I'd like to add a gold watch to the list, this is what I plan to get in the near future: The TISSOT PRX Powermatic 80 (ROSE GOLD fluted Bezel) at around 2500$. This one is has an actual gold bezel (the one in the video just has a gold color).
In the southern part of India , especially kerala state 80s and 90s marked huge influx of foreign money through NRIs..during that era if you had a gold diastar (bridge) on your wrist it was considered as a symbol of a successful life..
Actually exactly the same today in some European countries especially in France. People have already gotten sick of infamous Rolex, and today Rado diastar with gold aesthetics is a symbol of class and success.

I went vintage to find a solid gold dress watch. Definitely a lot better value, esp. for a piece that's not worn very often. Lots of lovely vintage Omegas, Longines, etc. out there with great history for a lot less money than new. Also Junghans makes some nice gold tone versions of the Max Bill, just sayin!
8:00 I can speak on the STP movements a bit as an owner of a couple Zodiac watches -- It seems like the 3-13 movement has a higher defect/failure rate than we'd like from a Swiss movement, and I believe that's why Zodiac has either moved more towards the 1-11 movement or has made changes to the 3-13 movement to prevent early failures. Both of my watches feature the 1-11 movement, with one running within COSC standards and the other running about +15spd. The ETA movements are certainly nicer when it comes to the feeling of winding or setting the time when compared to the STP clones. There's a bit of roughness to the crown operation that isn't there on my ETA or Sellita movements.
Thats pretty much how I feel. I have a Zodiac Super Seawolf 53 (not sure which stp movement). It runs at +7/+8 seconds a day, so quiet ok, but the crown action is lacking. It feels almost a bit gritty.
The Breguet Classique elicited the biggest emotional response from me. For some weird reason I felt strongly of the 1980's- a kind of deja vu impression. But aesthetically it looks steampunk in a very classy way. The dial's treatment when it catches the light-very futuristic. Minimal stopwatchesque case. All tied together with the classic roman numeral motif to make a very good looking watch.
Can we start getting some proper artisanal watch makers here? You already show the unobtainable end of the spectrum, why not bring some attention to the Roger W Smiths of the world?
I think it must have been tough to choose between the 222 and the rose gold overseas, IMO i prefer the overseas in rose gold with that stunning blue dial
Hey Teddy. Big fan and kudos to literally starting the watch community on UA-cam. Purchased the Hydroconquest because of your video on it. Couple of requests - 1. it will be great if you can share more outdoor footage of the watches. The indoor shots are amazing but the outdoor shots will give a more realistic view of the watch will look like. 2. Please do a review of the Rolex Datejust 41 with smooth bezel. I personally own one and whilst I think it is a great demonstrator of the lineage of Rolex, it is also a much hated watch by the watch community. In fact, it is harder to explain to people why the Rolex is not a status symbol but a purchase from a brand which has many achievements to it, for instance first waterproof watch, climbing the everest and even going to the deepest ocean descent!
Sorry, but you know a little about Rolex if you believe those myths. Why do you even care what others think? Why do you even care about some community? Are you buying watches for others or for you?
Everything you said, Teddy, about the two-tone Santos is EXACTLY why I bought it…the gold bezel and screws just bring it all together and makes it an icon. But you (and everyone on Reddit) are right: the bezel is a scratch magnet and you jus have to wear them with pride.

Kudos for choosing the correct gold Rolex. A real classic. Watch a tennis match, or the start of a Grand Prix race. You'll see the Rolex clock front and center, wearing a fluted gold bezel.

I think the B&M Clifton watches are a bargain, especially in gold. I want to get one before the word gets out. I tried on a Bronze Gold Seamaster 300 a while back and that is a really, really nice watch in person. A family of watches that doesn't get the love it deserves is the Jules Audemars collection. They aren't as pricy as you might think and the Dual Time is an especially beautiful watch. I also love the VC Patrimony collection which I think is a bit overlooked.

I have never been a gold watch fan. But then I wanted to complete a set of Casio A1000 watches, and the A1000MG-9 was on sale for 50% off, so I ordered it. It blew my mind with the warm gold tone and golden sunburst dial. I'm now looking in to gold (toned) automatic watches.
Gold PVD is true gold, just of varying quality. Some gold PVD is 3 microns of PVD deposited gold overtop the rest of the PVD coating, that gold wears off quickly but the undercoating looks the same so the wearer doesn't know. Other companies use 15microns of gold, which is thick enough that in gentle use it won't be worn off within the original owner's lifetime.

Teddy I like the watches you spoke of and all, but why didn't you mention any 40's/50's error Hamilton's like the Gilmore, Gilbert, Brock, Brockton, etc. many of those watches were given as years of service gifts with engravings and I believe as good watches. No one really talk about those. Resale on those watches are somewhat low compared to many solid Gold watches and I believe this is because so called watch collectors never mention them and only talk about these very expensive over priced watches that only Mr. Wonderful can afford.
Why should it be "remarkable" and unusual to find all-gold watches for under $10,000? The value of the gold itself is only aboout $1000, so why aren't there plenty of $2000 - $3000 solid gold watches?
I usually find gold watches to be ugly, tacky and something you'd associate with the look of ghetto rappers, African dictators, eastern European oligarchs.. but that Omega Speedmaster, my God did they manage to make an absolutely gorgeous and "old money" classy looking watch. If I was that wealthy I'd absolutely get one.

The omega Seamaster 300 in bronze gold is a beautiful watch. Another one is a globemaster in steel and gold or a aquaterra in ateel and gold
All gold watches I feel are generally too flashy for me, however one I have my eye on is the new all gold Rolex GMT Master

If only that baume and mercier actually looked good
I usually find gold watches to be ugly, tacky and something you'd associate with the look of ghetto rappers, African dictators, eastern European oligarchs.. but that Omega Speedmaster, my God did they manage to make an absolutely gorgeous and "old money" classy looking watch. If I was that wealthy I'd absolutely get one.
