I have a GMT Master II, bought brand new in 2002 for $3800, and I am far from wealthy, always wanted a Rolex since the day, In high school, I worked in the mailroom of Rogers and Wells law firm with a Swiss gentleman by the name of Hans, who was a friend and a super funny dude, who had just passed the NY Bar Exam and came in wearing a Rolex Submariner that he called a “Rolo” , and I said to him “Hans, one day I will have one of those too”, and roughly 15 years later, I did, and bought my GMT Master II from Tourneau Corner, 5th Ave, NYC.
I keep coming back to this video. One of the best showcases for this gorgeous watch. When I first saw the photos of this model, I thought - and still do - that it is one of the most beautiful watches ever made. I do love white gold as well, although I would simply have to have this one in Everose. The white gold I would save for a GMT-Master II with Pepsi dial. At almost 68 years of age, I still have dreams and goals. This watch is one such goal. Even with the most casual clothing, I feel that the watch has a versatility matched by few others. I realize this is a matter of choice, and opinion, but I feel very strongly about this watch for myself. Thanks again. I hope that, by the next time I comment, I will be the proud owner of one. DrTalal the price Will drop after a few years its not like the Steel rolex that increase in price. But still its a rolex so you wont lose too much money on it

I just bought one of these. It was my 20th birthday and I thought I'd treat myself. Marvelous watch. It is my first luxury watch and I got it through a reputable Jeweler for a good price.
I think they call them 'Sun-burst' dials. I've tried one on in Goldsmiths Trafford Centre Manchester and they look good. Apparently there's no adjustment, like 'Easy Link'. It fitted me perfectly, but if you've got a bigger wrist, or for summer, if your wrist expands, you buy extra links at £600 each. They have a very modern movement, 3255? With a lot of power reserve and the ceramic pins you mentioned to prevent bracelet stretch. After looking at AP, I'm beginning to change my view on Rolex and they are comparatively good value for money, on the precious metal watches. I like the diagonal motif dials with illuminous hands and indexes, which is why I wouldn't have the anniversary green dial, as you couldn't see anything at night! Same with Sky-Dweller dials, I like the watch proportions, but only minimal luminous material in the hour and minute hand. I'd need an illuminous dial as an option.

Hi Adam, thats a very good question, both are stunning dressy looking sports watches. The AP is considerably more though, you could have the Day-Date plus a steel every day watch for the same money as the AP. However the finishing on the AP is unbelievable, on a completely different level to Rolex.
I know it is a matter of preference when comparing a 41mm Day Date II vs 40mm Day Date. However, does the 41mm Day Date II technically have more precious metal? So, did Rolex cut back on the metal, yet retain the same price point?
This really was a great review. Very down to earth and honest reporting. I have never liked these personally but this one would sway me (on a leather strap!)

I seen this watch in a store and went for the 18k yellow gold with black crosshatch face model. Its a lovely watch but difficult to see the dial if im honest..
Smooth bezel on platinum models is because platinum as a metal is far too tough to cut that fluted design. Nothing to do with differentiation between white gold and platinum
Beautiful piece. However, I'm not sure it's for me, I'm more of a sports steel watch guy. Not sure I'd be ready to jump to RG or YG unless it's a discreet dress watch on leather like a Patek Calatrava 5296 for example, for those rare dressy occasions. A bit flashy but beautiful object of art this RG DD nonetheless.

My only gripe about buying this combo is the colors don't always go well with other colors Obviously this looks fantastic with the matching green shirt, but it doesn't always match so well with other colors. If you're in the position to have other nice pieces to select from, it's not a big deal, but if you're that guy that wants to just buy himself one special piece and wear it all the time, I'm not so sure this would be the best color combo. With that said, the RG with either the green or the chocolate dial is stunning!

However if you have the luxury of being able to choose from a few different pieces then of course you'd be able to find something that may fit your outfit better. Have you seen the white dial version? that would probably go with everything :)
