think Charlett is not too bad :)
I guess ... they don't like female personality??? I do.
Lol. Yea she's pretty real in this series. Most Vice viewers are misogynistic, racist fucks, that's why

+BigBlack81 an English woman who looks like a matchstick on legs trying to keep up with big Aberdeen oil workers.
and shes a ssssssssmokeshow
There was a video where she was very arrogant to a store owner. She may be cool but i dont trust her.
@@hankscorpio3959 Source or a link would be nice.
Who else thought the gull was gonna get hit by the car?
Lewis E. bit late, I shit myself when the car came 😂😂
No
She needs her own show!

I'd watch it.
These videos have such a Wes Anderson vibe.
Unfortunately Vice hate white people.
I live in Scotland. But I'm English. It was fun to watch this series. Learned a lot about the place I've lived in for 17 years. Presenter was open minded and seemed to enjoy her time here.
I am so madly in love with Charlet, it's insane.

Charlet is the girl you think is gonna be really annoying, but who slowly wins you over. And then some.
I'd marry her in a heartbeat, even if only to steal a sassenach's woman
It's the nipples
You forgot to tip your fedora
Na, just annoying

Just recently stumbled across this and loved it, Charlet's enthusiasm & sense of humour has her a new fan, thoroughly enjoyable.
