- Looking at the Olive Green 60th Anniversary Day-Date 40 from Rolex, reference 228235. Highlighting some of the pros and cons from my point of view and trying to answer the question "does it live up to the hype"?

That exact spec is my dream watch. That olive face with the Everose goes so well. Just classy, not too flashy.

Sorry, but you are off. With this bracelet you do not need to adjust on top, the removable links are so small. You can set it up perfectly for everyone.

The bracelet isn’t the only highlight of the watch hence the beautiful olive green dial is going for more then some diamond dial hr markers. It’s a collectors item and classic piece.

So yeah i think it'd be fun in the next one if you go totally over the top about how incredible this is...the story of how YOU are among the lucky few to have it etc etc. I'll be very entertained. Sorry it doesn't fit you. It did look kinda tight. I guess it's no big deal that you hate green since you'll be making a bunch of cash when you sell it.

There is no way you can introduce micro adjustment with a concealed clasp if the links need to stay flush. It is a geometrical impossibility. The regular clasp can have micro adjustment because it is hiding the gap created by it.
There might be, look at what Patek did with the 5990 for example.
@@watchyouare I see what you mean. It’s a good example to get as close as possible, but i don’t see it as a 100% concealed clasp, since you don’t see the links getting in contact. They are covered by a smaller (more stealthy) clasp, but still present to cover the gap.

@@watchyouare you are right, I didn’t express myself very well. The length of the circumference around the wrist is made out of the watch itself (about “log-to-log”) and the bracelet. If you want to change the length of the circumference, you need to add or take out slack. In the “fully concealed“ clasps, all the links are back to back visible around the entire wrist (from one side of the watch to the other). Changing the length of the circumference would inevitably create a gap between the links. Normally this gap is not visible as it remains covered by the clasp. But if there is no clasp covering the bracelet (as it is the case for concealed clasps), then you would unavoidably see the gap created by the adjustment system.
@@Marco_Balmelli no it might just be me not getting it 😄 in closed position I don‘t see any gap e.g. on the 5990, now if you use the extension then of course that is a different story, but I guess you can‘t have it all

I keep awaiting this watch the most out of all and will get in heartbeat once I have a chance. Shame people like you buy it just for a sake of buying and perhaps second hand value. As mentioned, you don’t like the model, move on and get something else, leave it to the people who really look towards it.

@@watchyouare You've a chance to try it on before buying, see do you like it or not. There is no forcing and spending so much on something you're not really sure of, doesn't sound like a great idea on the first place.
@@lukaszpspam this may have been the case a couple years ago (and more recently again thanks to the exhibition only models). However, in both cases you can never have the watch sized to your wrist which can make a huge difference (the DD without micro-adjust being a perfect example).
@@watchyouare I get your point, due to the size of my forearms I don't have to size and they are perfect straight away, perhaps this makes me overlook other's problems. Nevertheless my heart is bleeding while watching this video, as I would kill for one. I was fortunate enough to pick up GMT and a Sub within last year, but with this DD, keep waiting and not sure what to expect...
